We voiced our complaint and asked nicely for a partial refund.. the business owner and her son did not like this and resorted to screaming, swearing, and calling us names. Not once did they simply ask us to leave. Instead, they pushed up out the door by force. Her, her family, and the seasonals gathered in a group to surround the arcade room (where our children were playing) to lock them in. Mind you, our children were ages 1-5yr. I stepped out of the arcade to see the ambush of camp workers. We had to carry our kids out. Our kids were crying in fear of everyone, including the owner who was waving her fist in threat to punch us, and her 17yr daughter, whom she had try to fight us as well. Once we made in back to our site, it wasn't long before the police showed up with an eviction letter. We had to pack our things and leave ASAP. We didn't make it home until nearly 2 in the morning. Our kids were exhausted and hungry. Our children won't forget this. My daughter is afraid to sleep alone. I hope these people will one day get what they deserve. Playground Rusty, not maintained, unsafe for children. The kayaks were fun for us and our kiddos. It was convenient that the camp had kayak/tub rentals and transportation for drop off. Though, We did not appreciate the sexual graffiti of genitals drawn on the windows of the transportation buses for our children to see and question. Restrooms Unsanitary, not maintained. Could use some work. Picnic area Our power went out during a rain storm. The next day, one of the park employees shared with us that they were doing their own electrical. There were some exposed wires. This was not OSHA approved. And very unsafe, especially for an environment that is supposed to be safe for family.

The Tawas State Park…read morecampground was closed for renovations, so my husband and I began looking for another spot to camp while enjoying spring birding in this area. Through a Google search, we found this campground. This campground is quiet, exceptionally well-cared for, convenient y located to all Tawas and West Branch attractions and located on a beautiful piece of property. The owners and hosts, Calvin and Jeannie, are wonderful people who will make you feel right at home. Though tent camping sites are available, we decided to splurge and rent a glamping cabin with a king bed. It was the perfect blend of luxury and the rustic feel of being in nature. We enjoyed meandering around the well marked trails and relaxing at the river, just a short walk from the campground. The spring birds were plentiful, allowing a quiet alternative to the more crowded Tawas spots. The glamping cabin was immaculately clean, the bed was firm and the bedding was very nice. The ceiling fan, standing fan and mini heater allow for a comfortable sleeping and relaxing environment. We enjoyed afternoons in the hammock, evening fires and then relaxing in bed streaming our favorite Netflix shows while eating microwave popcorn (we brought the food and technology; microwave, fridge and wifi provided) Every camper knows the sacrifices made while visiting the restrooms and showers. No sacrificing needed here. The facilities are large and super clean. They even smell amazing and are tastefully decorated. We were provided with a golf cart to trek back and forth to the restroom which was appreciated at night. What a treat! The campground is primarily seasonal campers with many sites for RV's and more limited tent camping, with and without utilities. The crowd seems older and quiet though there is a cute little playground and lots of space for kids to explore nature. Our grandson would love fishing from the river. This visit may have been our first but it won't be our last. We almost hate to write this review and risk this gem becoming more popular. Alas, we want the owners to enjoy wild success as they provide such a wonderful place to enjoy nature.

We were able to hear the waves crashing and we basically had a private beach. You couldn't book online, but the person who helped us set up the reservation was very courteous. When we arrived with our camper, the manager actually rode his bike in front of us to guide us to our spot and helped my husband as he was backing up the camper so that the door would open right on the cement pad. It does come with an above ground half barrel firepit. We didn't use their facilities since we had full hookup (I'm pretty sure all the spots have full hookup). The playground, albeit small, was within view of our campsite so we were ok with letting the kids go play on it while we set up camp. And it looks like they have a boat onsite that you can charter out for fishing, but with just the 4 of us and 2 of us until the age of 7, it wouldn't have been a value add to the quality of our trip, especially since I was pretty familiar with the Tawas area and we were less than 10 minutes from downtown. If you're looking for a party campground, this isn't it. There are a lot of seasonal and permanent residents onsite, so weekend sites are hard to come by. My family enjoyed the experience so much, we plan on calling them early next year to try to get the same spot way in advance so we can go swimming from our own private beach again! Highly recommended.

As a PAYING CUSTOMER just wanting to use a service YOU PAID FOR....you ask them to move the busses forward and the employee says..."nope we have a business to run." Then you go to the office only to be laughed at and treated so rudely because you just want to empty your camper and go home! (Worst of all time) I don't even know where to begin. We called to reserve a tubing trip for the day and was put on hold mid reservation to assist others customers. When we arrived, 20 minutes before our scheduled time we had to circle the parking lot multiple to find a parking space...next to the tents that is supposed to be a campground. Thank goodness we didn't camp. We proceed to walk around trying to chase an employee down to find someone to direct us to the office to pay...couldn't find a single person. We finally found the office...full of unmasked employees and terrible customer service. After waiting in line we were told that we didn't have a reservation and proceeded to book us a new reservation...for an hour later. The lady who helped us was nice but could not keep her head on straight. Bouncing back and forth between tube numbers and cash deposit amounts we were finally set. After an hour of waiting we asked an employee if we were going to be put on a bus and the employee rudely told us to wait our turn. Chill Jake. We just want to know if we're going tubing. After waiting for over an hour, we were put on a bus, full of unmasked employees and customers. We had multiple people around us also complain about the insane customer service they received. You wouldn't think it could get any worse but unfortunately it does. Once we arrived at the river it was a complete sh!t show. It was almost like a scene from hunger games. Massive amounts of people thrown into the mountain of tubes fighting their way into the water. There were definitely many "Karen's" around us letting us know that they were next to get into the river. We ended up taking a small walk down river to jump into our tubes. The float was nice. No employees were involved which really helped. Not only was the service terrible but it's also stupid expensive for a tube. Overall. Don't float with the G.O.A.T. Find somewhere else or buy some tubes and build a river. It will be 100 times better.

For us Floridians, we were hot!!!!! I wished for air conditioning in my cabin. I also wished for hot water in the sink of our cabin. Lots and lots of spiders and carpenter ants in the cabin. But I guess we are out in the woods. We purchased two big bundles of firewood, was $95. I suggest one. Cuz we didn't even use half!!! They don't allow you to bring your own wood. There's a small fridge for food items but it isn't big enough for beer etc. so bring coolers. The shop sells ice for $2 a bag. Not a bad deal. The bags are small but we were so grateful. There is parking next to the cabin for one car and across the cabin along the hill. We were close to the shop, the bathrooms and showers in cabin 3. Just a short walk across the playground. The cabin has a toilet in its own little room and the sink is outside. There is a small coffee maker and some coffee mugs, as well as a microwave. We had a table with two chairs and a bench seating area. There were two patio chairs. So bring more camping chairs. We made a fire one night in the grill and cooked. It worked. We played games and chatted. One day we kayaked and another day we tuned down the river. It was nice that this was all coordinated though RiverView. They have a large bus that drops you off where you need to be. The sell ice down at the bus stop too. So load up your cooler, drag it down there and then get ice to fill it. Overall a great ladies trip. We will be back next year!!!
