Fun Sunday afternoon jaunt. Well worth the drive from Sunapee area for any rock hound…read more Interesting samples of quartz, amethyst, jade and geodes (bought a galena geode from Morocco). My wife thought their beads were nice and the selection vast. Large outdoor selection too. It is well marked and you can park on the road.

Holy rock heaven. There's where I was transported to for about 2 hours this weekend and what a…read morewonderful experience it was. I had head about the place from a friend who is into crystals, gems, and minerals as the Mecca for such things and had to check it out for myself. And it truly is an experience of its own. First of parking is on the street and the shop begins right as you enter the driveway. I immediately caught sight of what I thought was stacked firewood but was in fact log sized chunks of selenite! To the left were huge slabs of amethyst and stones cut in half to be bookends. Among the other things in the 'rock garden' tables of various stones, split open and exposed to the elements. (Don't be surprised if something found its home under a rock you might fancy!) further back outside looks like a workstation with even more 'book ends' and slabs of polished stone. Heading up into the store there is a porch area with plastic and cardboard boxes of crystals and stones. Inside, are more fine and delicate beading and jeweling stones. Some are loose, some are drilled with holes already, and some are strung together on thread. You can walk around here for hours, take multiple loops and still not see everything. (I must have taken three of four loops before finally telling myself it was time to stop). Prices are reasonable - and a lot are done out by weight. I managed to get out spending under $50 since I purchase mostly natural rocks and smaller items (small bookends, selenite, labradorite, sage, African glass, Quartz, and a lucky geode). I will definitely be going back!

TLDR: Great variety (of rocks!), quality and prices!…read more I'm not sure why this shop doesn't always appear in the searches, but I'm so glad I found it! Limited hours (maybe you could call ahead), but well worth the drive/wait. Amazing variety of polished and rough minerals! They had trays of polished stones that you'd expect to see at any gem or mineral shop, a couple of containers of slabs (about the size of your hand), and lots of rough minerals. There was a section of "local" rocks too! Best selection of petrified wood I've seen in Boston/Nashua area. They also had some jewelry; I think he might make some of it. I've been to a lot of these kinds of shops lately, and this is my favorite. Compared to other shops that carry rocks/minerals, it was missing fossils, beads, metaphysical stuff... but the quality & prices of what they do have (rocks!) was far better. Best prices I've found yet! Some items have prices marked, but others are sold by weight - with a few exceptions that are average priced... it's very, very affordable. Most other shops charge about 2-3x more for the same thing. There was also an option to "build your own bag" of polished stones, which would be far cheaper than other places for the same small, polished stones. There were also a few nice pieces that were just for display. Fred was really friendly and knowledgeable. He showed us some of the more interesting specimens of what I was looking for, and he told us about some places people go to find/mine minerals. In the time that I was there, I saw more customers here than at other shops in the greater Boston/Nashua area, and I can see why.

We called off-hours and Fred was quick to answer, super flexible and happy to accommodate us for a visit. His prices are reasonable, he is so knowledgeable and genuine. A highlight to our weekend getaway and definitely someplace we will be returning to on our next visit to VT. Thanks, Fred! Note: if the Saturday hours don't work for you, definitely give Fred a call. He is more than happy to meet at a time that's convenient for you - even if it's just to browse!!!
