They have a very good and extensive range of dog and cat foods to cater for even the fussiest of eaters. Their own brand cat and dog foods are very good value and are of good quality. They sell an amazing range of pets beds, toys and extras such as brushes, shampoos, flea treatments, vitamins - you name it and Pets at Home sell it! You normally end up buying something you did not realise you needed! My dog when I take him there heads for the section with the dog treats - I think he wishes he could be a taste tester for them! They do sell some live animals such as rabbits, guinea pigs, mice etc which I don't really like but on the whole they seem to keep them in reasonably good conditions. The trouble is they do not vet the people who buy them.

No sense of being forced into un-needed treatments. Also the kindest and most sensitive handling of my 7 year old dog. I cannot recommend them highly enough. I thought I'd play the long game before leaving a review as to whether my last trip to this vets…read morecould have been avoided if the staff had been just a bit more diligent/competent following treatment of one of my cats for struvite crystals costing me nearly a bag of sand. A second emergency visit was needed 18 months later for the same issue and it was costing me more than I could afford so the practice advised me take it to blue cross for follow up checks. However when I collected my cat the owner whom has always been nice and fair, and to be honest did deduct some treatment costs, and this was before what I'm about to reveal. Like I said upon collecting my cat and paying nearly another grand the owner said to me about feeding a diet of prescription food particularly 'Hills' they do a CD range for urinary issues. Good advice but I then told her that on my first visit no one ever mentioned this when I collected and paid the bill. Nothing what so ever about after care if I had known then I would have fed him the prescription food as I've done so ever since. You should have seen the look on the owners face as she looked to her staff with eyes that said it all. Naturally she didn't say anything in front of me but I sure feel she would have once I left, because if her staff had been competent or diligent enough to inform me of the aftercare on my first visit just maybe the second costly visit could have been avoided. Now I say I'm playing the long game with this review because since the owner told me about the prescription food he's been fed it and has to date not had any urinary tract/struvite crystals issue, nearly four years clear. I won't be using again I would rather take my pets to organisations like animals charities such as PDSA, Blue Cross etc as the staff are motivated by the welfare of the animals rather than private vets that are driven by fiscal targets. It's a sad case because this could have been avoided if some degree of professionalism into the welfare, particularly the aftercare of the animals they are treating was considered.

Old fashioned pet store…read more It's old fashioned in as much as its laid out in a fashion more akin to a store in an Istanbul souk rather than the modern minimalist clean cut ways of the west. Stacked to the rafters with pet parafenalia it's the place to get all your pet needs met. For fellow cat owners they sell catnip mice that cause our cat to go a little mental and within a couple of days disembowel the cheap little toy. She loves 'em and it's a pleasure to watch her go mental.

Perfect 'superstore' to pick up all the essentials for your pet…read more Dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs and all other household pets can be kitted out from top to tail in one visit with a huge selection of beds, hutches, pens, food, toys, collars, leads, shampoos... well, you get the idea. They have an in-store vet which seemed very popular the day we visited. The staff were super-friendly and helpful, the store was well stocked with a great selection and everything was totally affordable. They even sell smaller pets such as rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and LOADS of degus which are so cute (although my other half didn't seem as keen). All in all a great, affordable pet store. And, in case you were wondering, our new puppy is called Peggy and we are totally smitten!

Open on sundays but staff quite unhelpful…read more I went there on Sunday to purchase a couple of rabbits, to keep as pets in my garden. It took me about 15 minutes just to get to speak to someone of the staff. I wanted a male and a female bunnies, but I have been told they only sell either ones or the others. Really don't get the point of that policy, as if I am determined in having a mixed couple, I will then go to another shop and get the missing one there. It only results in unpleased customers and loss of sales. However, the staff member asked me where I was going to keep the bunny, and I said I think in my garden. He said I'll have to get a cage first, because of foxes, and I agreed. I have been shown several cages they had in the shop, but when I've asked if I can get home delivery, they had no clue of how much would that cost, or when that could be done. They have suggested to purchase and get delivery on-line, but they also have said that pets cannot be delivered and would have to get back to the shop and pick up one myself. I have asked if I could get the rabbit and keep it inhouse, until the cage gets delivered, and the answer was a no-no: they can eat cables and furniture. Strange, I thought that was not exactly of their business, and I should feel free to decide if I want get my furniture eaten, but again they have their policy, which is probably "we don't want to sell rabbits". Fine, that just means that I have to get home (after wasting half a day to get there), make an order online (again, why them? there are so many websites, even cheaper, therefore loss of sales), wait for the delivery, and then come back to the shop to let them ask me the same questions (would it be enough if I tell I have purchased a cage or will I have to show a proof of that?), and MAYBE finally purchase the rabbit I wanted. Of course that is not going to happen, as I'm afraid they've done enough to loose me as a customer.

Unfortunately, I'm not very fish-friendly and have managed to kill a few supposedly indestructible goldfish! Although not the biggest shop, they had a broad selection of fish tank sizes for sale. The fish selection is smaller than at other places but again, you have a nice variety of both coldwater and tropical fish. The staff are friendly and informative for customers who need advice. They also offer a tank cleaning service.

You also get a chance to view the medium-mixed fan tails at a bargain, mother (full -grown) plants. The Aqua feed is also available as we don't want our fishes to go hungry!
