Cheap for a Reason - Footprints Sealed Into My Pool Deck…read more I made the mistake of going with the cheapest option, and I'm now paying for it. Richard Moseley came out himself to give the estimate. He seemed professional, knowledgeable, and offered a competitive price to pressure wash and seal my pool deck. Unfortunately, once the job day came, he subcontracted the work to someone else -- someone I had never met and did not hire. That immediately made me uneasy. After pressure washing, the subcontractor applied the sealer. Within minutes of applying it, he was walking all over the freshly sealed surface. Every other company I consulted specifically told me that walking on freshly applied sealer that quickly is improper and risks ruining the finish. When I questioned it, Richard brushed off my concerns and insisted it wasn't a problem. It absolutely was a problem. After the job was completed, I inspected the deck and found visible footprint marks sealed into multiple areas of my pool deck. Permanent. Baked in. When I contacted Richard to fix it, he returned -- only to tell me it couldn't be fixed and that the tile would need to be replaced. He casually asked if I had extra tile on hand. At that point, any confidence I had was gone. I would not trust him to replace an AC filter, much less tear out and replace tile on my property. I have photos of the footprint marks and screenshots of our text message exchanges documenting everything. I followed up about him coming back, and then HE NEVER RESPONDED! If you're considering hiring him, understand this: he may show up for the estimate, but the work may be subcontracted out, and if something goes wrong, don't expect accountability or a real solution. I strongly regret hiring him and would not recommend his services.

Every other company was sending me to a third-party where I would have to explain over and over again to the workers what I wanted/needed. (Most of which unfortunately didn't speak English). Usually, I pick someone with reviews on yelp, however, the companies I called with over 10 reviews almost always sent my call to a third-party and or did not reply right away. I am so extremely happy that I went with my judgment on McCafferty home services. In addition, when Ron did not provide a service, he would either refer me to someone that did, or tell me the honest truth and to do some of my own vetting (example: movers/landscaping). MEANING, he did not send people my way unless he could vouch for them, and this meant a lot to me. At the end of the day, I am so incredibly happy with the craftsmanship, the timeline, and the kind demeanor of him and his team. Also, he sent pictures and videos every step of the way, which was so thoughtful and great for us, some thing he did not have to do. Permits for my project appeared to be filed through another company, M & Z Construction. My project experienced significant delays, change-order/upcharge disputes, inspection and engineering/blueprint issues, and several promised items that were never completed. Some work I ultimately completed myself to move the project forward. During disputes over these issues, the possibility of a construction lien was also raised. When I later sold the property, the closing attorney flagged concerns regarding the contractor/licensing structure and held part of the sale proceeds temporarily while the matter was reviewed. I strongly encourage anyone considering this company to independently verify licensing, permitting, contracts, and who is actually responsible for the work / injuries / defects before making payments or signing agreements. Nick, the owner of Megapolis Construction is apparently a married man. To the licensed contractor of the Florida license he used for permits for my project. They are invested together financially but with the current structure, it seems they are able to possibly avoid any direct liability operating between 2 companies.
