My neighbor suggested I try BioLife, so I went to this location on Richmond Avenue. There was only one person at the Check-In counter so I had to wait 20 minutes. Once I checked in, which took 5 minutes, I waited another 5 minutes before seeing the first screening unit. The screening took about 5 minutes. I then waited for 10 minutes to visit with a nurse for a physical exam. The exam lasted only 5 minutes. The nurse told me I was not eligible to donate because I had a pacemaker. That's odd. I've been donating for years with a pacemaker without a single problem. I asked the nurse why the disqualification wasn't posted on their website. The nurse didn't apologize. So, I wasted $45 on Uber and 1 hour of waiting in lines just to be denied. This place was a zoo. They were short staffed which caused very long lines. I only met one staffer who was pleasant, the rest appeared to be rushed and unconcerned. One nurse appeared to be frantic while trying to move customers along. After witnessing all of this, I can't imagine why anyone would go here except those who were hard pressed to get some money. Thanks, but no thanks. I'll continue to donate for free at Gulf Coast Blood Centers where I'm surrounded by pleasant staff and get free snacks, including Otis Spunkmeyer cookies.

My personal phlebotomist who took care of me today did a wonderful job at providing great service. She was friendly, kind, very attentive to me. I was out of my mind and doing crazy shit and knew it was crazy but couldn't stop. The neurologist said I needed to stay on the medication and even increased the dosage. I got really crazy and confused one night and my daughter who is a NP took me to the hospital. I just knew I had a brain tumor or Alzheimer's. They said I was having a mental break and needed to go to an inpatient facility that could better deal with me. I went because I was scared to death. That place was awful. They forced all kinds of drugs on me and when I would ask what they were for they would'nt tell me. The lady in the room with me never got out of bed and they never came to help her on the bedpan or bathe her. I helped her use the bedpan. There was no hot water in the bathroom for a shower. They couldn't keep the men out of our rooms at night and they would try to get in the bed with you or go through your thing. The fights were an every day occurrence. One nurse that was pregnant was slapped by this big guy named David Ditch that bullied everyone. He would start fights with someone and the nurses would tell him they were going to have to give him an injection and he would say OK I want this and name off some drug he wanted. I'll never forget him! Some of the people were so out of it they just sat and stared all day long . I never once saw a Dr. or got any kind of evaluation. They gave us coloring books to occupy us. The nurses were really nice and so overwhelmed and short handed they couldn't do what was really needed. Wasn't their fault though. My family would call all day every day and never get an answer. I was told I couldn't call my family or leave. I was in this little room one day and saw the State regulations posted on the wall so I read them. It stated that they couldn't hold me and all I had to do was notify them that I wanted to leave and they had 4 hours to respond. They wouldn't give me a pen so I used a red crayon and a page from the coloring pages they had stacked up and I wrote what it said and gave it to them. The nurse took it to the director and she went nuts on me and tried to say that I had been admitted because I was violent. I saw the nurse that was there when I came in and she said no such thing ever happened. They finally called my daughter to come get me and the director came back and told me to pack my "shit" and leave. My daughter was 4 hours away. I told her that and she said she didn't give a "FUCK" to get my shit and get out of the facility. This place is not in a very good neighborhood and one of the nurses came and told me she couldn't just put me out like that. The nurse put me in like a little storage room until my daughter got there. This really nice black guy came and was so apologetic about her behavior. He was one of the administrators. My daughter and the director almost came to blows and my daughter would of mopped the floors with her but one of the other staff members came between them. I finally got home and this time went to Methodist hospital instead of our little county hospital that's not much more than a bandaid station. Come to find out I had a damn brain infection and wasn't having seizures at all. I was admitted to the hospital. They took me off the psych meds and then I went into some kind of withdrawal process that caused these crazy tics and muscle spasms that I couldn't control. I was in ICU for 8 days and step down for 3 and finally got to go home. Mind you I have never had a drug or alcohol problem and because of those meds I could potentially have those symptoms for the rest of my life. It was the medication and the infection making me crazy. That neurologist was a damn quack and almost killed me. I called my insurance company and filed a complaint with them and the State. I wasn't on any type of government assistance, I had good insurance. I retired from the State of Texas. The insurance company denied their claims and the State did a full review. Nothing really happened except they didn't get paid. It's July 2026 and I'm just getting back to my old self. I feel like that Dr. took a year of my life from me and I have an attorney suing him. I still think about some of those people that were there and had no one to advocate for them and desperately needed real help not just sitting around coloring and being force fed drugs. They have your blood by your consent and you have no idea what they're going to do with it or who they are going to send it to. My anxiety takes me to a place where my blood results are now going to be sold with my credit score on the dark web or used in some sort of cloning experiment funded by ancestry.com. Seriously, I just gave them my blood with absolutely no follow up questions? I'm an idiot. The treatment: Courtney brings in a bag of yellow fluid and tells me that the chair I'm sitting in can recline if I want it to. I confirm that it should take about 30 mins and he says, "maybe 45." BTW, it took my bag an hour to drain. He checked on me a couple of times but only offered me a call button at the end of my treatment... to let him know when the bag was empty. If you decide to do this, please remember to ask for a blanket beforehand. I didn't realize how cold the fluids would be going into your body and of course that temperature is going to end up throughout your entire body. I drove my niece there and decided to also get the IV while waiting for her, I ask about the Glutathine IV and was told there are 2 options 1) $199 and $250. We told the staff my niece with go for $150 option and I would go for $199. After we were done My niece was charged $199 and I was charged $275. We were both shocked. We ask them again and they told us these are the prices for what we got. We were not in a mood for argue with the staff. We paid and left. There is no price chart in this office or on the website so it hard to argue with them. I felt confident that I didn't ask for $275 option b/c in my mind my budget was under $200.
