I had a great time. Tons of laughs, so glad I came across it on Yelp. Laid back atmosphere. I will definitely go again.

Coalition Theater is an amazing space to support local and enjoy some comedy! Got to check out…read moretheir Class Action Stand Up Showcase on a Sunday which consisted of getting to see students from the stand up class do comedy in front of an audience for the first time! The energy was electric and everyone was so funny (definitely a testament to how good the class must be). The show was about 2 hours and for only 14 dollars was an extreme value! Loved being able to laugh and cheer on strangers as they did something for the first time. They also had a concessions stand that appeared to sell drinks and a few snacks, I didn't indulge but it was nice to know that was an option. Coalition theater provides a bridge between entertainment and community which I really loved. I'd definitely reccomend giving one of their shows a try if you are looking for a fun night alone, with friends or for a date night!

When you sign up for a class, you get a free show pass for the season you're signed up. My 101 was with Emilee and she was incredible. I loved her positive energy and feedback. She really supported us and helped us grow. My 201 was with Chris and I loved how passionate he was about improv. Him and our TA took amazing notes to help us improve our improv. He also took the time to sign us up for extra practices during open mic nights at the theater. If you're looking to take comedy classes or just want to catch a show, Coalition Theater is the place for you. You can catch shows Thursdays through Saturdays. They have drinks and snacks for sale during shows. There is a gender neutral bathroom. There are three rows of seating and it's a pretty intimate space. It's an awesome community of supportive and inclusive people.

Long version: It was $21 to see Brent Blakeney open for Dusty Slay, and they were both absolutely hilarious. Comedy lasted for about 1 hour 45 minutes straight. No intermission. Note that this venue is INSIDE of the Double Tree Hotel in a small conference room with about 6-8 large round tables, roughly 6 chairs at each table. About 25 people were in attendance when I went. The room is a mix between a business meeting room and a school cafeteria setting. This may sound bad. But, honestly, the weird/awkward setting actually made for more hilariousness, and a more intimate atmosphere. There is a hotel bar and restaurant in the next room over, and, while I *did* see a server taking food and drink orders during the comedy set, the server seemed to rarely visit, and was difficult to flag down. So, I recommend grabbing a drink (or two) at the bar just beforehand and bringing it into the comedy room yourself (they do allow this). Overall, this is a really fun and different thing to do on a date night here in Williamsburg! (though I suppose experiences will vary, depending on the comedians)

The host, Leslie, was totally helpful and accommodating with our seating. The drinks were cold and quickly refilled. This is my fourth time seeing comedians at this location. It's always enjoyable.

We purchased tickets for the 9:30pm show and arrived at 8:30pm. With this being our first time at the newly opened Funny Bone, we had no idea how the parking arrangements were so we parked in a space right in the front. As soon as we got out the car, we were informed that the parking space was "valet only" so we asked how much valet was and paid the $10 to park there. There is ample free parking around the Funny Bone, by the way. We stood in line for almost 30 minutes before they let us inside. As we were walking in, we noticed the outside seating area, which is a great addition. The inside was just as nice. The Bar Area was much larger and there were plenty of tables as well for folks that were waiting for the show or wanting to enjoy a beverage. Once we walked in, we were guided straight to our table. The inside is much more spacious than before and I love how they offer individual seating, in the case someone doesn't want to be seated at a table. We all decided to grab drinks, I ordered the Blushing Beach Rita and it was very good. Overall, we enjoyed the show and Bruce Bruce was great. The price of the tickets have definitely increased but I'm sure if there's another comedian we want to see, we'll definitely be back.

One of the problems with the old location was seating space. The tables were so close together you were almost sitting in your neighbor's lap. Well, that still remains true at this location. Not that I was expecting to have a table of 4 to ourselves and there were only 2 of us. We were seated at a table with another couple. And that was cool. The proximity of the next table to our table was more than mildly uncomfortable. My 6 foot 3 husband was smashed up to the table because the table behind him was just too close. Oh, I "get" it--they want to pack the house for a show, but a little elbow room would be nice. The service however, was quick and efficient. There were more than enough table runners and waitstaff.
