I had a great time. Tons of laughs, so glad I came across it on Yelp. Laid back atmosphere. I will definitely go again.

The drink was too sweet and neon colored - I ordered a margarita (not frozen). The second time, I ordered food and a martini -that was much better. The third time, I just ordered water and a gin and tonic - that's the best. You go for the comedy, not the food. Get a simple drink (or non-alc beverage) and sit back and enjoy. Service is attentive. Servers try to crouch and be as unobtrusive as possible. They really do their best given the volume. I've also only ever sat in the front. I've been with friends and by myself. If you do go alone, they will sit you with a stranger and that's fine with me.

We arrived right at the start and were seated at a two-top front and center, which surprised me since I figured we'd be back farther. Sammy was delightfully funny, his humor and topics aligned very well. My date and I split three sides, the mac and cheese, fries, and corn. He enjoyed the corn and I preferred the fries. The mac and cheese was decent. We both also ordered the Purple Haze cocktail, which is a gin concoction. It was expectedly sweet but not bad. Prices were reasonable for the quality and service was succinct. I'd definitely return if a comedian I was interested in popped on through.

Coalition Theater is an amazing space to support local and enjoy some comedy! Got to check out…read moretheir Class Action Stand Up Showcase on a Sunday which consisted of getting to see students from the stand up class do comedy in front of an audience for the first time! The energy was electric and everyone was so funny (definitely a testament to how good the class must be). The show was about 2 hours and for only 14 dollars was an extreme value! Loved being able to laugh and cheer on strangers as they did something for the first time. They also had a concessions stand that appeared to sell drinks and a few snacks, I didn't indulge but it was nice to know that was an option. Coalition theater provides a bridge between entertainment and community which I really loved. I'd definitely reccomend giving one of their shows a try if you are looking for a fun night alone, with friends or for a date night!

When you sign up for a class, you get a free show pass for the season you're signed up. My 101 was with Emilee and she was incredible. I loved her positive energy and feedback. She really supported us and helped us grow. My 201 was with Chris and I loved how passionate he was about improv. Him and our TA took amazing notes to help us improve our improv. He also took the time to sign us up for extra practices during open mic nights at the theater. If you're looking to take comedy classes or just want to catch a show, Coalition Theater is the place for you. You can catch shows Thursdays through Saturdays. They have drinks and snacks for sale during shows. There is a gender neutral bathroom. There are three rows of seating and it's a pretty intimate space. It's an awesome community of supportive and inclusive people.

Long version: It was $21 to see Brent Blakeney open for Dusty Slay, and they were both absolutely hilarious. Comedy lasted for about 1 hour 45 minutes straight. No intermission. Note that this venue is INSIDE of the Double Tree Hotel in a small conference room with about 6-8 large round tables, roughly 6 chairs at each table. About 25 people were in attendance when I went. The room is a mix between a business meeting room and a school cafeteria setting. This may sound bad. But, honestly, the weird/awkward setting actually made for more hilariousness, and a more intimate atmosphere. There is a hotel bar and restaurant in the next room over, and, while I *did* see a server taking food and drink orders during the comedy set, the server seemed to rarely visit, and was difficult to flag down. So, I recommend grabbing a drink (or two) at the bar just beforehand and bringing it into the comedy room yourself (they do allow this). Overall, this is a really fun and different thing to do on a date night here in Williamsburg! (though I suppose experiences will vary, depending on the comedians)

Inside the building a beautiful full bar greeted the attendees of the Marlon Wayans comedy show. It was nice to grab a beverage while we waited for the interior venue doors to open. The food was delicious and the server was great. We will be back. A great night watching Marlon Wayans.

Went to the new Funny Bone location for the Desi Banks show and... whew. What a logistical circus…read more First things first: Desi Banks himself was funny. No complaints there. The man delivered. There were also two openers (one being the host), and they were fine, but honestly after the night we had, they should have cut one of the opening acts. By the time the show actually started, the crowd had already been through enough. Doors were supposed to open at 9 for the 9:45 show. I arrived around 9:20. The parking lot was already full so I had to park in the Target lot. When I got to the line, it was long... and not moving at all. 9:45 came and went and we were still standing in the exact same place. Eventually someone asked what was going on and we found out the 7pm show was still going on inside. That's why they weren't letting anyone in yet. Around 10pm the first show finally started letting out and the line crept forward. My group didn't actually get into the building and seated until about 10:25. About 10 minutes later the server came to take orders. I ordered a margarita. I'm fairly certain the tequila missed its flight and never made it into the glass because it tasted like straight juice. Asked for water and the server said she'd bring bottles with cups of ice to pour them into. The water came out... but the cups of ice never made their appearance. Not a huge deal, but still. Drinks came fairly quickly, thankfully before the show started. The people in my group who ordered food, however, did not receive it until after midnight even though everything was ordered around 10:30. Understandably, they were not thrilled. Our server also rarely checked back on us. When the show ended at 1am (yes... 1am), the lights came on and we were all just sitting there waiting because none of us had gotten our checks yet. It felt like the entire table was just staring at each other wondering what the protocol was. The server came by a few times saying she'd be right back, but the checks took forever. I'm sure plenty of people probably just left. Honestly, this place desperately needs a QR code ordering and payment system because the current setup clearly cannot handle a full crowd. We didn't finally get out of there until about 1:20am just because we waited to pay. The server was slightly apologetic, but no discounts or anything were offered after a pretty chaotic night. Desi Banks was funny. Everything else? Not so much.
