I guess January is the most awesome time to visit. Whether was nice and warm, with snow play still available in the parking lot and on the trails. Perfect day to be outdoor. -Park is very well kept and accessible for all. The North Cove Trail was a walk in the pak with stunning display of different trees. Look carefully, wild mushroom has been inoculated and is ready for their debuted. -Visitor center and ranger were very informative. -Pro tip: if your family is the outdoorsy type, buy a California State Park Pass - include entrance to this place and you can skip the line when visiting on a busy weekend....

Beautiful state park with giant sequoias, easy trail which is beginner friendly. Points of interest…read moreinclude a large tree stump which is large enough to be a little stage, fallen ancient giants, humongous exposed roots, hollowed out tree stumps which kids can walk through etc. Apparently the people who took care of the park previously cut out a hollow in one of the trees as a point of attraction for cars and people to walk through to compete with other such parks. The tree finally gave away and fell during a heavy rain a few years ago. We took the north grove trail, with kids and toddlers it took us about an hour with several photo stops. There is no elevation so it was an easy stroll. There is no signal in the park. But since it's a single loop, there is no possibility of getting lost.

What an amazing day at Columbia State Park. Weather was good but starting to warm up in the…read moreafternoon , so was super nice most of the day. Bring a hat, and sunscreen Took my wife for mother's day up to Tuolumne county, While there tonight we would go to Columbia state park, my old stomping ground with the fire dept and working with cal fire, and there air retardant planes. Been along while but some of the memories are there. Meanwhile back at the trip forgive my ADHD brain. lol Columbia State park is awesome. If you like history of California and a lot of the gold rush , a good part is here and can learn and shop like you are in the old west. Yes that's right! The staff and such all wear clothing from that time. There is even a stage coach with beautiful huge horses. (If you are allergic they are easily avoidable, but from afar they are gorgeous. Yes I'm allergic, it sucks I love animals. If you are allergic just fyi) Anyways, if you never have gone, ? GO! If you like theater / Live Plays, be sure to check out the "Fallon House Theater", so you might be planning a nice little romantic date night, theater , and icecream .. Or a day trip with the family , there is some good restaurants in town and lots to do with familiy or loved one, candle making, which is a different shop, from the candle store... But you get my drift, theres lots to do, date night / day, or day out with the family....

My three year old son and I walked into the office to request a tour of the storage facilities. The…read moremanager had a large unleashed dog on the premises that was aggressive towards my son ultimately making my son cry. While I will not demonize any bread of dog, this dog was about three times my son's weight and almost as tall. The dog was bumping him with his nose / head and sniffing him aggressively, a clear signal the dog was in distress. Despite my attempts to get between my son and the dog, the dog continued to walk around me to get to my son and also growled at my son. My son stood still as he was taught. When I finally picked my son up because he was starting to cry even louder, the dog kept standing up on its hind legs to continue the aggressive sniffing, despite my efforts to block the dog with my knee. My son was quite upset by this time as the dog would not leave him alone. I asked the manager to control her dog, but she was unable to. She blew some whistle that had no impact on the dog, but she never made any effort to stop the dog, verbally or physically, beyond blowing the whistle. When we finally squeezed out the front door blocking this dog inside, the manager stepped outside to speak with us. I told the manager that she has no control of her dog, to which she replied the dog is not hers. She then clarified that the dog is in her possession as the dog's owner recently passed away. Finally, she stated that we (as in my son and I) were the first problem. What great tact, though I am sure she was trying to say she has not seen such behavior from the dog before. I had to remind her that she had no control of the dog and therefore has no business letting the dog run free. Obviously, we do not plan to rent here. Updated post Keri's response to my review: Keri, while I appreciated the fact that you called me prior to me finishing posting this review, let me add a few key points regarding our conversation: 1) Blaming me for not picking up my son immediately when the dog approached him was not really helpful. 2) Claiming the dog was Lisa's emotional support dog after Lisa stated the dog was not hers was not very honest. 3) You have my permission to post the video here. I would if I had access to it, but I will work on getting access to the video in the meantime.
