My 42 yo client is wheelchair bound and unable to move any part of her body without full assistance. Family depends on haudralic hoyer lift that moves her from one surface to another. It broke. Called all around to get it fixed. The company who she got it from said she couldnt get a new one because it was not 5 yrs old yet and insurance would not cover. Couldnt tell us where to even get a loaner. They didn't know who could even look at it to get it fixed. One medical company I found requested they take the lift in to have it checked. The lift is a few hundred pounds and would require an open bed truck. Looked at purchasing a new lift but it was over $1000. Anyways, 2 weeks later the mom saw this place while driving by and decided to walk in and just ask. A gentleman greeted her and explained they don't do small items by if she could just bring in the hydraulic part, he would be happy to look at it. The next day they fixed the part while she waited and when mom asked for the charge, he handed the part back and said...early Xmas gift. Dont think this staff realized how much this meant for the family/pt. My client no longer had to sit in the wheelchair all day until her brother got off work to help her 2 elderly parents manually lift her back into bed. When she wanted to get onto the toilet, she could now without having to sit in a dirty diaper all day. Thank you guys for extending a hand to help. The family were in tears when they finally got the lift working again.
