It's fun to visit, but I wouldn't want to live here....it's probably cause I'm old, and I want…read morespace. The shops and restaurants are varied and wonderful. The fests are great, but the housing? Nah. I'm a suburban girl, and I want room. I want a yard! I want to be able to blast my music without disturbing anyone, or hearing theirs! I don't want to be able to reach out my window and hand my neighbor a cup of sugar! Therefore, Bay View, we can never be more than friends. I'll continue to visit, if you'll have me. 73/2023

My first real job was at Kohl's food store, which is now Outpost. I worked the bakery ;) There always were lots of hair shops here. And now those have mushroomed even more. As well, of course, as the multitude of bars and restaurants. Kinnickinnic ave is the main strip and most all things access through this street. Kinnickinnic turns into 1st St then Water St -- the main gateway to downtown. South Shore beach is home of the Frolics, a summer parade and party, a lovey farmers market and areas to take strolls, have picnics or dock your boat. The neighborhood has it's challenges at times (how many don't?) but I hope this can get corrected over time. Bay View truly is a beautiful, fun, pretty, eclectic, trendy, hipster, accepting place to be. Anything you need you'll get it here.

If you travel frequently, you know that Global Entry (along with its domestic cousin TSA Precheck)…read moreis indispensable. For $100 you get 5 years of expedited access - no taking off shoes, no pulling liquid or laptops - a bargain and even better because my credit card pays the fee. Anyway, my GE expired in 2020 so I started my renewal in March and then Corona hit. You have to do a short in person interview and there was nothing, literally nothing available for the rest of the year. I checked back after Jan 1st and to my delight, there was availability! So I headed over to a boring office building near the airport (next to Denny's) and was taken care of by a super nice border agent. The whole thing took maybe 10 minutes and as a bonus I don't look like a crackhead on my ID card. Looking forward to LOTS of travel when it's safe again!

Not bad for a government agency. Quicker and more pleasant than the post office or DMV!…read moreAppointments are required. Me and the Mrs came here to get approved for TSA fast tracking so we can get thru customs quicker when returning back to the USA. You'll need to apply online in advance and make an appointment. Be sure to bring your Passport, our passports were new and we had to sign them in the presence of a US Customs officer. Plan ahead for this. We were lucky to get in days before a trip out of the country. Friends of ours had to go to Madison to get their global entry whatchamacallit.

I've been renting in the City of Cudahy for a few years, and it will be interesting to see if…read moreCudahy will be able to rise to the challenge of adapting to the culture of young families and first time homeowners, moving in at a fast pace. 2020 is a major election year, and the City is not keeping its people well-informed. Emailing the City Clerk in August 2020 as the Postmaster General was gutting mail processing centers, I respectfully asked if there would be 24/7 Absentee ballot drop off location availability at both Cudahy voting locations (Library, City Hall), the City Clerk never responded to my simple request with a simple "yes, no, maybe, good idea". *You can drop off your ballot at City Hall in a 24/7 drop box, also for check payments of services. You can of course, always have someone in the City Clerk's office serve as your ballot witness (hours are limited right now). Dropping off my Absentee ballot yesterday, I noticed the City Hall sign announcing that all in-person voting Nov. 3 will now be done at Cudahy High School. There's been no announcement via mail, nothing on the Cudahy website as of (10/7). How does the City Clerk expect his registered voters (especially the elder population) to find out about this? Driving past City Hall? Election information is buried on the City of Cudahy website, and there is no announcement of the High School location for Nov. 3. But Fall Leaf pickup and the very important in-person Trick or Treating are front and center! City services like the Drop Off Center for waste and e-collections are dwindling. Neighbors complain about the Drop Off Center only being open during the work day, and last year it was closed from Nov to April. Got Junk? Now you do! Get it together, Cudahy! *check all official sites or call City Clerk for voting info*
