If I could give this no stars I would! First of all, it's not hard to make an ice cream order... you put ice cream in a cup or cone, add some stuff, then give it to the customer. Sooooo... you give me ALL 4 of orders wrong. Then when I come to you, the manager, whose name was Dale, he tells the other employee to "do whatever we want". So then everyone ignores us, we ask someone what's going to happen, they finally half fix it!!! So THEN we ask you to come to the table and explain the situation because everything STILL at this point is not right! And you loudly tell us you will fix it and then you STILL after all this time, didn't fully fix it! Dale, you are not manager material. This isn't for you. I'm sorry. Went to Culver's for the first time. We are locals to the area.The restaurant was clean, unlike some fast food places around us. The staff seemed knowledgeable about the menu and were able to answer all of our first timer questions. The staff was also very nice. Both the wife and I had their Double Bacon Deluxe burger. The taste was good, not epic, but good. It is definitely better then a McDonald's burger for sure. I'd have to say the closet place with a similar tasting burger is steak and shake. The reason I'm only giving a 4 star rating is because the burger was excessively greasy. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends. I was told by a friend that this place had the best fried chicken. He told me their fried chicken is far superior to KFC. I plan to try it on my next visit. read more

Never had an issue with food quality at culver's. However, service is starting to slip and one of the most apparent franchises it's slipping at is the Merrilville, IN franchise. On my last visit I had a fairly large order (4 kids meals, 2 adult meals, 1 add'l burger). I didn't check the bag. I got home. 1 adult meal missing, add'l burger missing. I call them up and ask them to refund it since I didn't want to drive back. Manager on the phone says no problem. I wait a week for the refund before I call back because I figure they're busy, it happens. I get on the phone with a manager who says he can't refund something he has no idea about from 8 days ago. It's not policy. I don't know - I guess I assumed too much: 1. that the employees would be able to fill an order correctly - that I wouldn't have to check up on them. 2. that they would make it right and return the money they charged for the goods they did not provide. The lesson I have learned is that I will not be back at this Culver's again, and that Mr. Culver needs to step it up on the quality of customer service, particularly at this branch. read more

We always enjoy our local Culver's in Libertyville IL., so we were confident the Merrillville Culver's would be nice. The custard cone we got was dripping down the employee's hand as she handed it to me, and got all over my hand. When I showed this to the Manager, as unacceptable, he was was rude, and asked if we wanted our coupons back. Not an apology, and offer to fix the problem. If I could I would give 0 stars. My family and I have been coming to this location for years. We have not had a problem, and if we did it was fixed, until today! Manager Rich has no customer service skills at all. He can't even turn around to address customers when they are talking to him! I've taken management classes and was always told...customer is always right, he didn't even care to hear our side. When we initially asked for a manager , he sent someone else out to talk to us. Later on they said she was a manager too. If that's the case, why did she say, I'll be back, let me go talk to my manager. We will NEVER go back to this location again! We stopped here earlier today while driving from Chicago to Indianapolis. This was only my 2nd or 3rd time at any Culver's. Both my husband and I ordered a fried cod sandwich basket. Pros: Restaurant was immaculate. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was delivered quickly and pleasantly. Delicious fries. Cons: The sandwich had absolutely no flavor other than lettuce - none. It looked beautiful though! I asked my husband how his tasted. He,too, said it was strange in that it had zero flavor, tasted like water. There was no extra tarter sauce available and neither one of us felt like going up to the counter. Total waste of calories! McDonald's fillet of fish is tastier, believe it or not. I'll eat anything. Well, almost anything. I made the mistake or ordering the walleye sandwich. The first bite was gross. It smelled and tasted way too "fishy". The fish skin was very present. I flipped to the opposite side and the second bite was even worse- It came with a fish scale too. I know fish have skin and scales, but a good monger or kitchen prep cook cleans up the fish funk before it hits the batter and the deep fryer. Went to the crown point location where they messed up all three of my orders. Asked for 8 pc buffalo got 8 pc regular tenders. Asked for no mayo on deluxe got mayo. Asked for a double got a single sourdough melt. To top it all off being wrong it was cold! I called the girl sent me not only the 3 baskets they messed up but three more. Great. So I go get three baskets a week later upgraded to concrete mixers. Everything was completely fine! Went to do the same for the other three and was told I couldn't upgrade. Umm that's what I got when I placed my order I told him. He told me if he ever sees me at his restaurant he will call the police on me. So let me get this right.... your place messed up my food sent me coupons for YOUR mistake and now I'm the bad guy for getting an upgrade??? Obviously the manager handling thought the mess up was pretty bad that they sent me double what I ordered. There's always a piece of cheese hanging half off the bun, or it's usually covered in way too much of *one* topping (like mayo) and not enough of another (like pickles). But three times in a row from this Merrillville location, I have gotten a burger so perfect you could take a picture and frame it. Horrible idea for the worst meal I've ever had-trying Culvers for the first time. Ordered a kids grilled cheese meal with fries and a root beer. First of all the grilled cheese sandwich tasted like cardboard. Next, the fries didn't have any salt on them whatsoever. Finally, the root beer tasted great, but my cup was leaking...everywhere. We went to this Culver's yesterday for my birthday. I decided to order flavor of the day...turtle ice cream( vanilla ice cream, pecans, bits of chocolate and swirls of caramel...at least that was the picture). I received it and never found one bit of chocolate or swirl of caramel! Plus it took me two tries for them to get it right! A lot of workers standing around talking with very little, if any, adult supervision! Decided to try another Culver's on way home to see comparison. Make this the 33rd Culver's I've been too. Nevertheless when my good lad and I pulled up we saw that something wasn't quite right. As we made the left turn into the lot we saw a horrific scene. Twisted metal, shattered glass, red liquid everywhere, the sight we witnessed was truly unimaginable. Despite the unfathomable scene we witnessed we still were served almost immediately. All while a man was being airlifted to a hospital right outside. As we sat and enjoyed our meal to the delightful tunes that Culver's had playing, I knew that we had made the right decision in going there. Uses burglary tools and wants to take a picture of my card for payment. Called from Southlake Mall, a pretty huge landmark-right down the road and the person on the phone did not know where it was. I had a reputable local locksmith that showed up in a company vehicle the last time this happened. Paid about half for the service. I would not recommend this lockout service to anyone, ever. I'm tried of your drive thru putting these "hard" plastic, V shaped, customer waiting numbers on my door handle! Hard plastic, sharp corners, against the paint is scratching it. Last night I didn't pull all the way up, and she reached out and put it thru the door handle. I quickly removed it and told her your scratching the paint. They don't ask, they just do it. Usually, I love a trip to Culver's. However, my last trip was a waste of $10. I specifically asked for no gravy due to a wheat allergy. Despite saying no gravy, both my mashed potatoes and meat were covered in it. Too bad I didn't notice until I was on the road. I called the manager for a refund, but haven't seen a dime. My kids and I love Culvers!! It's food that's of high quality delivered in a restaurant setting, but with fast food convenience. The kids meals come with ice cream that you can get right away or save the token for a treat another time.
