I can't order a sandwich at this location because they always mess it up. Chicken tenders for me. Tables are never clean. I always have to pull forward and their drive time is insanely long. Definitely don't go on a lunch break. Also the OWNER reached out to me in a rude way for my last review so DON'T GO HERE. The only good thing about this place is the staff isn't on drugs and generally is nice, or atleast nice enough. Cook at home it's better quality and not ridiculously overpriced, someone please tell me why Culver's is so overpriced for McDonald's quality food. read more

Not expecting much for a fast food joint and been to Culver's all over. Food is what it is, better than most fast food. Service at this particular location was horrible. The person who took our order couldn't get it straight to save her life, put her fingers inside our drink cups and ignored us when we asked to have our order repeated. Another employee decided to fill her drink cup, pushing us aside as we were about to grab our drinks. As we waited for our food multiple customers didn't get their orders or the orders were wrong. Ordered food for my family on the Culver's app. We got there and decided to eat on the outside patio. A worker brought the food out to us. We were missing a burger so my mom went back in to get the burger. They didn't believe her and even went as far as getting the manager. They were so rude. Then I went in to order ice cream. My aunt ordered after me and got her ice cream before me. So I asked them what was going on. They then said they already gave it to me. I told them they didn't and they didn't believe me. Took my receipt and went looking for the order on their end. Still didn't believe me until one worker said "oh I gave it to someone else". All of the employees were extremely rude. The food is okay here. Nothing to write home about. Certainly passable. I had the chili. And a side salad. The salad was pretty tame a couple of tomatoes and a cucumber, and some cheese sprinkled on top. The chili was okay. Kind of greasy and it lacked any real flavor profile or heat. The texture was really smooth but without anything standing out it was flat out bland. It was externally hot and burned the roof of my mouth. That's quite a surprise in fast food. My wife had an okay hamburger, fries and a custard. The custard was supposed to be Snickers, but it seemed to be short of ingredients. Not great at all. Again lacking flavors that defined themselves. Here is where it went really wrong. The service was slow. Really slow. One girl seemed really energetic and was working hard. The rest were collecting a paycheck. The cooks seemed busy, but the front of the house was really slow. There was a problem with the loading of a gift card and the girl taking our order just walked away and the restaurant stopped taking orders. Like for 5-10 minutes. Really poor. The restaurant seemed clean, but there was a worker sleeping in the front. Classless. Sleeping in the restaurant should not be allowed. A break room would be a better spot. Dude took up a whole table with his hat pulled down over his face. One look you could tell no one cared. A warm body to fill a spot I guess. Really disappointed in Culver's. read more

The first time I've ever been to Culvers was about 4 years ago when I was in Sandy Utah. I was with a co-worker and she recommended Culvers because she knows I love burgers and fries. When I was driving to Ottumwa for a meeting, I was thinking about Culvers and luckily there was a Culvers about 2 miles away from me. When I walked in, everyone was so nice, the place was very clean and I ordered the following: Deluxe single with cheese - it had cheese, lettuce, tomato and onion. It was so yummy!!!! I got it with a side of cheese curds (delicious!!) 4 piece tenders - I had to try the tenders. It was tender and very juicy. I wish there was a Culvers near my home, I would go there at least once a week. read more

We were traveling through and stopped for lunch. We had been to Culver's in other cities and liked them. First of all, the entryway smelled like throw up. The entire restaurant just felt dirty and smelled like they had cleaned with dirty mop water. We probably would have walked out but we were very hungry and hadn't seen any other restaurants that sounded good. Our food was okay, but not the quality we've had at other Culver's. Stopped in today and had a double bacon sandwich. Wow its not good. Dont know if they changed the meat but it was not good at all. Flavor was all gone meat was very dry. What happened it use to be the best sandwiches you could buy. Well not going there until it goes back to Normal. I'll go to somewhere else. Ordered a Malt...staff handed me my drink and it was like Strawberry milk. I told her I ordered a malt and if this is normal. She stated it had set in the sun by the window, there was a long line, but she chose to give it to me anyway. I asked for a new one because they never offered. Manager just added ice cream. I ordered the Wisconsin Cheese burger. It has two beef patties with three different kinds of cheese. Unfortunately, the patties were almost thinner than the cheese. I'll never order this again and very likely will go to a different restaurant. It's too bad because we have always gotten good service from other Culvers in the Des Moines area. read more

After I got my food, I didn't realize that I was missing a sandwich until I got home. I called and they said that I would be able to come back and get it. When I returned, they not only gave me a sandwich, but 2 complimentary pints of ice cream. I would have been happy just to get the burger, but they really went above and beyond what I was expecting. If you go to a fast food chain in Ottumwa, this is your best bet. They have a decent grilled cheese sandwich (unusual for fast food). Nice frozen custard desserts. They offer a grilled onion option on the burgers (you have to specify grilled when you order). Great place for kids. read more
