Group classes! Love instructors and the workouts with weights etc. large pool and good motivation

They have lots of times available for swim lessons. That's what drew us here. We were able to schedule online and find a session that suited our needs. Once we arrived for our lessons, several weeks after registration, we recognized that it was a bit chaotic. There were parents and children everywhere. Directions were not clear on where to stand and how groups were being identified. I asked several workers for instructions and was passed along to someone else. After about 10 minutes, someone did make an announcement for the next session times and called the children by name. However, none of the employees seemed to know that was happening. I wish I could say that the chaos ended after that first week. But instead it only lessened. When our lessons concluded, the instructor gave my son a certificate with the wrong name on it. She had to ask who he was after 6 weeks of instructing him. Chaos. read more

It was good. We were traveling and spent a day there. It was basically a YMCA pool. Cheap. Easy. Kids had a good time!

We came here for the state swim meet. The facility is large and the parking was well organized, using lots from nearly facilities. The entry and exit was well-run. The bullpens for the meet were all outside in the back. Some parts were shaded and there were pavilions and umbrellas surrounding the lazy river and slide. It was great because the kids were able to use the lazy river and slide while waiting for their race. There is also a leisure pool inside, which is good for younger kids. There was a good amount of bleacher seating inside, but the competition pool was in the corner and if you didn't have a seat in front of that pool, it was hard to see. There were also people standing and sitting in the walkway, but that was quickly cleared up by the local police. The meet did run a little slow, but overall was very organized. There were concessions both inside and outside serving real food at a reasonable price. read more

This review is only for the outdoor pool. The pool is really fun! Great for younger kids. There's a large splash area with lots of dumping buckets and some spray guns and slides for the littles. The 'lazy river' is fun to go around and around. The big slide is for 48" and up and it is a blast. We are visiting family from out of town and were so bummed out that they close the pool during the weekdays immediately when school starts. It's only the beginning of August! We were happy to discover they offered a homeschool day while we were in town so we could check it out without dealing with weekend crowds. read more

I swim with Chattahoochee gold and came for a meet here. It was a horrible experience. The life guards were rude and invasive, the ladies at the reception desk were more rude than anyone, (they were watching Grey's anatomy on the computer and talking trash about people) and the girls sitting at the concession stand we're doing nothing but talking and laughing at boys on their phone(s). This place is not worth paying to come to AT ALL. read more

My kids have been taking swimming lessons here for the past 3 years. Each summer it has gotten worse. This current session will be the last. Swimming lessons at the facility are very disorganized. Management is always looking for teachers to teach/ substitute classes. For one session(8 classes), they had 5 different teachers. How are they supposed to be evaluated/taught properly if they don't have a consistent instructor? Most of the instructors are not there to teach, but only watch the kids. They don't utilize the time to teach the students the correct technique. Unfortunately, I'm not the only one who has had the same experience in the reviews. read more

When the kids were little they loved the play pad, now I go for the classes.. you can get your kids used to the water so early & east now, you can go for sculpting, training, Aqua therepy, Zumba, there are silver sneakers sessions, water volleyball and if you are a walker then you can come walk the lazy river on weekday mornings before it get busy. I hate that this is so far away from me, but it's such a blast when we actually make the trek to visit for the morning. We always arrive by 9:40 to wait in line (doesn't open until 10am), to ensure a great spot once inside. The food is priced to be affordable, which I really appreciate. They have three combo meals (including chips and a drink)- pizza, a hotdog, or a sub from Lenny's Subs. They have PB&J, yogurt, nachos, pretzels, and lots of ice cream treats as well. The lifeguards do a great job of keeping everyone safe, and they rotate positions every 30-45 minutes. The only thing I dislike is that there are two sessions (10-2 and 2:30-6:30), and you must leave and get back in line and pay again to stay for both sessions. read more

Safely and cleanliness is an issue at this facility. Water standing and trash in floors. A lot of younger staff sitting around on desks and talking when someone should be sweeping up excess water in floors. I've asked to talk to the director at the center and other staff told me that they were not on site. Very young children running around not supervised in locker rooms and restrooms. There should be some guidelines for child safety. Issue with outdoor pool being over capacity and people not being allowed to enter, but no one monitoring people leaving to determine if it is truly over capacity. Plenty of lifeguards, which is great. Just not any custodians seen anywhere. Nice lady inside checking people in, but no management available to discuss problem issues. read more

The Cumming Aquatic Center opened last year (2013) and it is seriously a great place! It is kind of funny, because it's this huge place up in Cumming, kind of in the middle of nowhere (off exit 16), but it's definitely worth checking out. Once you get to the center you have the option to stay outside or go inside. The inside pools are for swim lessons and classes, and the outside is a whole huge sprayground/splash pad/waterpark. The swim lessons here have been the cheapest I have seen around, and the instructors are legit. Outside is where the real fun is! $5 for adults and $4 for kids 2-17 (under 2 are free), you get half day admission to their outdoor waterpark. They have 2 sessions, one in the morning (like 10-2), and then one in the afternoon (lke 2:30-closing), and you have to pay for each session. However, 4 hours is more than enough time here, and I like the morning session. There is a big waterslide which is super fun for people over 48 inches tall, but there is much more as well. You start off with a very shallow pool that has a huge play structure (think real playground structure). It's equipped with slides that dump the kids into the water, spray guns, and a huge bucket that dumps water every few minutes. There are also random buckets dumping overhead and filling up constantly. From there the pool gets a bit deeper and feeds into a 'lazy' river. This river has the strongest pull I have ever felt on a 'lazy' river though, and will pull you around it pretty quickly. You can opt for one of 2 ways, one more relaxing, and the other will get you soaked from more buckets pouring overhead. There are tons of chairs/loungers/umbrellas, and there are also pavilions that can be rented out. There are always life guards looking out, and I have found that they are really paying attention to the kids swimming, which is nice for a change. They also have a big concession stand that totally doesn't rip you off. They have food like pizza and ice cream, and little snacks and drinks as well. I was surprised that the Cumming Aquatic Center wasn't on Yelp yet, but also kind of happy....it seems like a somewhat undiscovered gem and I am sure in the next year it's going to get crazy busy all the time. read more

I've taken my niece here for swim lessons a few times and I've been very impressed with past instructors and their teaching skills. I recently took her for a lesson and i was incredibly disappointed by the teaching style of, Alex, one of the preschool instructors. I've seen my niece swim by herself in lower levels and with this new instructor she won't leave the wall or swim at all. He won't push her to do anything, the parents are paying for 30 minutes of play time. very disappointed. read more

Carla I truly apologize if you felt my comments expressing my first amendment right to free speech has caused you to feel I've made inflammatory comments. I have only written what so many others have already said on Google, Yelp and your own centers Facebook page before all comments were deleted. I spent 40 years in upper management and I can assure you when my customers offered constructive criticism I listened carefully and did my very best to make sure that every issue was looked into and corrected. I never pushed customers off to my superiors. Especially since your supervisor is Cumming City Hall. Everyone knows that trying to deal with any City Hall is a nightmare. It is just unheard of to do this. My only goal was to make you aware of what the majority of the senior citizens were saying during our adult time. Hopefully the issues have been addressed and corrected. I will no longer use your facility and this is my last communication with you. I'm praying that the other senior citizens will benefit from my review. From my conversations with many of them they have already noticed several of the issues addressed that I spoke of. I want to thank you for acting appropriately. I wish you well in your endeavors as a manager. I had to write this reviews because I was traumatized by what I saw this morning. I was bringing my little one to an ISR swim lesson when a small class of 3 year old was taking a swim lesson class. I was sitting and chatting next to a mom who's son was in the class. All of a sudden, she jumps up screaming "Get him! Get him!" Her son was submerged and struggling under water, he had to be under for what seemed minutes. The teacher had her back to the other children while she worked with one child. A life guard was standing literally behind the other children and no one saw this child drowning. The mother leaped into the pool fully clothed and grabbed her child and got out crying. The life guard nonchalantly strolled over to her and asked if he was ok. The rest of the moms sat around silent and in shock. The whole experience really shook me up and was eye opening to how easy it is for them to drown, even in a small class with a life guard standing over them. Moral of the story, do NOT take your eyes off your child. If that mom had gone to the bathroom or stepped out for a call, who knows if someone would have saw that child. read more

My family and I recently moved to Cumming and my 2 young boys were super excited to learn the Cumming Aquatic Center was only minutes from our new home. We found it to be a very nice, well maintained facility with friendly staff and lifeguards. The best part for me was the price. It only cost $5 for me and $4 a piece for my boys. Can't beat that! They have a great concession stand with affordable prices too. Although, they do allow coolers so you can bring stuff to eat and drink if you don't want to buy from the concessions. They also offer private, semi private and group swim lessons at a reasonable rate. I'm planning to enroll both boys in private lessons for $35 per 30 minute class. There are so many other amenities, I could write a multi page review! Birthday parties, cabana rentals, classes, meets and other events, just to name a few! read more

I have been coming to the Cumming Aquatic Center for years now since they opened. I use the instructional pool in the winter time and the outdoor pool during the summer. I have had a lot of great memories there. The instructional pool is great because the temperature is warm but not so warm that I feel like I'm going to have a heart attack when I do any type of physical activity for a period of time. I have been to some pools that keep the water at 88 degrees or higher, which is crazy and dangerous. I think they said they keep it between 83-86 which works just fine for me. I know many people I swim with at the aquatic center wish the temps were higher but I don't think they know the consequences of this. I'm the kind of guy that has always said: "if you don't like it, go somewhere else" and I express that to these people. I have attended many of the classes at the center and can tell you that I wouldn't want to go anywhere else because this facility is top notch. I will say that there are lots of different groups that use the facility which honestly is what it was built for. Having this many programs does limit the hours somewhat for any specific group but they have plenty of hours to make it work and the center schedules these hours months in advance so you can work your schedule around them. Its not just for any specific group which is what makes it so great because many kids learn to swim at the facility as well as many adults get to either swim laps or take classes or enjoy the outdoor waterpark which is amazing. Overall I am so happy the Cumming Aquatic Center was built for our community. read more

Took private swim lessons here and our coach was great! Locker rooms were a bit dirty with lots of hair in the showers and on the floor. There was even a bathing suit in the middle of the floor with no one around to claim it. Our lessons were over at 5:30 and the attendant said the outside swim area was open until 6. We were hoping to play for the last 30 minutes but we were told we would have to pay full price admission. It would have been nice to have a free day pass for the kids that took private swim lessons or something equivalent. After spending a lot of money on private lessons, I definitely didn't want to fork over another fortune for us to all play for 30 minutes or less. read more

I went here on a Monday with my sister and nieces 2, 16, and 17. We all had fun and it wasn't crowded. There is a cool water slide for the older kids and the lazy river is fun for all ages. It's a nice place to go to just relax and not have to walk all over the place. Some people weren't watching their kids though, causing the life guards to have to repeatedly blow their whistles at tiny children. read more

I've been to 30+ different Aquatic centers in my life, and Cumming Aquatic Center is in the top three for sure. Facility is clean, and they don't let old people run the place (if you can't swim a lap, they kick you out of the lap pool, if the temp is too cold for your old self go to the instructional pool.) The comp pool is amazing and huge thanks to the South Forsyth residents for subsidizing it. Amazing facility only a couple like it in Georgia. Where else can you find a 50m pool? 500,000 gallons of potable water people, and I get to swim laps in it. read more

I recently enrolled my 3 and 5 year old in swim lessons, preschool 1 here. The very 1st lesson, my 3 year old walked off of the step and fell into the water. The instructor was in the water while the lifegaurd was supposed to be watching the kids waiting their turn. No one noticed my son in the water, I screamed "Help HIm" , jumped off of the bleachers, ran and jumped into the water and pulled my baby out of the water. The lifeguard never moved, then asked me "he ok?" He never checked him, never apologized. The center never reached out to me, except the instructor who profusely apologized. I thank the Lord everyday that I was not in the bathroom, on my phone, not paying attention, etc. Please watch your children, even in this controlled setting. read more

This is a very good place to have swim meets. I do happen to have something to complain about because I just competed in a 200 medley relay with breast stroke, but sadly they did not get my split time because lane 2 pad is messed up. I'm very upset about the situation. My coaches actually said that it was my best swim all season and now I don't even have the time. Went there once. I was 9 months pregnant and wanted to sit in the indoor heated pool. I had my 14 yr old son with me. No one else was there and they said it was not the time for kids to swim in that designated area. Fine. I asked if he could just sit in the area while I swam. They said No. He could only be in the lap pool. I am short and cannot stand in that pool. They said I had to be in the water with him. We left. I live across the street and have not been back. That was 2 yrs ago. Also the aquatic center in Gwinnett county has discounts for county residents. No such discount here. No customer service. read more

Great fun place except for two things, the extremely strict life guards and the unclean water. The life guards here are pushy and loud and as for the water, my sister swam in their indoor pool and the water park outside and two days later had an awful UTI for almost a week!! BEWARE! BEWARE! BEWARE! Rude people manage this place! My doctor told me that I need to start swimming for exercise because I have rheumatoid arthritis. It is a crippling and destructive disease, and I need to be in a heated pool in water that will not put extra stress on my joints. I am in my early 40's. I work full time and take care of my young child. I was very hopeful that Cumming Aquatic Center would be the therapeutic help that I so desperately need. I went in on a Wednesday at 5:00pm and asked about a membership to the pool. I found that I could do free swim in the mornings after I take my child to school, and before I go to work. 8am-8:30am is the only window that will work for me, and I was so happy to be able to start swimming and possibly prolong the disabling effects of my disease. I went in the next morning at 8am, after purchasing my membership only 15 hours earlier. Guess what? Their indoor pool is FREEZING! IT IS NOT HEATED! I sat with my legs in the pool trying to get used to it, but my joints were locking up and I knew I could not do this. I also knew they had other pools, so I thought maybe I chosen the wrong one. I went to the front desk to ask them if they have a heated pool, and they do! But it closes for free swimming at 8am! I cannot get there before 8am because I have to care for my child and take him to school. They have therapeutic classes and aerobic classes the rest of the day after 8am- and their only heated pool is closed to all members who are not in those classes. With tears in my eyes, I told the girl at the desk that unfortunately I needed my money back. I didn't really want my money back, I just want to swim in their heated pool! Since that is not an option, I have no choice but to try to cancel this mistake. The girl told me that I had to speak to the manager---- and guess what? He is a total jerk. I was already so sad that I could not swim, because this means my disease is going to have a stronger hold on me. I explained my situation to the manager, and he could care less! Their membership is non-refundable and that is just too bad! Buyer beware! He basically told me it was my fault because I should have bought a $5 trial swim first. I told him that was never offered to me, and I also was never told that their only heated pool would not be available to me. He was really nasty and rude. I left with tears streaming down my face. I am calling my bank to reverse the charges, but mostly I cannot believe that such a nice facility could have such a nasty manager. I will NEVER go back to Cumming Aquatic Center. read more

Their rain check policy STINKS! After paying $27 for 3 of us to have some fun lightening was heard so they closed the leisure pool and issued rain checks. I have been to the Cumming Aquatic Center several times for the lap swimming. The water is crystal clear in all of these pools. It's so nice to swim my routine without having to worry about hair and band aids hitting me in the face. The water temperature in the competition pool is perfect for a workout unlike the Swim Atlanta pool which is frigid. Sometimes the lanes can get pretty crowded because of swim lessons and swim teams; however, if you don't mind sharing a lane, there is always a public lane. I also love coming to this facility because of how friendly the staff are. The front desk lady is so nice to me every time I check in. read more

The swim lesson program at the Cumming Aquatic Center is incredible. My daughter has always been scared of the water. We have tried group lessons before, but she just needed more focused instruction. Her instructor in private lessons has worked with her one on one to conquer her fears and she is swimming and making great progress. They train their swim instructors for group and private lessons in training sessions to make sure that they all are providing the absolute best for the kids in each lesson. Very professional and competent and my daughter likes and truly trusts her instructor. I would recommend the Cumming Aquatic Center to anyone read more

I originally had my 4 year-old daughter in group swim lessons and we had an incident where she came close to drowning. The teachers back was turned to teach another child in her class to swim, when my daughters grip slipped from the wall she was holding. Her dad had to grab her out from under water. We notified management and they handled the situation to their best abilities. I was uncomfortable with one teacher teaching 6 little ones to swim in the deep end with nothing underneath them, just their grip onto the wall. That's when I decided to put her in private swimming lessons and it has been great! I love the teacher, she already has her swimming on her own after a few lessons. Its worth the thirty bucks per session because she gets a full 30 min with the teacher. In group lessons, she would really only get 5 min with the instructor per class. In the summer we enjoy the outdoor pool, but its too crowded with all the daycare children during the week. Finding parking is tough too, be prepared to park in the back. Besides that I would definitely recommend their private lessons for a little one! read more
