I ordered a tub filled with three ice cream scoops; baileys, honeycomb and kinder bueno. My friend ordered coffee, baileys and kinder bueno flavour. We took a table, which was sticky, covered in crumbs and needed a good clean - it was yuck. A pity about the slow service and unkempt state of this place because the ice cream is really gorgeous and visually it's actually a very nice little cafe. The store itself is small but sells all the essentials, I've cream (about 15 flavours), coffee and sweets! Today we went for small tubs, mainly because of how cold it was. My first experience of their quality produce was in a dessert at Bourbon in Belfast, and the ice cream was so good that I HAD to go look it up to keep my taste buds satisfied! They make everything on their own farm and are proud to say that they make everything themselves on the farm with lovingly cared for Jersey Cows! Gone are the days when ice cream was just a poorly frozen block of Vanilla. The flavours here are inventive and delicious. Want some Panna Cotta and Raspberry Pavalova ice Cream? Check. Feel like some chocolate honeycomb crunch? No problem! And the delicious flavours just keep going. It can be hard to find but the largest Supermarkets do sell it! If your local shop doesn't stock it nag them to get it because it really is worth it. They have a large range of delicious locally produced ice-creams available, but this is always the one of choice for me. The shop also offers a range of handmade chocolates that you can but in a pack, or make up your own bespoke package to give to someone as a gift. I went for chilli chicken for 6 - 6 very generous portions came to £20. While I was waiting I noticed a bit of an atmosphere in the place and i asked the guy who was serving me what was happening. He informed me that the boy band Mcfly had just landed in. I said 'what are they doing here?' to which he replied, obviously 'having something to eat.' Being a massive freak when it comes to celebs I had to have a nosy so I stuck my face up against every window in the place until I finally caught a glimpse of them (other people were staring at me as if I was deranged!) When I got home I Google imaged them to make sure it was definitely them - it was. I have to say I am massively impressed with McKees, not only is the food amazing, fresh and local but they sell a great mixture of kitchen goods as well as flowers and gifts AND they even attract celebrities! AWESOME.
