Absolutely wondrous! Staff were very polite and accommodating, I got a lemon, sugar and butter…read morecrepe, the stall is very packed yet the service is quick, but you totally understand why it's so packed when you take your first bite into a crepe that is to die for. I thought the portion size was a lot, not too bad but I probably wouldn't finish it, but instead I ate every last bite satiated and satisfied but wanting more. These crepes are truly to die for, so if you're in the market I would totally recommend here, it's worth the wait!

This is quite possibly the busiest of all the stalls at the Saturday market. During the winter…read moremonths it also calls the market at city hall home, and it's even busier then. I'm really blown away by crepes. I've had them in France years ago with ham and a cracked egg in them and they were great, but the sweet crepes on offer here just don't do it for me. They do however sell by the bucketload. Whether its with sugar, honey lemon or chocolate spread the queue for this place at the height of the day is ridiculous for a market with such variety. I stole a chunk of my girlfriend's sugar and lemon pancake the last time we were there and I will admit it was tasty. Crisp and crunchy around the edges and slightly squishy in the middle. Regardless of what anyone says about this little place it will continue to make a small fortune. I can only imagine the profit margin on crepes, they sell for a reasonable £2 but cost next to nothing to make. I would give them a try if you something sweet to brighten your day but I would have a look elsewhere and avoid the queue too.

I've been a fan of this place since the original opened as a coffee roaster with a couple of stools…read morefor customers to use when buying on site. What sets this place apart is the sheer quality of the coffee and the great refocussing of the experience on the coffee itself. This is something I really appreciate. As a coffee lover it really hits the spot. The choice of foods is really good too, the menu would not be quite as wide ranging as many other places but the focus on quality is great and anything you order should be of top drawer quality. Finally the staff themselves are really nice and the feeling is that they appreciate coffee themselves and rather than seeming aloof about their coffee knowledge, really come across like they really want you to share their love of it.

So I left and went elsewhere for breakfast returning to Root & Branch later for coffee. Staff were extremely helpful and pleasant and I opted for an Ethiopian coffee from their 'brew bar'. I took a seat outside and a few minutes later was served my coffee. Given that it cost £3.20 I was expecting a lot but was disappointed. I particularly like mild coffee but this was just watery and bland. Although it looked pretty served on a wooden board with a glass tumbler and coffee jug, this does not justify the £3.20 price tag. The taste and volume of coffee I received was not worth £3.20. Sadly I'm disappointed and won't return. I'm just growing tired of all these trendy cafes selling grossly overpriced coffee and snacks. My coffee in Root & Branch realistically should have been £2 not £3.20. I was excited to see a nice new cafe open on Ormeau but sadly I am not impressed. There are many other Ormeau Road cafes serving better, cheaper coffee. Additionally Root & Branch don't offer dairy free alternatives such as soya or almond milk which is a let down.
