    Lamb dish (tapas)

Beautiful setting in the Botanic Gardens situated next to the Avon river. There is an extensive herb garden on one side of the old stone house. It was really hot so we ate outside on the side patio under umbrellas with a view of the garden. We had the croquettes , lamb and an amazing salad with goat cheese. It was all delicious ! We had a sweet waitress who was very attentive and nice glasses of wine ( pretty good selection to choose from). A wonderful way to enjoy a warm summer night in Christchurch .

A great spot to enjoy a glass of wine and some tapas after getting lost in the Botanic Gardens. With spectacular views of the Botanic Garden fountain and blooming flowers, it's hard to find a more picturesque location. The Curators House has indoor and outdoor seating which caters to the warm days and the chillier days. Their spanish tapas menu will set you back some dollars, but will leave you satisfied and they have a great list of local and imported wines for pairing.

Curators house, The truth is that ,I did not enjoy the paella,it is once again not authentic Spanish.saying that I also have to say they have the best chorizo I have tasted in Chch. The chorizo can be bought from there shop. I know what I am speaking about I lived in Spain for 20 years and got trained there as a professional chef. The place is gorgeous, and it has a beautiful view.

    Potatoes and croquette

For our last night in Christchurch we stumbled upon this restaurant while exploring the Christchurch Botanic Garden. We ordered potatoes and croquettes. Along with that we had a pitcher or red sangria. Amazing ! Make sure to have the sangria. The atmosphere was astonishing, the staff was super friendly. Definitely check this place out if you're around the area.

Fine dining at its best. The type of place you go to that you always have to order a Scotch Fillet. Staff are always polite and friendly.

The burger w onion jam has easily cracked my top 10 burgers of all time. I'm a burger connoisseur, have had them all over the world, so believe me, I know what I'm talking about. So much flavor! The same can be said about the fried chicken (they boast the best in Christchurch). Being originally from the south eastern United States, I can't speak to the fried chicken at OGB without trying it plain, but it's easily the best I've ever had with toppings. The maple bourbon glaze, the (chipotle?) drizzle and the deli sliced crinkle pickles compliment the dish. Whoever crafted the makeup of the burger and fried chicken really knows what they're doing. Staff is friendly and attentive. I can't speak to the dining room or any of the other items on the menu, but if burgers and fried chicken are something you appreciate, get ready to be grateful when you try them here. Kudos, OGB!

They offer 5 flavors (4 are always the same, one changes) and you can order them by the 1/2 or dozen. I prefer to order the "Dozen Matter" where you can get whichever dumplings you want. My favorite flavors are Garlic Pork and Chive (staple) the Vegetarian option (staple) or Beefroot (speciality: beef + beetroot). They also have chicken dumplings, too. There are 3 sauces to choose from (or get all three) chili, vinegar, soy. You can ask for them to be extra hot if you'd like (as someone who can't stand heat, the chili does have a bite). There is seating in the mall, both at a large communal table and on stools against the dumpling joint. I love sitting at the stools because you can watch the dumplings being made, which provides entertainment while you wait (at least 10 minutes from order time). Street parking is definitely hard to find, and you will need to find a spot longer than 30 minutes. This is not a quick "in and out" option as the dumplings are cooked to order. I definitely recommend driving out of your way to have lunch here. You will not be disappointed as these are some of the best dumplings I have had (outside of New York City)!

With the occasional Chinese restaurant sprinkled in. Because they're in every country. But Thai? From New Zealand? And pretty much the entire crew are Kiwis?? No fruit isn't running this restaurant that's what they call themselves here. This place though.. It was good. Really good! The inside has an upscale look but you don't need to dress classy to eat here. They don't overdo the fact that they are an Asian restaurant. You know how some places can be.. Oooh let's put a tiger in that corner, and oh a Buddha in that corner, maybe a temple print wallpaper.. No no. This place keeps it simple. Staff was great. They don't work for tips in New Zealand but still cared about me just as much. Let's talk food!! The menu runs deep. Like 50 numbers deep. We ordered 3 items. 38-Black Pepper Stir Fry, 20-Pad Thai, 12-Tom Kar which is a soup. Everything had such great flavor. Lots of meat in our dishes to. 3 items and it was plenty for 3 of us. And they make sure to label the menu to let you know what is spicy, and extra spicy. So no surprises here! Oh they also have a small section for Vietnamese food. Shutout to my Viet friends. But.. We didn't order any of that. 5 stars for great food and service!

Go there - you won't regret it.

All delicious. I particularly like the seeded biscuits that came with the hummus. We washed that down with a nice Sauvignon, leaving just enough room for a passion fruit mousse {vegan, GF, DF}. A lovely meal, only marred by the ever-increasing volume from neighbouring groups, which by 7.15 had reached the shouting stage, to the point that any music being played was totally redundant! So yes, l lovely food, but try to get a table in the restaurant, not the bar!

We got in here on a Friday night without a rezy and so glad we did since most people have one. First time I've had an alcoholic ginger beer, with a twist of lime, so divine! Our server gave us the low down on what were the serious kitchen movers, which was spot on! We started with the fried chicken thighs appetizer, just brilliant presentation and tasty with homemade "ranch-like" drizzle, pickled onions, and micro greens. Our mains were the lamb and the grilled salmon. The attention to detail was impressive. The server explained that the potato's used for the lamb are roasted with wagyu fat, which have gave them a smoked, perhaps beefy flavor. The tastiest roasted potatoes I have ever tasted. The salmon was perfectly seared at medium rare, but I think my American palate has become use to medium texture, but still divine! My only suggestion would be to use French green beans as they are more tender than the typical green bean and would better compliment the presentation of the salmon, but that's just getting into the Minutia, perhaps the name for Fiddlesticks next location!
