Formerly Coyote Point Museum, this educational experience is also like a walk into a wilderness wonderland. And it's right off the freeway. When I lived in the San Francisco Bay Area, I'd sometimes take a break here while in between meetings on this side of the bridge. One can spend thirty minutes or hours here. We LOVE Curiodyssey! It's the perfect hands-on /interactive place for kids under 8-10 years! Also the cutest little zoo with some very nice trainers and animals. Gunner the river otter is a big hit and always puts on such a show! The staff is very professional and the animal trainers/volunteers are very knowledgeable and pleasant to interact with. They also have a nice play area for kids to run around and burn some energy! We've hosted 2 birthday parties at this venue that were a hit with all my kiddos friends and their families! Members get a discount on the party package. TBH the membership is very reasonably priced especially for those like us who live close enough to avail a nice spontaneous trip with the kids. My little family and I usually visit CuriOdyssey about twice a month & purchased a family pass almost a year ago. My daughter is 3 and she can't get enough of the science hall and zoo. We usually stay from 10am-2 every time we visit and never have enough time to go through everything! I sadly read some bad reviews and THE ONLY reason I can imagine any kid not enjoying this wonderful little gem is because they're too old for such an adorable little place. This is a wonderful place to take kids (and adults lol) who enjoy learning, activities, and interacting. It's not a big place but there's plenty to do and see in 2 hours. It's located near the airport and a golf course. Had brunch at Par3 on the golf course and walked up the hill to curiodyssey afterwards. There is a picnic area outside the museum with tables and bbq grills and public restrooms. It was a nice setup for a group of people if you wanted to have a bbq. The whole area is gated and you have to pay to park. I think it was $6 at the time of this review. read more

We went on weekday. It wasn't too busy which was great because this place is tiny! I feel like the pricing was pretty high for the experience. There were lots of hands on activities for the kids to play with, hand sanitizers on almost every wall, and an outdoor area with a playground. We couldn't really use the playground because it was packed with a school group and no extra room. The exhibits of animals was interesting. The snakes were especially active. The other animals were mostly curled up sleeping. I would not recommend trying to visit during peak hours because the displays and playground are very limited. The people here are WONDERFUL! The playground is fantastic!! All the kids there were having so much fun. There's just such a good mix of unique things for them to play on, and all the different ages have something just for them. The smallest have a soft hill of artificial turn that has bouncy padding underneath and small easy slides. There are like six different kinds of swings. A tall climbing tepee type thing that turns. Little teeter totters. A couple spinning things for those who like to be dizzy! The hourly animal feedings that include information about the rescued animals is the best part. We saw the bobcats sit at attention to get their snacks and the otters swim and do tricks to get their fish. Our littles were focused on the playground and animals but I saw plenty of parents and kids engrossed in the science building learning all about how things work. I felt my kids were safe inside this small-ish space because I could see almost everywhere, the whole thing is fenced in, and because of covid they only allow so many people inside at a time which has been the best thing I have found to come out of the pandemic- places aren't overly packed any more so you can actually experience a place without fighting a big crowd and worrying about losing your kid! The work this place does is so needed. It is great for our kids and for the animals. I will be supporting this place any way I can and I encourage anyone visiting the area, or living in the bay area, to visit. read more

I've been hearing about this place and finally made it on a Saturday. I was expecting to be very crowded but it wasn't. Easy parking and just good amount of people. If you have Medi-Cal, you can get membership at a very discounted price. It was easy to apply and organized. My little one loves the interactive museum, he wanted to go back. It reminds me of a smaller version of Exploratorium but more younger kid friendly. The animal area is good enough to keep kids busy. Good location. We ended up eating in the park after visiting this which is a good option when it's not windy. Definitely coming back! read more

Such an awesome place to bring your little ones. Our two year old loves CuriOdyssey. Their zoo is filled with adorable (and some creepy) local animals. Our little one especially loves the bobcats, eagles, and sea otter. The zoo is the perfect size. Not too big, not too small. Just the perfect amount amount of nature to hang out with for an afternoon. And when you're done with the zoo, they have an entire interactive, hands-on science museum to go play and learn from. Lots of awesome exhibits that are both fun and educational. I would highly recommend a visit if you have a toddler, and if you live in the area, the annual membership is totally worth it. read more

Came here for the first time even though I've heard so much about it for years. I don't know why I didn't come here sooner. You need to pay 6.00 for parking but it allows you to park anywhere including magic mountain playground. If you buy membership your parking will be free for the year but limited to certain parking lots. They have a large amount of great STEAM things for kids to play with and if you make your way outside there are animals and an aviary. There are picnic tables outside to eat lunch or snacks and if your kids still have a lot of energy you can take the path along the coast to a small beach area and watch planes land at SFO read more

This place is a RIP OFF! Looks good online, and the building looks like it would offer so much, BUT it took us 12 minutes to complete the tour. Nothing to see here but oversized mirrors they've placed all over to make it look "busy". Lots of leaves, trees, bark take up the area and a bunch of Covid-19 signs. It's literally a waste of time. I loved visiting this place with my two year old and family friend's little two year old during our recent out-of-town visit. We spent about 10-15 minutes waiting for the place to open while watching the nearby SFO airplanes fly in from the excellent viewing platform just outside. I was surprised they didn't open earlier given their target demographic. Similarly, we tried to see the special exhibit magic bubble show (first one at 11:30) and upon arriving five minutes before the show were told it was full and the next one wasn't until 12:30. Given a lot of toddlers nap around then or just after and you need to drive home, this was disappointing. Maybe they could have a tiered age entry system although not sure how much our toddlers would have been able to pay attention to the magic part of the show at their age anyways. But on to the good- this place is chalk-full of sensory perception activities encouraging little ones to touch and play with everything. Given the zoo outside, the animal feedings, musical performances, special exhibits, fresh food taco truck/snack and picnic table area. and other activities, I would budget at least two hours if you've never been. My little one loved the wind tunnel exhibit and spent 15 minutes alone playing with that. There's lots of information and science-education as well at most of the exhibits usually involving light, sound, magnetism, chemistry, or physics (lots of wheels/cranks/buttons) of some sort of combination of those. This means that older children can likely learn as well and enjoy the various activities, such as the ping pong ball loader/shooter while little ones will love the circles you turn on the wall which change in color as you move them. The Rube Goldberg machine where the falling balls trigger different paths and movements will likely entertain a wide age range of kids. We were a little disappointed to not be able to make our own little decorative ball at the construction workshop they had setup. We waited in a non-moving line for about 10 minutes before my little one lost patience. Not sure why this happened but might have just been when we went there. The crazy bubbles flying everywhere at the entrance when we entered as well as the cheap ticket price made up for whatever short falls we had in our visit I think. The mental stimulation from this place probably led to a better nap for my kid. You won't be able to walk more then 3-4 ft. without your kid stopping you to check out one of the exhibits. Plus, if you have a membership at a partnership organization you can get 50% off tickets as we did (Atlanta zoo members). read more

My wife and I took our 1 year old boy and we had an amazing time! I actually preferred going to CuriOdyssey over going to San Francisco Zoo. Parking was easy, you only pay $6 (bring cash) to enter Coyote Point park and CuriOdyssey has their own parking lot. We entered the place and right away we were impressed with everything our little one could do. CuriOdyssey is a good blend of science exploration exhibits, interactive exhibits, and of course zoo. We had an absolute blast! Our kiddo was having a ball between seeing all the animals and playing with all the interactive exhibits. There is plenty of shade and there is a little playground and picnic tables to have lunch. I think the highlights of the day was when we watched the feedings. Carmen & Melissa were awesome during the Bobcat feedings, super informative and engaging. Carmen also fed the raccoons and otters, she went above and beyond and put some food on the glass so the animals came right up to my kiddo and licked the glass. We got awesome videos! Great fun for little ones! We enjoyed their special event - Bubbles and Rainbows, which was well organized. My toddler who's 18 months old had a fun morning playing with bubbles, checking out the science activity area and the zoo. The highlight was watching the bobcats being fed. Worth noting that all the animals at the zoo were either previously injured or bred in captivity so can not be released into the wild. CuriOdyssey is located inside Coyote Point. It's about half a mile on the left after passing the guard shack. Parking is $6 parking; cash only. This zoo isn't as large as I thought it would be. All the animals here are rescued and can not be released into the wild. We spent around two hours here and found that it was more than enough time. Notes: -Check out the otter feeding which are Tuesday to Sundays at noon. Being what Hubby calls a ''crazy cat lady'' in the making I made a point of going along for the Bobcat feeding which was really interesting watching. A new feature to the feeding is now that 2 members of staff now come into the closure to feed the Bobcat's themselves and talk to the crowd about them and answer any questions. We are big fans of this place - it's a great place for a toddler. There are lots of hands-on exhibits inside - things to touch and push and rotate. Camille's favorite activity is placing pieces of foam over an air vent and watching them get blown upwards through some vertical tubes (though last time she just hoarded all of the bluish-green ones because it's her current favorite color). Outside they have a few animal exhibits including some playful river otters and some fairly active bobcats. We can usually get done seeing everything in 1-2 hours, perfect for sneaking in a quick trip before or after naptime. Lots of food options in downtown Burlingame, which is just a few minutes away. And if your kid likes airplanes you can watch them fly by on their way to SFO. read more

Kids loved coming here. Brought the cousins to come and they loved the indoor activity area or building things, playing with the wind tunnels, to seeing the reptiles/animals. It is great place to keep the kids busy. Plenty of parking. The additional of that light area was very clubish with the music blaring but the kids loved playing in that room. They loved the lanterns so much we ended up buying those color changing lanterns at the gift store!!!! Parents and kids are well behaved there. First timer here on 1-05-13. So impressive was my visit, that I plan on being a member here for a very long time. If I could give an extra star or two to CuriOdyssey for being a great mini museum of sorts, then I would do it in a heartbeat! This place deserves way more than the 5 star rating I am limited to giving it. Located along the SF Peninsula and nestled in Coyote Point Park, CuriOdyssey is hands down an incredible experience for little ones and adults alike. Admittedly, at first I was expecting a bit more. We had finished with the science part of the museum (indoors) in less than 30 minutes. I even asked the lady working the membership desk if there was an upstairs to the museum to which she replied "no, just the bottom floor." She must get the question a lot since she felt obligated to explain the museum is not like other big named museums. I disagree, this museum stacks up with the best of them, and it was too bad she was short changing/undermining it. The real charm of the museum lies in the outdoor section. There is a zoo area, falcon aviary, garden area, a coyote that stares down at you while the kids are running around crazy--kinda creepy in a cool way. My little two year old had a blast playing with other kids, and looking at all the different animals from falcons, snakes, spiders, bees, a coyote, owls, and lots others. On top of it all, it's pretty cool since the things you're learning about pertain to Bay Area habitat It's pretty easy to spend a half day here going back and forth from watching animals to interactive science exhibits. Equally, impressive were the photograph pictures on the wall. The photographer's theme was nature and man. So while the kids are playing, adults are plenty entertained with the gorgeous view, or perusing photograph art, or you might even find yourself tinkering with science exhibits. Another favorite of my two year old son was the garden area of the museum. There is a small pond and various animals running around scared. My little boy would spot an animal out and point to it; he liked that there wasn't any fences or windows in the way of the animals. He was also pretty excited to see the owl they have in their aviary. Soon as he saw it, he was calling out "look owl!" in excitement. On the day we came, it was overcast and had been drizzling off and on; it was the perfect day to go. The animals were all out and roaming around and I didn't see any of them dozing like at the zoo. In terms of traffic, the museum was a bit crowded. There was a birthday party in the upstairs part (seems like a great spot for a kid's bday). Any review of CuriOdyssey would be remiss if it didn't mention the incredible location the museum sits on. Spend the day at the museum (they close at 5pm) and before you head back to your car/home be sure to take a stroll on the surrounding trail path for breathtaking views of Coyote Point. We visited the first day CuriOdyssey opened after they reopened. Tickets can be reserved online for a particular time slot but it was nice to see some flexibility on arrival (2-2:30 was our window). We were also able to loop around and stay as long as we wanted, though one loop at a leisurely pace turned out to be enough for our school age kids. We ended up spending about an hour there and enjoyed it - including the special activities they had set up toward the exit to the parking lot. Everyone was masked and it was easy for us to stay distanced or quickly move past people. One thing I'd note: there were a couple of indoor spaces on the loop, which I wasn't expecting. Before, you get to the museum you will need to pay $6 at the gate but that will let you into all areas of the park. They are ages 9, 4, and 2. Each one of them enjoyed all the areas of this place from checking out their little zoo area to all the scientific exhibits. I loved that they think they were just playing but throughout it all they were learning why things move in certain ways, feel different, or how and why things makes sounds. When the museum closed we still had time to enjoy Coyote Point by taking a walk around the Marina and catch views of airplanes landing at SFO. For the price you pay to enter I think This place could use some love. definitely needs some upgrades. Half the museum seems abandoned and a lot of the exhibits do not work. the bird area was closed due to " bird flu" understandably. And there is a park area which seems fairly new, that my son enjoyed. I was just disappointed over all. I used to love coming here as a kid. it's in an awesome location overlooking the bay and You can watch the giant planes fly into San Francisco airport. I did see some construction going on so hopefully things will change. I just think there should've been a discount or some type of heads up on what is happening at the museum. you're kind of just left to think the worst as you're going through. read more

Brought my 20 month old here for two hours of exploration and he had a blast. The hands-on exhibits are engaging; they truly foster curiosity and critical thinking. The wildlife area was mundane in my opinion because only some type of bird and an otter were awake/ available for us to observe. Regardless, the entire center encourages children to ask a ton of questions and learn. Do note that you'll have to vigorously pull your little ones away from the awesome wind tunnels in order to explore the rest of the place, because they won't want to leave that exhibit. Outside of the center, you'll want to take a leisurely stroll to wonder at the beautiful waterside/marina view and landscape. I've been to CuriOdyssey multiple times, even when I was younger myself! I took the child I nanny here on Wednesday! We had a lot of fun together and he loved looking at the snakes. We wish there were more animals to look at but the ones they do have are such a sight! We loved playing with the projects inside as well! Wanted to give a special shoutout to one of their volunteers, Mike, Italian mike! He was explaining every thing to the child, "E", I was with! E seemed to love talking with Mike and so did I!! He had a great amount of knowledge and made learning about it fun! Keep volunteering Mike the children love you!!! Only reason for the minus one star would be we were waiting for a show to start in the outdoor classroom and the Keeper was 15-20 minutes late and the animal was very tiny, we were hoping for something a little cooler since she was so late.
