As a twenty-something in a town which seems to cater to an older demographic, I was stoked to find Curl Up & Dye. The gals are on point with hair trends and more than capable of executing. When Kelly was on maternity leave, she had Tyler Brewer handle my cut. Tyler was FANTASTIC. These gals are great. Truly. I'm disappointed to leave this negative review since I heard such great things about this salon. I had long hair and decided to go to a medium length to cut all the dead hair off and start over. I even brought a picture of how I wanted my hair cut. The girl said she could that cut and seemed confident which made me comfortable. I told her I did not want my hair above my shoulders which she said she wouldn't go that short. Well, I ended up with an uneven Bob cut above my shoulders! I will admit that she asked if I'm sure I wanted to cut my long hair before she started to chopped away but I was assuming she knew what she was doing and that it wouldn't be as short and uneven as it turned out. This is not something that can be fixed right now without going shorter which I will NOT do. Guess I'll just let nature take it course and never let anyone touch my hair again! read more

Way overpriced for the quality of work. I scheduled an appointment to bleach my very short hair (2" roots) and a cut. The cut made me look like someone out of the concentration camps and the bleaching left my roots orange. When I came back for a correction then objected that the bleaching cost nearly $100, the stylist had the audacity to come back with, "You weren't even charged for today." Now why should a correction of a botched job even be considered an additional cost? read more

I love this place! The first time I walked in, I had an appointment with Kelly, boss bitch and owner of this fine establishment. I had no idea what to ask for, so I gave her free rein. I was not disappointed! Since that day, we've gone through several styles and colors, and I have never gotten so many compliments and "who does your hair, girl?"s. Kelly helps me to live out all of my hair fantasies. When I wanted my hair to be turquoise, she mixed up the most beautiful teal you could imagine. When I, a dark brunette, wanted platinum blonde, she got me out of there with an awesome shade that suits my skin tone and style. She is mindful of the products she uses and will always stops me before I fry my hair off, as well as giving brutally honest feedback on my "ideas." This lady will flat out tell you if it's a bad one! It might her most valuable service. Although, they do everything from eyelash extensions to nails to facial peels, as well as hair. I love Curl Up & Dye. Kelly, who owns it, it awesome. She always gives me great cuts, as well as fantastic elaborate dye jobs. This is the coolest place in Silver City and definitely competes with salons in larger cities. The vibe there is friendly and hip. Kelly is from Silver City and I like how plugged in to the community she is, she does a lot of good deeds for the locals but doesn't showboat about it. Traveling through Silver City and looked for a place to shake off the dust and get the mop chopped. Tyler gave me a great pixie haircut that will be easy to take care of, and looks really sharp but also cute, with a bit of 80s punk thrown in. Amazing hair cut!!!! I called and said " I am so sorry I need a change I've been trying to get into your salon for six months saying I want something that makes me look like a combination between Taylor Swift and Beyoncé. And I don't want to have to wash my hair or style it or do anything except for wake up and maybe fluff. And I'm a nurse and I don't color my hair and I have to pull it back and I have to look like a professional I love my patients and my hair can't smell like anything. And I need you to fit me in at 4:30 today if you can please please please please please I've been trying to get into your six months." Holy crap, they did - graciously. Went in to get my hair colored with highlights and it came out brassy and orange. Not at all what I had asked for. So when I talked to the owner "Kelly Thai" about getting it fixed she was very rude, unprofessional, and degrading. She refused to fix it or refund because she wanted to fix it on her time only and because I had a family emergency she blew me off. I will not be recommending them nor visiting again! read more

Tyler cut my hair today. I went with a photo from 2013 when I had a super-short pixie and said, "I'm sort of thinking about going this short again." She listened and heard me and made a suggestion for something I never would've come up with on my own and I LOVE IT. She listened. That is key! I'll go back! Highly recommend! read more
