Kathy offers a frequent groomer card, four visits gets your pup a free spa treatment such as teeth brushing. She was pleasant to deal with and I liked the home atmosphere of her business. I would recommend Barks County Dogs to anyone :)

The other day I took all three of my Cavaliers to her and she refused to groom my senior Cavalier. Of course she only spoke to my husband because she knows that she would get a crap load of questions from me. The last two times I took my dogs there and got them have my notice that the insides of their ears had not been trimmed and the ears were not cleaned then I noticed that they were not bathed. If you smell the bottom of your dog's paws and they smell like Fritos, that means your dogs paws did not get any clean water on them. So the last two times that I took my dogs there my husband said you DO shampoo the dogs correct and she said yes and again we got them back and they were not shampood. I would absolutely not recommend this groomer to anybody and right now I'm so angry that I'm thinking about calling the Better Business Bureau. I also noticed that her Facebook account is not active. Maybe that was because I left a horrible review. I am not even kidding when I tell you do not take your dog there.

They took amazing care of and were very patient with her. She had trouble with eating and pooping with the change and they even brought in a chicken her favorite food to get her to eat. I also upgraded to the photo package and recieved double the amount of photos promised during the visit and it really helped me my separation anxiety. I love my cat like my actual baby. Glad I trusted them with her. A+

Why, you ask? Because our daycare package ran out last week, and per usual, we were going to buy it the next time we attended daycare. Unbeknownst to us, they were canceled out of the party, without even a phone call. Lucy and Ethel have been going there 4-5 days per week since they were puppies for almost 8 years now, except during our trips. Why would today be any different? We called and made sure we were rescheduled for the Mardi Gras party, and now we're told it's full and they can't go. This is how they treat their long time loyal customers. We've been consistently buying 30 day packages for almost 8 years, when they first opened their doors. Time to checkout K9. We heard they have a pool. #Feelingdisappointed #Feelinghurt

I'd rather…read morecommute back to Brooklyn--where veterans of color and their pets are actually valued--than deal with this again. --- I used Kayla's grooming services before for my two miniature golden doodles, and when I moved back to the area, I figured I'd return to a place I had previously trusted. After enough frustrating experiences at PetSmart, I decided I'd rather spend extra for consistency, quality care, and to support a fellow veteran-owned small business. Unfortunately, this experience was anything but that. When I called, the person who answered seemed dismissive from the start. I explained who I was and mentioned my one prior visit about a year and a half ago. She asked for my availability, and I told her I was flexible--whenever they had space. She seemed irritated that I didn't use their online portal, but with two dogs, it's often easier to coordinate schedules over the phone. I was upfront about my dogs being a bit fluffier than usual and possibly matted due to a hectic winter, a move, and being a college veteran student managing limited funds. I made it clear I was completely fine with a low cut. That's when the conversation took a turn. She immediately told me they would not be seen due to matting. On top of that, she claimed that during their last visit--over a year and a half ago--my dogs were "problematic." This was the first time I had ever heard that. When I picked them up back in 2024, I distinctly remember Kayla speaking positively about their behavior. If there were concerns, why weren't they communicated then? And more importantly, why ask for my availability at all if you had already decided not to service my dogs? The inconsistency and lack of transparency were frustrating. On top of that, the phone rang endlessly before being answered, and my first call was actually disconnected, forcing me to call back just to speak with someone. For a business that prides itself on quality service, the customer experience felt like an afterthought. I work hard for my money and for my dogs, and I choose to spend it at places that respect both. Choosing to bring your pet here feels like a gamble--you may get great grooming, but you may not get basic respect or clear communication. Lastly, during my first visit, I wasn't aware they offered a veterans discount. When I mentioned that I was a 14-year Army Special Operations veteran, there was no effort made to acknowledge or adjust the pricing. At the end of the day, I'd rather take my time and money back to Brooklyn, where I know veterans of color--and their pets--are treated with the respect and value they deserve.
