This park has it all! Covered picnic tables for parties, bathrooms, basketball hoop area, small kids playground, a big kids playground, lots of benches, swings, drinking foundation, and lots of trees for shade. My kids love this park, it's less than 5 minutes drive to this park for us. I can see this place being a hit with birthday parties, I will definitely keep this place in mind for future gatherings!

Best dog park in Natomas. It was big and beautiful lol that's what she said. Not but seriously I've been to at least 5 other parks and none compare. They have a smaller dog park and a larger one too!! It's huge I had to walk it just to see where it ended. No need for water bowl they have doggie friendly stations. We found some toys to play with but brought our own just in case. From what the people we met everyone is very in clean with waste and watches for aggression. You know how dogs are lol but good thing people here I heard are responsible for any such situation They have doggy pool too but make sure to bring towels!! Trust me from experience lol Good view of the playground, tennis park, and basketball court. All around a great place to bring your Dogs and I guess your kids too haha Only thing I didn't see doggy bags so bring plenty!! I know Herc likes shitting at least 5 times in a new places!

I attended a Memorial Day event at this park a couple of weeks back. I've been in the Natomas area plenty of times over the years, but I never knew this park existed. With that being said, it's a newer park so it's maintained very well. They have a spacious, covered picnic area, which worked out great since it was super hot during the day of the event. They also have basketball courts, a place to play volleyball, 2 playgrounds, a large field to play football/soccer/extreme Frisbee, and a large horse that sprays water from its nose & from the ground. Since it was hot, I didn't explore too much else of the park, so I'm sure there are things here that I haven't listed. My only real complaint was the bathrooms, or lack there of. From what I remember, there was only one port-a-potty for the entire park (from the area I saw anyway).

Valley oak park has a lot of things to do here. And stuff for all ages. You have the younger kids play area and the older kids play area. Then they even have a huge horse that is a water sprayer for the summer time heat . There is a basketball ball court, tennis court, a wall for wall ball, hand ball, butts up what evah yiu might call it they got the wall for it. There is a walking trail that goes around it with i think some of the stretching and minor working out stations. Haven't used them been a while since i looked here. Might easily have it confused with the other many parks i goto.. but i do use this park for the dog park they have. They have 2 one for the small under 25lbs and the bigger over 25lbs. The big dog side has a lot of open space, some hilly sides to it. So you and your dog can get some exercise if you wanna play chase and run with them, if not they have 2 tables and a few benches to sit on! There is a water fountain for the dogs and the humans if anyone gets thirsty. Sometimes people will leave a kids size pool(3 to 4 foot round ones or so) during the summer for the dogs to play in. If it rains out or gets over watered there is a few spots that will get slight muddy, but not to bad. I haven't seen to many dogs during the morning time here. There has been a lot at night and the majority has been huskies. But have seen a few St. Bernards, a dalmatian, Australian sheep herders. The only down side is no bathrooms, not even porto potties. So if yiu come with little kids remember to have them go before you venture to this park, if not there is a shopping plaza close by roughly under 1 mile away.

I'm from Sac.....and hands down........This is the best park I've ever been to in the Sacramento area. I live in Hawaii now, and all the playgrounds there are JUST...bleh. If you're an adult, this place will bring out your inner child. There are 2 play structures - one for children older than 5, one for younger kids, 2 tennis courts, a multi-basketball court, swings, picnic tables, a covered group picnic area with barbecue, two dog parks (big dogs and small dogs), exercise stations for adults along a walking path and several large lawn areas. The park's covered picnic area and HUGE bbq grill looks like it would be perfect for a birthday party or family reunion. The only downside I see about having a party here, though, is that there are NO RESTROOMS. I get it....it's a neighborhood park. If you gotta use the bathroom, just walk home. But, to have a party area big enough for about 100 people and have no bathrooms could be a problem. The best feature, in my opinion, is the 15-foot-tall figure of a horse, which sprays a fine water mist through the horse's nostrils. Also, water sprays out from the ground. All of it is activated by a button that you can step on. It lasts for about 30 seconds. My 2 year old had so much fun. Not to mention, myself and my parents. I've never ever ever seen my parents climb and play at the playground before........which proves that this particular playground brings out your inner child.

Came to this park for the first time for my daughters friends birthday party I really liked all the different options they have basketball hoops for many different sizes which is good for kids who want to stay active that are different ages they have about four parks encompassed in 1 Park has the basketball hoops one Park has a huge jumbo slide and themes another park is like a smaller seashell park for 2 to 4-year-olds there was also a huge picnic area as well as a walking trail in the back I thought it was very clean and a good neighborhood and everyone here was friendly we enjoyed the birthday party it was lots of fun

Great park for the dogs, there's a lot of grass and benches for you to sit at while you dog runs around and plays.

Many years later, I bring my children here and now a few generations later my grandchildren enjoy this park. My dad volunteered at the library at the park for many years and we ended up holding his celebration of life here (both in the rose garden and inside library). I have years of memories of hanging out here using the swimming pool, climbing trees, playing tennis & I used to run around the park when I lived nearby. We had roses planted in the Rose garden for my grandmother, my aunt and a child who died at birth. However, when they were redoing the rose garden, we had to take the plaques with us and now I have my aunts and grandma's plaque in my backyard with the same rose from the original rose garden. Shortly before my mother passed, we brought her to this park in her wheelchair and sat under a tree, enjoying a picnic with three generations of us. Needless to say this park holds numerous cherished memories.

Interestingly, the Sacramento Street Railway Company built the park in 1871 to attract people to take its trains. Then the park became a recreational area around the train line and continued to serve as a gathering spot for the residents in this neighborhood and the greater Sacramento community. Recently, we visited again to hang out with friends who wanted to meet up and have our kids play together and get out their wiggles while we chat and catch up. After the kids played for some time at the (new to us) playground, we walked over to enjoy the pond and to take a walk over to the Rose Garden. There's a path that surrounds the pond so you can get exercise with a view. We saw a lot of ducks and geese that day. Please don't feed them. They were friendly and very used to humans. After hanging out w/said friends of the fowl flavor for a few minutes, we walked towards the Rose Garden to enjoy the beauty of the roses and to people watch as they get their pictures taken and to hang out some more. Overall, I enjoyed visiting McKinley Park again, I really should come down here more often as it's a pretty great park, so big it takes up a whole city block and there's just so much nicely landscaped grounds, plant life, wildlife. It also offers a bunch of facilities to include a community pool, basketball court, a community center, picnic areas w/tables, several sports fields, plus tennis and volleyball courts. A lot offered here in one location!

However, I was having lunch in the area last week and realized I have never reviewed it. The highlight of the park for me is the beautiful World Peace Rose Garden, which is especially stunning right now because all of the roses are in bloom. The gardens' central fountain creates a peaceful atmosphere and makes this a wonderful place to relax and walk around or sit and just enjoy the scenery. I almost always have my dog with me and she loves watching all the squirrels in the park and there are so many settings that make for a great photo ops of her. There are also lots of great manicured paths for me to walk with her. Another thing that I love about this park is the Vietnam Veterans Memorial. As the mother of a veteran, I am always very moved by this tribute to those who have served. The statues are incredibly well done and it's a beautiful space for some quiet reflection. Parking can sometimes be hard and expensive, but it's a lovely park where I am rarely bothered, no matter how busy it can get at times. I definitely recommend stopping by if you haven't already and I will continue to return to this park again and again whenever I'm downtown.

We even came on a windy day, and it was still a wonderful place to be. It is so spacious that it's the perfect spot to fly kites. A few of us were flying kites together, and it was such a relaxing, heartwarming experience. It's incredibly family and dog friendly, super roomy, and has so much going on. Because it's so clean and well maintained, this might just become the park I bring my kids to most often, and it is definitely a top choice for hosting future family events! It is perfect for a workout, sports activities, or just letting the kids play. I love the layout, especially how they designed the two separate grass areas where one sits at a lower elevation, while the other is level with the rest of the park. But honestly, what really blew me away was the restroom. I know that sounds like an exaggeration, but I'm serious! So many park restrooms are cold, dark, dirty, and lacking privacy. This one felt downright luxurious. It is completely temperature controlled, which was especially nice since it was breezy outside! It was warm, well lit, exceptionally clean, and had absolutely no odor. It even sounded like it had a great ventilation system running. The only minor downside was the lack of toilet seat covers, but that's an easy fix. The entire park feels pretty new with a beautiful, modern design, conveniently located right behind the Sky River Casino. Highly recommend checking it out! Rate: 10/10
