I had been informed that I was having a head gasket issue and Madden Auto would be a fantastic place to take it for the fix. I was delighted and had my car towed to Madden with hope. Madden Auto agreed that the head gasket was the issue and therefore did their best to fix that. My car, being incredibly stubborn, foiled all of Madden's attempts. I am pretty sure that this car somewhat traumatized both me and Madden Auto Repair for life! Numerous issues continued to appear and were almost always completely outside of our control making this project seem impossible. Until, Madden Auto made the decision that changed my life, and they bought my car a 'new' used engine. They informed me that not only had they made this decision, but also that they would be helping me with the cost because of all the difficulty. Madden Auto charged me an unbelievably fair rate, far less than I could have received anywhere else. I cried and hugged Vicki tightly as I received my car keys. Madden Auto was incredibly fair, honest, and kind and genuinely gave me one of the biggest gifts I have ever received. The quoted estimate was $1500 for the pads, brake calipers, drums, brake rotors, hardware kits, fluid, and labor. I had seen my car on a lift before taking it to Advantage Auto, and after inspecting the wheels, I knew the brake job was going to be involved (which is part of the reason I didn't want to do it myself). Jason loaned me a car for the day, which I greatly appreciated. AA worked from 9:00 till around 5:30 (they had delays in receiving parts from across town), and got me out of there the same day. My final price of $1300 was lower than the estimated $1500, as they didn't charge me for all the replacement parts. The brakes have been working as needed over the last month. Was it a lot of money? I remember them from before moving as a good shop. I got up yesterday and my Jeep wouldn't start. I am 60, a small woman with one arm. Needless to say, I can't change a battery. I have found that paying for someone to do every that needs done that I cannot, is putting me in financial danger. ( my son did these things before). I called several places and they were just going to tow my car then charge another $200 to put in a battery! one even stated it would take 45 min to instal a new battery! I resorted to calling Tate's as they had nothing stating they would come out to my home. I was having to go put my moms cat to sleep , my mom died in oct and I took her cat. I was so stressed over the costs and not getting the poor kitty in to ease her suffering. Mr O'Brien took his lunch time to come check my vehicle, went and got a battery and replaced it! He did not charge for his extra time, he was being a community member helping another community member in need! I have missed the community aspect of growing up here. Took my now deceased Ford Escape there because of engine light. Told me cylinder 3 was misfiring…read moreand needed plugs and coils along with fuel injection cleaning. Total $860 - long story short - 4 return visits because light kept coming on while they said nothing was wrong. Took it to DFR and in 15 minutes they told me I had coolant intrusion leak and showed me. Only fix - new engine for 10 grand. Thanks Tate - at least it has new plugs!
