The…read moreatmosphere is welcoming, comfortable, and completely free of ego Everyone is friendly, and the trainers are incredibly knowledgeable and focused on helping people succeed. What really sets them apart is how much they genuinely care about their member's health and wellness. The biggest difference for me has been the level of coaching. I deal with back and hip issues and my coach works with me by adjusting exercise so I can continue training safely and effectively. What I appreciate the most is that he doesn't just tell me what to do, he explains why I'm doing it. He takes the time to explain the anatomy behind the movement what muscles we are targeting, and how each exercise supports my overall strength, mobility and long-term health. That level of knowledge and education has helped me feel more confident and invested in my fitness journey. I highly recommend Vigor to anyone looking for expert coaching, a supportive environment, and a team that puts your well-being first!

This is when I reached out to see if she could help. When I say she performed a miracle, I am not joking. I went I to Vigor and she took me to a side room where we did cupping. She first analyzed my body and then went to work! I was lucky enough that she was gentle at first and then as soon as the cupping started she stayed true to what needed to be done. I had never had it done before! It felt as if she was pulling my muscles, cracking the fibers and laying them down perfectly. In the end it felt like I had multiple massages at once and my range of motion was better than before. Completely worth my time and the money! Don't sleep on Cali! She is amazing!

When I'm not rocking it out at Yelp's Fit Club I come here for my regular boot camp classes. I say…read more"boot camp" but really they are just group training classes at a variety of levels. Nobody yells at you and it isn't a super competitive environment either. Usually a class will include a variety of elements--kettlebells, dumbbells, body-weight moves like pushups or situps, cardio--and the instructors are great about giving variations for those that are recovering from an injury or perhaps aren't yet able to do a harder version. You'll generally get a demonstration of each movement, and extra help if you're not getting it right away. Perfect for beginners, with flexibility for regulars to get better over time. This is the perfect setup for me because I've finally come to the conclusion that I will never be motivated enough on my own to really workout hard. I get bored after five minutes on a treadmill. Jogging or riding my bike outside occasionally capture my attention, but that's really only good when the weather supports it and here in Maine that's like two months out of the year. Train Maine also offers personal training or private classes. They have two nice-sized rooms so that a personal training session can go on at the same time as larger group classes. Usually any given class isn't too crowded and the price is extremely reasonable. Plus they offer morning, mid-day and evening classes to meet a variety of needs. The only downside of this location is that there is no shower facility so you really can't workout here and then go to work (or back to work for mid-day classes). You WILL get sweaty, there's no getting around that.

In fact, I forgot the last time I saw a gym, especially in a major city, for that little per month. After my "gym tour" with the one of their very kind staff members, I knew I had found my new local spot for workouts. The gym itself is quite big. It has two levels, with most cardio machines being on the first floor and the weights/dumbbells on the second level. I've been going for a few months now, and these are some of my favorite things: - Always clean - Lots of locker space - All machines have been working flawlessly - They follow Covid-19 protocols, so certain machines are blocked off - 24 hour access (!!!!) - Lots of machines, so I never have to wait around to use a tread, for example - Doesn't get too crowded even during peak hours For $15, I get a LOT more than what I expected. I can cancel at anytime and I didn't even have to pay a fee upfront. They do charge you a $39 one-time fee during the first 30 days of signing up, which apparently locks in your membership price in case of any increases in the future. You can also upgrade your membership to their "premium" version which includes tanning, access to the Theragun and a few other perks.

I have been to many Planet Fitness gyms around the country. See some of my reviews…read more This one in particular caught my attention right away. It is immaculate. The men's room is spotless, like most of the Planet Fitness gyms I've been too. I was in Maine for 2 months. I always saw one employee there daily. He, along with all the staff seemed to go out of their way to welcome members and make the check in experience go smoothly so you can get to your workout. They have a dual sink on the main workout floor so members can wash their hands before, during and after workouts. This is the only gym that I've been to that has this and I love it. Kudos to this Planet Fitness. On one of my last days at the gym I asked that employees, that I see almost every day if I could speak to the manager. He said; " that would be me! " I couldn't believe it. His name is David McGovern, this guy works just as hard if not harder than his employees and it shows. The gym is run so smooth and all his employees are friendly and seem to love being there, which makes so much more enjoyable going to the gym. Thank you Planet Fitness for helping to make our summer vacation in Maine more enjoyable and fabulous.

The showers have glass doors, which are better than the cheap curtains in my opinion. The gym itself seemed clean and employees seemed nice. The only gripe I have, not only at this location but lots of them, is that some of the machines are far too close to each other. Some machines have only 12" or so between them, which is quite uncomfortable when someone is at the machine next to you. There isn't enough space to put weights on your machine without touching the person on the machine next to you.
