You'll find a racist man here by the name of David Bailey, who discriminates against blacks and Hispanics, steals money from former members by not processing their cancellations when they've followed all of the proper processes, and intentionally violates a signed contract by underpaying an employee, all while being the manager of a gym, that is owned by his father, Jason Bailey, who supports everything his son does, and threatens anyone who speaks truth against his son or the gym. Good luck to anyone who joins this gym or cancels their membership at this gym. There's a 50% chance you'll end up in collections with ruined credit, due to these men continuously charging your account after cancelling. Good luck to any black person who enters this gym and has to get serviced by David. If you're black and getting interviewed by him, then you'd have a better chance surviving rabies than getting hired by him. I was the first black man to work here and the only reason was because Jason hired me to exercise his sadistic fantasies towards me. I now understand what his ex-wife had to go through with that wicked man. Every negative review here is true and can be proven. However when it comes to the ones on google, David and Jason ongoingly pay Google to remove most 1 star reviews(the proof is in the emails). Every positive review on Google, Yelp, and Facebook is fake, David and Jason pays members and employees to post the good reviews through giving members discounts and employees bonuses. The proof is in three of my pictures, which are pictures of an expectation packet all of the employees had to read and abide by when I started working there on January 2nd 2026. Also, Jason had a Facebook post about suing him and his company removed after it gained a lot of attention. He also had the person who posted it removed from the "Cedar Rapids Area Support Local" group. I recently found myself ready to get back into working out again so my family and I became members of Custom Fitness. I had no idea how many great amenities the gym had to offer until we toured! Honestly I have been a member at a few other gyms in the area over the years but with my busy work schedule and everyday life my time was limited and I felt like I was paying SO MUCH and not able to utilize my membership. Custom Fitness has amazing prices, flexible hours and with the amenities onsite it's a win win for the entire family. I love cardio and weights, my 14 year old was encouraged to join and we are able to work out together now which we really enjoy! My husband and I work out together and he enjoys the pool, hot tub and steam room after a good work out and when his daughter is in town she can go as a guest :) My son and his wife also are members along with several of our friends. Great local atmosphere. Very reasonable pricing considering the amount of equipment you get access to and the ability to bring in anyone you want... for free. Employees clean consistently and maintain a hygienic facility. There's the occasional out of order machine, but those are swiftly dealt with. I've been to many gyms in the area, including the MAC, Core Fitness (when it was open), and Top Shape. None of them are as clean or fairly priced as Custom Fitness is. I was able to try out the entire facility free for five days with absolutely no commitment, by the third day I was signing up for a yearly! 10/10 gym, recommending it to all my friends! read more

Not really sure why there are bad reviews. I was a member for over 6 years and I truly miss going to this gym. I had no problems canceling my membership. I only had to cancel because my partner and I split up and he didn't want me to work out there anymore. There is a ton of variety of equipment. Sometimes they are making repairs or doing construction, but what do you expect? It's an older building and it's bound to have some issues. I have been a member of custom fitness for over a month and a half and I love working out here. There are new managers since January and it has been great since they have been here! Charles and sheena are always friendly and helpful when I come in and make me feel like I'm home. The club is always clean now and all machines are real clean. Don't really use the pool but I always see staff checking the pool and cleaning around it. Out of all the gyms in Cedar Rapids I will recommend them over any one else! read more

I joined the gym about a month ago! The staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the sign up process super simple! They offer amazing sign up incentives for new members:) The latest in well maintained equipment, always clean and inviting. Manager is too busy chasing tail to run a business. Has signs all over the place about no excessive weight slamming or grunting but someone could be doing it right in front of him and his staff and nothing is done! I finally got sick of it and sent an email and the manager offered to stop my membership but decided to retract because I wouldn't bow to his blackmail and not pull or agree to leave and negative reviews. As a competitive bodybuilder, I need a gym that provides a lot of equipment, flexible hours, and space! Custom Fitness has everything I need! I've been coming here for 2.5 years and during that time they've made tons of updates with the building and equipment. They recently went 24/7 which is super helpful with my busy schedule.
