The acidic and anaerobic nature of the peat bog was so effective at preserving these bodies that we even knew what the men had been eating. And even more interesting - the methods that had been used to MURDER them so long ago. Because these men had not just randomly fallen into the bog, oh no; there are all sorts of things to learn including why the nipples were cut off! But I will refrain from going in to more detail. If you are interested, and are in Dublin, you MUST go there yourself. It is free so you have no excuse not to. Well, unless you are not interested in things such as I described here. Whatever. Note: there is not a cafe in the museum, and no storage lockers for your bag. Also, I thought the gift shop was pretty boring as it had very few things that were relevant to the museum displays. Which is disappointing as the museum artifacts themselves are very local and specific to Ireland and are extremely interesting.

Mary was more…read morethan just a tour guide - she was a historian, a comedian, and my de-facto therapist when my flight was cancelled and I emailed her in a panic (for Mary's sake, please don't email her as many times as I did!!). When I made it just in the nick of time from the airport, Mary greeted me with a hug because she was so excited I made it. I learned so much not only about the ancient sites, but also everything we passed along our bus route. And of course, visiting Newgrange (with guaranteed entrance thanks to Mary's tour) was one of the absolute highlights of the trip to Dublin. Don't think twice -- BOOK WITH MARY!!

The small one is 500 years old and the white 300 years old. You can observe restorations here and there, but it looks very well preserved. They do not work any more but are open for visitation. You can either go see it by yourself but I took the tour and I really recommend it. It costs 4.80 for students and 6.60 for regular ticket. Kids go free. The tour takes about 1h and you learn a lot. You can even try the old machines a little bit - it was fun! The guide was very friendly and full of stories. In the visitors center they have a restaurant and craft shop. You have a half day off it is a good idea to explore the place.

The location is very pretty and you get to walk outside a few times as you there are several mills. The views of the area are very impressive. Afters we had some lunch in the café that is part of the mill. It definitely is a good family activity to do if you are looking for ideas and want to try something new.

I did not feel like that, I am talking to some gov staff, more like they want you to have a good experience ... it is next to Dublin City Hall, the place to go to find out all you need to know about Dublin. The friendly and knowledgeable travel advisors can give you ideas on all the amazing attractions to visit in this wonderful city. The guided tours are great as you learn a lot of the viking history, the tour guides are very friendly too. The tour guides walk you through the viking town of Dyflin, where you walk through very narrow streets, which make you feel like you are really living in viking times. We met up with our tour guide, Grace, outside of the Trinity College main gated entrance. Overall I enjoyed the tour we had. Grace was very knowledgeable and gave a lot of history of the sights we stopped at: first on the grounds of Trinity College, then through the nearby neighborhood, including Old Parliament and Temple Bar. She also took us to an area close to Temple Bar to discuss Viking settlements, which was neat! It was difficult to hear her for a good amount of the time due to the volume of traffic and the fact our group was on the larger side. I wish that the company might consider this and either make adjustments to group size, look into a portable voice amplifier, or simply have the guide speak in an "outdoor voice." Unfortunately I did not know the area and parked by timed metered parking, so we had to depart the tour early since my meter was expiring! (Oops.) I would recommend the tour, but suggest that you ensure you cozy right up to the tour guide so you don't miss out on any information!

On your visit, you will meet a Viking coin minter, a medieval cook, an archer or barber surgeon, depending on whose day off it is. Some else dressed in a doublet will show you around and give you the skinny on Dalkey's famous residents. After the tour is finished, you are free to climb to the battlements for panoramic views of surrounding sea and mountains, and a cathartic giggle. It's only about five minutes from the DART and it's a good option if you have restless children and a spare six quid.

John was very knowledgeable about the history of Ireland and told us many stories along our journey through Ireland. Not only was he very knowledgeable, but he was a hilarious story teller and we could tell he loves what he does. There is nothing better than having someone who is excited to share their love of history with people. He even took amazing photos of us whenever we wanted him to. If you are going on a tour, you HAVE to get John Todd! We had such a beautiful day at the Bunratty Castle. He made sure we were the first tour group at the castle so it was empty when we got there! We had plenty of time to explore, take photos, and learn about the history. Even better, it was a crystal clear day at the Cliffs of Moher! We got extremely lucky. It was truly a sight to see (you can't miss it if you come to Ireland). At the end of our tour, the trains were canceled due to problems on the railway. Our group was anxious about getting home, but John took care of us! He made sure we would be on a bus leaving at the same time as our schedule train to go back. It was an adventure through and through. John made sure we were safe getting home, walking my boyfriend and I to our Uber. Overall, he made our experience wonderful and fun. There is nothing first class about these tours. They are standard day trip coach tours from various…read morelocations, to which you arrive after an hour or two or more in ordinary seats in ordinary carriages in an ordinary train. DO NOT BE DECEIVED BY THE FIRST CLASS PLUS appendages, even though you are certainly paying first class prices. If you are British, leave aside any idea of using this company now. We were subjected to several days of biased historical interpretations of Ireland's history in which the English (all of them seemingly) were the monsters- to put it politely. It seems we were worse than than the Israelis against the Palestinians, and we were like that everywhere we went. Thank you tour guide Brian for this welcoming first day speel, delivered with venom even though you knew you had two English guests in your company's overpriced tour. On the extended tours you are bussed to hub locations where day-trippers join you for that particular day, and more or less the same speel comes out the newcomers, even though the venom was later reduced when confronted and there was a sort of apology at the end of day three. Particular attention was drawn to the need to have cash available for gratuities! The country is lovely. The vast majority of the people are lovely and welcoming. We did the 7 day tour Deluxe Plus. It wasn't. It was an expensive way of being mostly bussed around in standard tourist coaches. There was I hope no charge for the nationalistic insults by the tour guide.
