We received…read morea great deal of information about the Dunbrody, and the living conditions onboard the voyage to Savannah. The actors represented a first class passenger and steerage passenger with her baby, talking to us in the middle of steerage quarters. They were wonderful! After Adam and the actors, we toured the quarantine area and quarters for first class passengers. We also posed by the bell and steering wheel. The section after the tour was a revelation of Irish who immigrated to United States - Maureen O'Hara, Walt Disney, JFK's great grandfather, and so many others. The gift shop had reasonably priced souvenirs. We bought shirts, necklaces, chocolate and a polo shirt for under $74. Leaving the ship area, we admired the emigrant flame, lit from the eternal flame at JFKs' sure in DC.

I took the Rosslare and Cherbourg ferry to get to France and I must say, I like Celtic Link. Their…read morestaff is friendly and knowledgeable plus the ferry itself was very clean and modern. A few things to note though. First. the wifi on the ferry didn't really work. It was a fiver an hour and it cut off constantly and was basically unusable. Also, this ferry is smaller than some of the other ones you can get so if you hit rough seas you will feel it sure, but it didn't bother me that much. Another thing is the food, although very good, was very expensive. All meals were. €11.90 and on a 16 hour ferry you will need to eat. That being said they are much like the Ryanair of ferries. You get the basic transportation for very little, but if you opt for things like food and cabins you will pay dear for them. I still give them four stars because the service is brilliant, the staff is great, and they get you there fast, on time for half the price of some of the competitors.

Travel at lunchtime - and make sure you have your own driver so you can drink the free wine. Ok it may be a bit of a trek to get to the 'smoking' zone - which is out side but if the weather is good you can enjoy the fresh air while filing your lungs with smoke! I call that a happy medium! Will I use them again? - for sure when I head back home to Dublin.

The booking offices of the various ferry companies of course are here, but it is very small and not much else. Also, no wifi so you will have to bring your own or find another way to entertain yourself. The staff are friendly and helpful, and for the most part the place is clean, although it looks very dated. My advice, plan accordingly so you don't end up having to spend more time here than you need as there is not much to do and even less to buy if you find yourself wanting more than a packet of crisps.

My husband and I had a travel agent book us this amazing place in 2015. I fell in love with it so much I came back with my best friend in 2017. It's a very reasonably priced place for everything you endure here. It's a restored little castle that you are encouraged to explore during your stay. It's located on a farm that you are welcome to collect eggs, milk cows and pet the animals (optional). The inside of this place is something out of a Victorian dream or something you see in a movie. Very exquisite interior, sparkly clean, spacious rooms, cozy and comfortable. Water is provided in your rooms, outside food or drink is not accepted (understandably). It's a completely divine experience you will never forget. The hosts are wonderful and deliver such heartfelt hospitality. In the mornings they go above and beyond for a breakfast, milk and cheese made on their farm. They have a lovely menu you are sure to want more. The first time I stayed here, my husband and I were the only ones on the entire facility. The staff had a huge presentation of a delicious breakfast buffet, I was blown away. I had the exact same experience the second time with two other families and it was lovely. I truly can't express enough how much I love this place, I would move here and work here in a heartbeat. I want so much for everyone to enjoy what I can only dream of. I've traveled a handful of countries and many places in the US, I have never had a move gorgeous memory. They did it for us for 10 euro. What a deal, clean and folded ready to go. There were homemade chocolate chip cookies that evening. Now let's talk breakfast. This little quaint pub is a throw back to the time of my parents and possibly even my grandparents. They have all manner of things from wellies to light bulbs on sale behind the counter. The floor space is small but great to chat w the locals. The bar man is friendly and full of banter. This is truly a traditional Irish pub in every sense-the old counter, the polished brass, the stuff for sale-it feels like a step back in time. Totally worth a trip for locals and guests alike! Beware though, not sure if there is a local taxi so plan to have a designated driver!

He went so far as to provide us with a ride to town when we wanted to go out to eat for dinner. My husband is on a strict diet due to allergies, and Des was able to provide us with gluten-free toast for breakfast, which was fantastic. The room itself had a wonderful view and was so cute and homey. The whole house is decorated very nicely and has dried flowers all over. This is a very historical home with an abandoned castle on its grounds, which you can explore at your leisure. In the sitting room was a book about the history of the castle and how it came to its current state. It was very interesting and Des was able to provide some additional insight on this matter as well as other local history. Smooth peaceful journey, lovely staff and facilities for ppl using seats as opposed to cabins significantly nicer than with brit ferries: rooms are for 20ppl max. With pillows and blanket supplied, though seats are still useless to sleep in ! Food wise, most places in there are too expensive and poor in quality but with 2 lounges and a bar, and plenty of kid and family entertainment, its a fab way to travel for families, and such a great alternative to stressfull airport experiemce as there are barely any checks on each side of the border!

Pretty horrific experience. We took the ferry from Cherbourg, France to Rosslare with our dog and…read morewe'll absolutely never do it again. Because of the new law regarding pet transport, we took the ferry out of necessity and not for a holiday. One out of every 10 staff members are nice, the rest are blatantly rude and clearly tortured by their job and the idea of customer service. The ferry was late departing, and 3 hours late arriving, which meant we missed our connecting train to Dublin. The staff on board basically said "we're not responsible" and gave us a number for the office in the harbor. Thankfully the staff in the harbor were very helpful and made some calls on our behalf to help us get on the next train with our same tickets. We were very grateful for their help and just wished the staff on board the actual ship had the same standards of customer service. If you choose the reserved seats be prepared to hold on to your belongings while you sleep or pay 5+ euros for a locker. If you choose a locker be aware that you will have to pay the fee again, in full, any time you need to get into it, so it adds up quickly if you forget something you need. The seats don't recline more than an airline seat so you won't actually be getting any sleep, but you get what you pay for. If you plan on bringing your dog on the overnight ferry, you're in for a very uncomfortable and somewhat scarring experience. You will only be able to visit your dog during 3 designated times during the crossing, and you'll be lucky to get 15 minutes during each visit. If the kennels are full, be prepared to wait up to an extra hour while groups of 6 or 7 are escorted at a time. When you do get your chance, you will be rushed by a bored and annoyed member of the staff. I imagined being able to walk our dog on the deck during this time, to stretch his legs and have him do his business (considering the 18+ hour journey), but what you'll get is a very, very narrow path between lines of cars on the car deck, and a 2 foot patch of sawdust that no dog knows what to do with. You're told not to walk between the cars but the alternative is walking back and forth on a 20 foot stretch (two feet wide) with half a dozen other dogs and their owners which is literally impossible. Most dogs in the kennel are upset and barking constantly which makes it very stressful for calmer dogs, who will then not eat or even use the bathroom during the whole journey, like ours. Clearly they converted a tiny broom closet to pack full of kennels to get some extra cash, without making any other accommodations to actually cater to dogs on such a long journey. We would not put our dog through that again. If you're a foot passenger you'll be the last one on, and the last one off. You'll have to wait while everyone else exits the ship and collects their dog. Everyone is forced to take several flights of stairs during disembarking because they try to control the crazy flow of people by closing off the elevators. This meant lots of Seniors and families with babies had to go down the stairs with heavy luggage, a scary and unsafe system. Very disappointed overall and would not use this service again, with or without a dog.
