For example, if a window of a house is broken, and is just left broken rather than fixed in short order, then soon more windows will get broken and unfixed which in turn encourages vandalism which in turn invites other crimes until before you know it your world has decended into postapocalyptic chaos that only a 1980's era Kurt Russel can save you from. Me, I had the car version of that. So I was feeling very Mad Max. Literally every vehicle in my life had developed a cracked windshield. I figured it was only a matter of time before my family and friends were slaughtered by a biker gang (for you readers over 35), or I was captured and turned into a human blood bag for a psychopath (for the more contemporary readers). Plus I was just feeling pretty ghetto about it. Time to get proactive. I did what everybody does first and called Safelite, as they seem to have bought the entire internet for their marketing so they're impossible to miss. The lady on the phone was very nice, but I was disappointed to find out that she was in Houston (or Dallas or some other far off place). I know they have a local facility, so why can't I just call THAT building? Suddenly the potential for corporate levels of bureaucratic b.s. and red tape, should I have a problem with their work, seemed very real. Next call was to Southwest Auto Glass, where I spoke to Fred at the local shop. His price quote was pretty much identical to Safelite's, but Southwest is closer, and locally owned, so I chose them. Over the course of the next 5 months I came to know Fred and the guys at SW rather well, as I brought them vehicle after vehicle- personal car, personal truck, work truck, and dad's truck. I can't speak for their mobile service, as I never used it, but they do offer it. In house though, I can tell you they are the definition of courteous, competent, and consistent. Total cost per windshield (with tax) varied from $130-$210, depending on the vehicle; that's as good or better than I could find from anyone else. They are compelled to price-match, so if you get a lower quote from someone else, just let Fred know and he'll work with you. And of course if you have full-coverage insurance you can probably get it done for free. Thanks to Fred and the guys at Southwest, the road I see through my windshield(s) now is bright and clear and apocalypse-free. Except during Friday afternoon rush hour. Hell on earth.

I spoke directly with the manager, and instead of taking responsibility for the damage caused by their technician, he refused to take accountability. I was then told by Frank that he would inform the manager and that I would receive a call back, but that never happened. It feels like they are avoiding responsibility and hoping the issue just goes away. Mistakes can happen, but how a business handles them matters. In this case, the lack of accountability and follow-up was very disappointing. Beware of taking your vehicle to this location. If something gets damaged, don't expect them to stand behind their work.
