The weBoost that the Audio Express clowns REFUSED TO INSTALL which was installed by actual professionals elsewhere

These guys are a waste of time and money, avoid! They quoted me for an install of a stereo, weBoost and dashcam. I had to wait till Tuesday for the install because they aren't open mondays, that was an issue because I came to El Paso to get my new car customizations done and wanted to be done and gone by Saturday. Anyway, I show up bright and early Tuesday AM, and they tell me that they will not install the weBoost! WILL. NOT. INSTALL. This is an item I had already installed myself on another vehicle (not wired in) and then had wired in professionally with another audio shop. No explanation other than "the tech said we cant do it". JUST WOW! The good news is, I drive over to Dyer and took my car to a shop that I talked it no problem, and their installation guy was very familiar with weBoost and had installed several in the past -- oh and they installed everything in just under 5 hours and LESS THAN HALF THE COST these useless clowns quoted. So don't waste your time or money here and go literally anywhere else

This is how they left it

Let me count the ways...this will be a combined review of two visits months apart, same vehicle, different things being installed. 1st Visit -I brought EVERYTHING in that I wanted to have installed, 5 Channel AMP, crossovers, equalizer, subs, amp kit, etc. I told them how much space I wanted the custom box they were going to build it to take up in my trunk. The vehicle had been ready for several days, but because I was out of town I couldn't pick it up and then when I did go to pick it up the box in the trunk was about twice the size I wanted it to be, I can fit a large suitcase laying on its side and a backpack and they had forgotten to hook up a connection so the vehicle wouldn't go into drive, now this is after they have had it sitting there for days and I had to come back the next day when they fixed it. Then if I turn the audio up about 1/2 way it cuts out. This isn't cheap aftermarket equipment either. They left tools and trash in the vehicle as well. 2nd Visit My left front door speaker went out so I swung by and dropped it off. They charge you $54 right off the bat before even touching it, $40 for 30 min worth of troubleshooting and almost $10 for "shop supplies" and then there is tax. How the heck are you charging me shop supplies and you haven't provided any supplies? They called me up and said the crossovers for the components on both speakers were bad, so I told them to go ahead and replace the fronts with some components. They called me and said my vehicle was ready about 90 minutes after I dropped it off and the cost $240 on top of the $54 I already paid. So $300 to replace a set of speakers. Fine, I came the next day because after all I have to coordinate a ride to pick me up and so they pull the vehicle around and as soon as I open the door I am pissed. There is trash on the floor board (wire/clips) my old components just sitting in the passenger floor, my seats are reclined all the way back, my driver seat is moved all the way back and steering wheel all the way up and when they took off my cell phone charger/mount they pulled out the cigarette lighter piece and didn't bother putting it back in place. Now, why would I be upset that my steering wheel was all the way up and my seat all the way back? Because, they wouldn't move forward, there was no power to my mirrors, seats, dome lights, etc. So I have to get back to work and my ride that dropped me off is long gone. There was no manager, hardly an apology, and when I said I can be back at 4:30 PM (they close at 5 on Sundays) I was told the techs leave at 4:00 come back tomorrow...WTH! After work I did some research on what it could be, drove to Auto Zone bought some new fuses and pulled the fuse people said it probably was, and sure enough it was blown. Which means they didn't do the first rule of working on car audio...UNHOOK THE BATTERY SO YOU DON'T BLOW ANYTHING! Tons of money spent, rushed work, terrible customer service. NO NO NO

JVC 2 Din head unit installed in a 2006 Hyundai Santa Fe

Audio Express: went to the Lee Trevino location. Needed a new speaker for my passenger side door. It's blown. Also needed a new head unit... The original head unit in my car has a tape deck still... Yea.. A tape deck. Short but sweet. I was able to get 2 kenwoods 6.5" door speakers, and a 2 din LVC head unit with pandora radio, Bluetooth, USB, all installed, plus 1 year warranty for speakers and radio (yes if you blow the speakers they'll replace them) for $430. Once dropping my car off, they told me 1.5 hrs. Can't remember how long it took, but there's a chilis in the parking lot. I walked over, ate, came back in, went into waiting area and watched 1 episode of Seinfeld and then, done. Just like that. Stereo works great. Fits great, no issues. Speakers are very clear and of good sound quality. Only thing left now is to go back and get a subwoofer (just 1 10") to compete the sound. The kenwoods 6.5 inches and my tweeters deliver very clear and quality highs and mids, just need one sub to round out the sound spectrum. Overall I've had one experience with these gentleman, a employee named Ralph, and I've been pleased with both the product and pricing. I will be returning. Hopefully another good deal. Also, 10% military discount. #DasItMayne

A 1/2 hour install took 2 1/2 hours. He cut and spliced, cut and spliced & cut and spliced. He clearly did not know what he was doing, and was learning on my boat. That being said, they finally got the stereo working. I could not test it there because boats have to be in the water to test the ignition. I get to the lake, and the boat would not start. Thinking it is a bad battery, I take it to a mechanic in a nearby town. After having the battery checked, the mechanic said that the battery was good and that the issue was caused by what he said looked like a bad install. He said the ground was insufficient and that the ignition wire was connected to the constant wire; which ultimately caused a fuse to pop. I now must take the boat back on Monday to have the install redone. Unfortunately, my fishing trip was ruined by their unprofessional installation. I would also like to add that the manager was not friendly. When I mentioned that maybe someone else should do the install, he ignored my request even though the installer had told him he was struggling. He told the installer to figure it out, and provided no assistance.

If you're a DIY'er this is a great place to purchase gear, but I can't recommend their installers!…read more I've been into car audio my entire adult life (30+ years). Sense back in the day when these "top of the line" brands were "Made in the USA". I spent more time at "Car-Tunes" "Sound Quest" and "Music Systems" than I spent in school. Anyway... I know a little bit about car audio. Because of my passion for car audio, I wanted to love these guys, but I just can't.... They're nice guys, carry some decent brands, have reasonable prices, and talk a good game; but at the end of the day, they under perform and under deliver where it counts... installs. First, I purchased what was supposed to be a "high end" window tint job (their most expensive ceramic film). It was the most expensive and worst window tint job I've ever had. There were several details that went unnoticed (or ignored) by the installer; defects in the film, debris between the film and glass, bubbles, etc..., and they made a mess of my car, which had just been detailed. They kept the car for two days, and when I picked it up I couldn't even properly examine the windows because they were filthy, inside and out. The manager has promised to make it right, "when he gets a new window tinter". Apparently, he did my car on his last days of work here, which is probably why he did such shitty work. We'll see what happens. Despite everything, I decided to give them more business, this time car audio, and had them install a set of component speakers. Again they kept my car for 2 days, and to top it off, as I drove home, I notices an "engine whine" noise coming from the speakers. I didn't have this "whine" before they installed the speakers, and the speakers are not connected to an amp, they are straight off an Alpine HU. I understand car audio can be complex, and there are a lot of variables that can induce noise. It could be a loose ground on the HU, could be how/where they placed the cross-over... whatever! The point is, it didn't have this problem before they changed the speakers. They had the car for two days to install one set of component speakers, you'd think they would have tested for these issues, and corrected them. Remember, this is all these guys do, they don't sell refrigerators, home theaters, or smartphones here. They do nothing but car audio/video/security, and window tint. They're supposed to be experts! Now I'm out $100+ I paid for the install and I'll still be ripping my car apart myself to troubleshoot and fix this issue (cuz it'll drive me nuts!). I won't be taking it back to them as they don't pay attention to the details of their work, and I don't want to be without my car for another 2 days. Although I will be returning for them to make good on the botched tint job (I can't do that myself).

BUYER BEWARE OF Texas Boombox - DISHONEST PRICING & POOR WORKMANSHIP…read more **Extremely Disappointing Experience - Stay Away from Texas Boombox!** I had an incredibly frustrating experience with Texas Boombox, and I feel compelled to share it to warn others. I was initially quoted **$180** by Charlie to replace my car stereo and install new speakers and an amplifier. I made it clear from the start that my car already had an aftermarket system (subwoofers, headrest TV monitors, amp, and epicenter), so there should have been no surprises. When I arrived at 11 a.m., Charlie greeted me and assured me that they would call once the job was done. However, things quickly took a strange turn when another employee, Saul, aggressively questioned the price and demanded to know who authorized the install. Charlie awkwardly replied that **he (Saul) had authorized** it, and insisted the original quote should be honored. Saul stormed off, visibly upset, and Charlie apologized for the awkwardness, telling me to go home and wait for a call. At **3 p.m.**, I received a call asking for approval to install a **$15 speaker bracket**, which I approved, thinking this would be the only price change. But then, at **5:30 p.m.**, Saul called in a rude tone, telling me my car was "almost ready" and that I needed to hurry because the shop was about to close. When I arrived (at about 5:50 p.m.), I saw they were still working on my car, but the real shock came when I went to pay. The final bill was a staggering **$531** more than double the original quote! Saul dismissed my objections, claiming the original price was too low and refusing to honor it. He then presented me with a different invoice than the one I had been given and charged me for unnecessary items I never approved, including a bypass, new cables, and **10 hours of labor** (even though the shop is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. -- you do the math). To top it off, there was also an "extra charge" for an "oversized" radio, which had never been mentioned. I asked WHY I hadn't been called to approve these additional charges, and Saul rudely insisted they were "necessary" and that I had to pay immediately because they were closing. When I requested to see my car before paying, he refused to hand me the keys. After some back and forth, he finally relented, and what I saw was infuriating: - **Cracked panels** - My center clock dash panel and master window switch panel were damaged. - **Non-functional features** - The phone function on the new stereo didn't work, the **reverse camera and headrest monitors** were no longer working, and they left the microphone harness on the floor instead of installing it. - **A filthy interior** - My car was returned to me a mess. Charlie, the person who originally quoted me, was nowhere to be found, and Saul simply dismissed my concerns, claiming that all the employees had gone home. I was left with a **damaged car**, missing functionality, and a **ridiculous bill** for work I didn't approve. I left the shop with the understanding that I would get a call from the owner to try and resolve the issue. The only call I received was from Charlie the next day. He was very embarrassed and apologized profusely when I told him about the damage and non-functioning features and sent him pictures. However, it has now been almost a week, and I'm still waiting for a call from the owner or anyone at the shop to address the situation. Texas Boombox is DISHONEST, UNPROFESSIONAL, and COMPLETELY UNETHICAL. If you value your time, money, and car, STAY FAR AWAY!

Dudes do a crazy good job. I'm very impressed. I'm a dude that likes to have his car very clean at all times, but never have the time or freakin quarters to do it myself. I drop my car off here usually around lunch and always it's ready to pick up by COB. The price I've been charged both times was $50. But the quality of work that was done, it's well worth it. Outside was hand washed and hand dried. Tires shined like they were still wet. Windows; not a smudge on them. Interior was thoroughly vacuumed and dusted. Then lightly armor-all'd. You know, enough so that it looked clean and shiny, but not so much that I'm wearing the armor all for a week lol. Their inventory looks huge as far as wheels and car stereo equipment goes... But I'm not in that market.. I already got a aftermarket head unit, Bluetooth phone thing, all speakers (stock) replaced with aftermarket kenwood, sub/amp in the back... So I'm good...
