We visited for a birthday dinner. Booked ahead but still got a table and chairs rather than the nicer booths. Cocktails were underwhelming; served in smallish martini glasses, mine over sweet, flat and not properly chilled - despite the $17 price tag. Our server was lovely, but food was luke warm, and the seafood fritters ($22) mainly pancake batter with little texture indicating actual seafood in them. Bread and Entrees were superb, however, with interesting veg selections, protein cooked perfectly and all very well seasoned. The occasion we were celebrating was not acknowledged, despite our server confirming this when we sat down - perhaps because we didn't order dessert? Our bill was almost $400 for 4 people. We had to make reservations to ensure we got seating. Place was 90% full Saturday 6pm. Very nice atmosphere. Staff were very professional. Food was a disappointment. My filet mignon was really dry and chewy. Friend who got the tbone also said his was barely edible -way overcooked and very thin cut. Friend who got New York Striploin was happy but he also got the peppercorn sauce which was Not spicy Not peppery just mushroom sauce/gravy BUT it was very tasty and would highly recommend it. read more

The first thing I will say is that the staff were excellent. From the pre-dinner drinks on the patio to the inside main meal, the servers were all pleasant, genuine and complimented the experience. As a group of four, we shared a selection of appetizers; crab meat stuffed mushroom caps, goat cheese asparagus and scallops. Very good. For a main I ordered a medium rare 12oz rib eye with a baked potato and peppercorn sauce. Very good and cooked perfectly. 3 of us had a lovely evening here with Ryan as our wonderful, attentive server. We shared the chili shrimp appetizer and were wowed with this amazing breaded shrimp dish with a delightfully spicy sauce - yum. Our sirloin steaks were cooked to perfection and the Oscar sirloin is highly recommended - great Bernaise sauce! We did find the carrots a bit too al dente though. The third meal was the short rib - unfortunately this wasn't a big hit as it felt more like a pulled pork dish. The sauce wasn't what was expected for a short rib sauce - more like bbq sauce and not a gravy. Despite this, we had a great meal and excellent service. As one of us was having a birthday, we were given one free dessert (we shared) and the creme brulee was divine. Definitely recommend and will be back! read more

Wonderful atmosphere, staff was attentive but not hovering, food had a great flavours, but I'd expect an upscale steakhouse to be able to cook a rare steak. My rare steak was past medium-rare and on its way to medium. Only reason I can't give the place 5 stars. Everyone else had a wonderfully prepared steak, and I can not fault in any way the presentation or the flavours. read more

Had the opportunity to eat here (even though it's way out of my paygrade) because there was a sponsored academic seminar happening and my friends were very eager to attend and enjoy some high-quality steak. Boy did they enjoy that. As someone who doesn't really eat steak, I got the herb roasted chicken off of the fixed menu, with mashed potatoes. The chicken was cooked well, but perhaps a little over done. It was coated in a creamy herb sauce that was quite nice. The mashed potatoes were served in a truly interesting manner - an upside-down ice cream cone "swirl". Now I am someone who typically loathes mashed potatoes but I decided to give them a chance this one time because they were flavoured with horseradish. Needless to say, I will not be going near them again. I just cannot bring myself to like the texture and the horseradish flavour was barely there. The night featured a booboo on the part of the restaurant as they informed us they told us the wrong dessert option - strawberry caramel cheesecake instead of chocolate peanut crunch, which I was quite looking forward to. The food was alright and the service was quite quick. That being said, I don't know if the place's prices live up to its above-average ambience and the lackluster presentation of its dishes. read more

Got in right away, even without a reservation. Food took a little bit of time to get to us, which was weird because we could see the cooks standing around. The actual food was alright, but really didn't 'wow' us by any means. Didn't like that they didn't have any cocktails either, just a wine list. However, we did go to 'half cut', the lounge downstairs after for a drink, which was much better! Good drink menu, same food menu as well as pub food. It was much better down there! read more

Went there the other evening for dinner. As we are in Saskatoon in business. My partner has diet restrictions we thought would be a challenge. Quite they went out of their way to accommodate his needs. The service was awesome as was the food ambiance Prices are on par with our business of this type. Classy ambiance with great food, remarkable wine, amazing staff. Went in for a business dinner with a group of 4, were sat on a location that felt private enough for serious conversations without much noise around although the nearby table wasn't far off. Food was excellent, and the choices were amazing. The waiter was awesome from the point he started waiting for us, worked diligently to find out a wine that we wanted. Finally the location is great, in the middle of the town. Certainly worth the visit! read more

My fiancé and I had a really disappointing experience at Half-Cut (the lounge/bar downstairs). We asked to be seated at the bar upon our arrival and were told that we'd be "too cold" there, and were led elsewhere. Really?? We were seated by a large group of rowdy ~19 year olds who appeared to have never eaten in a restaurant before: yelling, swearing, spilling drinks. I get that they are young and that we were in a bar-type setting but what about our middle-aged appearance screamed "seat us by the rude teenagers so we can't hear ourselves think or have a conversation"??! The food was good which was the only consolation; we had to settle for looking at one another and having our conversations later - we could not speak without having to yell. Not my idea of a great weekend meal out. On our way out, we walked by the bar and noted that the decibel level there was significantly different and we could have actually talked to each other there. I also don't think it would have been "too cold" as the door is a good 20 feet away. Note to Half Cut staff: when the customer asks for something, please be open to their request. If it was impossible for whatever reason for us to sit at the bar for whatever reason, just say what it is - don't condescend to us by telling us we'll be "cold". read more

Ate here this past Sunday 8/21/16 and got the pork chop. Wow, wow, wow. I've always been a pork fan but this was probably the best pork chop I've ever had. I wish I could remember our waitress's name as she was top notch. There wasn't a speck left on my plate by the time I finished. So, so delicious. I would highly recommend this place. read more

Took the family for a celebration supper. Completely disappointed, my steak was tough and tasteless. My wife's prime rib was cold and the kids fries were way too salty. I've been there before and would normally have given it 5 stars but not from our last experience. The sirloin they delivered was bested by a $13 steak sandwich from a lunch menu. I could go into great detail but it's not worth my time. I may give them another shot in a few months, hoping that they've switched back to there previous top quality beef. read more

Place had nice ambience to it. The food was good. I had the NY sirloin which was a bit over cooked (I ordered medium well got well done) I also had a wine sauce with it and they said it was on it but I couldn't taste or see it. The baked potato was good and the asparagus and veggies were cooked right on. The waitress was friendly. I would go back. Had my first lunch here and was pleasantly surprised with their lunch options, fast/polite service, and good prices. I'm a difficult customer since i have deathly seafood allergy and don't really like trying new places since i have to explain i can't eat things cooked in same oil etc. Here tho was different i ordered the prime rib sandwich and fries which is rare treat since alot of restaurants cook everything in same fryer. They prepared my meal fast and was delicious and by writing this review didn't come in contact with seafood since ide be dead lol. By far the best prime rib sandwich ive had so far and our waitress was awesome (Martine). Definitely going to be a repeat customer to their basement area. read more

The place looks great and had a very nice atmosphere, went for lunch service with a friend. The waiter did his job really well and was awesome to deal with and talk to. My friend and I both ordered the steak (because duh it's steak) I ordered rare and my friend medium rare both with shrimp (garlic and blackened). Food took awhile to come for some reason... As we were the only people there at the time, but not a big deal. The shrimp was really good but you definitely pay for it.. My steak was a medium and my friends probably medium well, I like steak so I ate it and the taste was good but not what either of us had ordered in terms of cook time and it was an OK steak and I don't like to be wasteful just because it was overcooked from what I asked for it was still "good" From what I could tell it was a good place and I want to come back for dinner service but at $30 for a steak it should be to order everytime. read more

Terribly disappointed. Appetizers was small and tasteless. Caprese salad was awful. Tomatoes tasted like they were frozen,mozzarella was tasteless. Striploin was ok but sides was disgusting. Broccoli and cauliflower was raw. Potatoes taste like they were from a box. read more

Great food. Service was way too fast and we would have liked a much more leisurely meal. The waiter was nice, but the drinks and food were pushed out way too fast. There was no break between courses at all. Both the appetizer and salad came out together. It was too much food to consume in the time given. Excellent scallops, beautifully cooked and seasoned with nice mash compliment, caesar salad amazing, but a very big portion, filet was perfectly cooked and seasoned, baked potato was awesome and chive sour cream was a very nice compliment and veggies were perfectly cooked. Good steak sandwich; the ketchup for fries is BBQ sauce mixed with ketchup. I was not a fan of that! Lunchtime service was extremely slow... We ate in the bar downstairs; the whole experience took 1.5 hours. Not a quick lunch. Tl,dr: food was good, service was very slow. read more

Visited Saskatoon during the Jazz Fest in June 2015. Enjoyed the CUT patio for drinks and appetizers one evening and went back to their lounge the next evening because we enjoyed it so much! Really nice place (the bathrooms were quite beautiful, too!) with great, friendly wait staff who took their time with us even though very busy. Food was top rate and their wine pairing suggestions was spot on. If you can't do dinner, the appetizers are worth the stop, though the steaks are really, really good. read more
