Reservation for three thru OpenTable,7:15.Hostess was curt but polite.Wait staff at our semi private table outstanding,Hotel parking was sub par,very far away,but Hotel made me welcome allowing me to park in the drive lane since I'm disabled.Very cool. Waiter brought our wine and water prompt,very nice guy.Zero rush appetizers were crab cakes,and oysters,ohhh so good.Main courses steak Oscar my wife's,done perfect,Danny's strip New York perfect.I had the Lamb chops and they were stellar.Wasnt a fan of the reduction on them,but too garlic in strength,would have rather tasted more terragon,mint.7 out of 10 but still quite good.No room for dessert,just as well menu was generic for a five star restaurant,would love to see Cherries Jubilee or Baked Alaska back on the upscale menus again.Still Carvers is well with a stop for finer dining. read more

Two of us came in for a special occasion celebration and decided to go a little more upmarket. We started by sharing the crab cakes. They were just excellent in taste and quality. A perfect size to share. Next we had a Broccoli Soup and a Carver's Wedge Salad. Both were thoroughly enjoyed as they were just delicious. For the main we had a Filet Mignon and a Ribeye Steak, both medium rare. We added Green Peppercorn Sauce, Brussel Sprouts, and sauteed Mushrooms. The steaks were cooked perfectly. We packed up half the steaks to save room for dessert. For that we shared a Carver's Beignets. Came with three sauces and were just amazingly good. Both went down with a bottle of Bread and Butter Cabinet Sauvignon. Just had a wonderful experience here. Well done chef. read more

If you want to charge top dollar, Carvers, you really need to provide a product worthy of that. The drinks were nice and service fine. We had the halibut, which is served on a very nice parmesan-quinoa cake, but had a cold, gluey, under-seasoned pea puree on the plate. It was also layered with mushy, tasteless chick peas and black beans that seemed to serve no purpose. I don't know who's running the kitchen, but they're missing the details. The fish was pan fried to the point that the outside was tough, but it was cooked inside and nicely seasoned. Overall the dish ate dry, and when I asked for some bernaise to help it, we were charged $4.00 for literally two tablespoons of sauce. Details like this tend to reveal the establishment's attitude towards their customers - whether they are aiming to please, or serving them as ATMs... The steaks were cooked well, however, and the beignets were outstanding - the sauce for them literally drinkable. We noted that we had a birthday at the table, however, but were not provided a dessert or other acknowledgement. Overall the food was ok, but a $400 bill demands better than that. read more

Another great meal here. I use to come every January for a trade show and we ate all three nights at Carver's because of the impeccable service and quality of food. 5 years later and Carver's still lives up to the billing. Great service and the meal was exceptional. Escargot was nicely done in a homemade pasty shell and in a cream sauce. Excellent!! My prime rib special(only Sundays and Mondays) was cooked perfectly and delicious. Highly recommend Carver's if you are in Saskatoon for an amazing meal and superior service. read more

Amazing food, perfectly cooked Filet Mignon and Ribeye, except the medium-rare could be slightly rarer, the whipped potatoes were slightly dry. We also had French Onion Soup and a shrimp dish perfectly done. Not impressed with our waitress, she did not pull our chairs out first of all, which is standard service when at Carver's Steakhouse. While she was extremely attentive to other tables, she took a very long time to check on us. She came around maybe four times the entire time we were there, about 2 hours, and was very quick to leave. After we got the bill, she took a very long time to bring us the machine and we had to ask the hostess passing by for it. Hard to believe this is a "hotel restaurant". We had planned to head "off property" but decided we were too tired to go out, so we figured we'd try to eat in the hotel. The entrance was a bit odd - closed door with hostess outside the door, you don't go in until they take you in go seat you, and we were a little concerned.... Then we waked in and felt like we had stepped back in time to an old mobster steakhouse! First off, service was IMPECCABLE! Our every request and every need was tended to. Wine list was amazing, top shelf liquor assortment was great and the food was AMAZING! Our party had steak, chicken & seabass - all cooked to perfection! The sides (truffle mac & cheese, roasted Brussels sprouts) were amazing! I cannot find anything negative to say about this restaurant! Will definitely be back to this little gem in Saskatoon! read more

I booked reservations for a business dinner with 8 people - excellent response on the phone, and so I thought we were off to a good start. The evening started going south when wines listed on the wine list weren't available and the manager/sommolier gave us a long rant on the government liquor control rules. The recommended wine was very good, and appetizers came promptly and were delicious. The biggest issue was the 55 minute wait for our meal with no information - despite two inquiries. In general service was elegant and attentive. The room itself is best designed for small intimate tables for two. While a somewhat detached area was available that could have accomdated our group, this wasn't used. Instead we were seated in the main room which made business discussion uncomfortable. Overall - definitely not worth the price of the meal. read more

Business supper last night. Liked the new renos and look. My guest had to send his steak back twice (blue rare both times) as he wanted medium-medium well. Service was Abit slow in getting drinks as it seemed only one waiter but 4 or 5 others milling around. Just doesn't seem to the Carvers of old. Not as polished as previously, spent too much time talking about their issues rather than making it right. The menu is expanded but seems the steak area got reduced in selection. My favorite bone in choices are gone. Took their recommended dry aged bone in strip - it was so so more dry than anything. Bring back the bone in rib eyes! I give them credit for comping my guests meal, after all it took 2.5 hours to eat so I guess they should have done something. PS get a wireless payment system - taking a clients credit card into the back is bad. read more

It was busy on a Tuesday. I had an excellent 1/4 wedge salad, steak was very good cooked Med Rare, mixed vegetables was cooked perfect, baked potato was warm would not melt my butter and too long a wait for our main meal. read more

Business dinner here with colleagues last night. Service was excellent and very professional. Food was substantial and brilliantly cooked. Their wine list is primarily vintage, and went for a 1997 Amarone which was perfect with my lamb and thoroughly appreciated by the other participants. Definitely a place for special occasions or important business discussions. Another you only get what you pay for ranking from my perspective. read more

I had the distinct pleasure of dining here a few years ago on New Year's Eve & let me tell you what an experience it was. This is a super high end restaurant, definitely wanna dress in your Sunday best for this one. The steaks are AMAZING & the service was incredible .. Outstanding meal. Started with the Carvers Salad, made of all local ingredients. I followed that with the Wild Boar Tenderloin, a must try. It is easy to default to a high quality steak, but if the menus you see don't have this entree give a try. Service was exceptional, fun and friendly! read more

Recently went there with a large group. Food was ok . Manager promised full menu and when we arrived we could only order off a restricted menu. Twenty people who will never go back there again. Plenty of better places to eat in Saskatoon . read more

We had a nice, quiet dinner for two while on vacation. The Filet melts in your mouth and the wine list is superb. We arrived at our hotel late at night, (close to closing time) but they kindly accommodated us despite our poor timing. I highly recommend a visit to Carvers. read more

Being frequent diners in Carver's before the renovations, we were excited to see how things were after. The room itself is very sexy - deep red colors, terrific music and lighting. I started off with the Carver's salad and my husband had the prawns. The salad was delicious - loved the dressing! The prawns were very large and my husband quite enjoyed them. Being a fan of the small filet in the past, I wanted to try it again and was not disappointed. It was cooked exactly as ordered, was tender and seasoned very well. My husband had the 12 oz ribeye, which was a generous cut even for him! It had a little less marbling than the typical ribeye, but nevertheless, his steak was very good and was cooked and seasoned to perfection. The glazed root vegetable side was a perfect accompaniment for our meal. Unfortunately, we were too full for dessert, but next time, I will definitely save room for the sticky toffee pudding as I've heard it compared to that served in Gordon Ramsay's Cut in Las Vegas.
