The owner cuts me off mid sentence, starts raising his voice went from tenor to soprano real quick because I asked why the extra charge. Proceeds to say we did the job and that's that. Maybe he was just having a bad day but not cool. If he let me finish my question was going to be if he pays the 40 bucks and its a different problem would they apply it towards whatever else might have been needed since he knows nothing about cars and should have probably asked for a diagnostic from the start. I've literally…read morespent 20k just in moving costs -- mostly due to restrictions from court orders after abuse and domestic violence. Often, I have just used whomever popped up as available on the u-haul website - often the same providers. About a month ago we found Porter Services and, unlike the others, Curtis had business cards and suggested we book with him directly. He seemed like a budding entrepreneur so we reached out to them for two additional times. Initially, all went well. On our fourth booking (11/24/25), they did not show up and there was no communication from them that night despite reaching out - we waited for several hours as we were genuinely concerned about Curtis and his crew. If this was someone new, we would have looked elsewhere, but because of the past experiences with them, we assumed there had been an accident or something serious. The next morning, Curtis told us there had been a death in the family the evening prior but they were ready to work that day. By that time, we were in the midst of returning the truck. However, I took them at their word and we scheduled to meet up again 6 days later - the 30th. Leading up to the date, I spoke to Curtis many times. For example, he told me he had job that morning. Great. Sometimes getting back to work helps with grief. Then, a few hours before we were to meet, he informed us there had been a new (second) death in his family the night before and was at that funeral right then - they still wanted to come out though, just later that day. Okay - I said... we will wait, so let me know what time. Hours past and I checked in only to be told that they weren't coming but wanted to do the job the next day. As a result of these two no-shows we incurred over $1k in expenses. We paid for trucks that didn't go used... and on the 30th we contracted to rent two large storage units - again, going unused now. Plus, we didn't live in either area so both times we traveled several hours ourselves only to wait out in the cold for hours. I understand emergencies happen - that's life, but they needed to communicate changes in schedule in advance. We could have booked someone else... or done other things with our time. That didn't go over well... their response - "I don't give two fucks about none of that" and "you need us not we need you so remember that..." I have been doing everything I could to help their business - referring them to multiple people, etc. When I said I needed to update my reviews and stop referring them (after Curtis' profanity) his response was "do whatever it is that you need to do" because "one person is not gonna affect nothing trust me." At this point, the story started to have contradictions too - initially, it was that there were 2 deaths 6 days apart, then he said the two were 3 days apart , then someone died late one evening and had a funeral the very next day. I want to believe him - despite all the contractions and unlikely story - I still feel that way. It is odd to me, though, that someone would take a job immediately before a funeral, have our job booked at the same time as a funeral, but not just tell us that and instead leave us out-of-town and waiting... However, at the end of the day - this is someone who tells a repeat customer that they don't care that their poor communication cost them quite a bit of money and loads of personal time... that one customer's negative experience won't make a difference, and they messed up our situation but that's not their problem... That's not a very customer service-driven attitude. If you are thinking about hiring them, I suggest you ask yourself, if they did that to us, what are they going to do to you? Again, if one customer doesn't matter, then do two or three? Clearly Curtis Porter has no respect or concern for the customer at all... he just had to tell us that he couldn't come out - instead of leaving us waiting around most of the day and entering contracts for storage space. The morning after I initially posted this review he send me three more extensive tests at 7:48 AM - "karma's a bitch, etc." hope we get slammed by fees from storage units, etc.

The on-site team reiterated the same information. That assurance was the deciding factor in choosing this service. To be clear: I would not have selected this company had I known this would be the outcome. After paying nearly $400 for this service, no donation receipt was provided. In this economy, that's not a minor issue--it was a key part of the value I was told to expect. When I contacted customer service, I was redirected from the national line to a local office, where I was told I "should not have been told that" and was advised to use my paid service receipt as a tax write-off instead. That is not an acceptable substitute for a legitimate donation receipt. I also reviewed your website and found no clear public-facing policy stating that donation receipts are not provided--yet your team explicitly told me I would receive one. That level of inconsistency is unacceptable. If this is truly company policy, it needs to be clearly communicated upfront--not contradicted multiple times during the sales and service process. Customers should not be misled into expecting documentation that will not be provided. I am requesting: * Clarification of your official policy regarding donation receipts * Accountability for the misinformation provided * A resolution for this specific situation At this point, this reflects a clear misrepresentation of services and a breakdown in communication. I would appreciate a prompt and transparent response.

Francesca was great -responsive, straightforward, okay with some back and forth to get to a good time and to get the payment done afterwards. Scheduling and payment was super simple - no forms to fill out etc. -A bit before the appointed time, two nice, professional men showed up to my door and were literally in and out in under 5 minutes. We lived in one of the largest apartments in our area with two bedrooms and a loft. The space was on the fourth floor with no elevator. We tried to empty out as much as we could to quickly realize we needed the help of professionals. In just two sessions, Carlos and his team were able to COMPLETELY clean out our residence. This included everything in all cabinets in a very stocked kitchen and two bathrooms, three King sized beds, three very large mounted TVs along with their mounting, five couches and all screws and wall hangings. I was in utter disbelief when I went to do a final sweep since there was literally nothing for me to sweep. Not to mention the cost for the service was VERY competitive. I am truly grateful to the team and i will be recommending them to everyone I possibly can.
