I used to get amazing cuts at Capricio, then I went to the Cutting Group and was very pleasantly surprised. Now I try to send my business to the Cutting Group for the good looks and the great price. Now, the problem here is that I've tried to come as a walk-in twice consecutively but there has been a hour wait. Why? There is only one person cutting. Why are there so many cutting stations but only one stylist? I mean, I understand the labor cost, but it just isn't practical or efficient to be understaffed when the demand is higher than the supply. Please please please open with two stylists rather than let the waiting period grow. Again, great cut! Great Price! Just be prepared to wait. read more

I'm a low-maintenance hair person. My hair is naturally super straight, and I don't color it or like to deal with lots of layers. That being said, I really only cut it a few times a year and don't like to drop a fortune on a simple cut. For those reasons, the concept of The Cutting Group is really attractive to me. By going to a walk-in salon, I don't feel so much like a prodigal customer returning to a regular stylist after months at a time. This past month, I opted to visit TCG. After only a few minutes, I was taken to a chair, was asked what I'd like to do, and the stylist did her thing. It was great. Perhaps the only downside is it took over an hour to trim my simple locks, but I also failed to mention I had somewhere to be. I figure, if you want a 15 minute haircut, there are plenty of other in-and-out places nearby. I'd rather go for the wash, cut, and style instead. Clean salon, pleasant staff, easy peasy. All in all, I really enjoyed my experience and look forward to going back sometime. read more

I wear my hair long for most guys, kind of arty, swept back look. It was getting a little long for me so tried the Cutting Group. First time great cut. This time six inches of hair is less than two in the back and what's worse is I'm sporty a god awful preppy look. What part of take an inch and half off was hard to understand? Once I could get home to take a closer look, it's not even cut well. I think it's even more upsetting since the first cut was great. So roll the dice on your stylist. read more

I was appalled with my visit there today. As a long time client of Beauty, I would know that if the owner was with me today, two girls would have been without jobs. After waiting an hr, I watched as my stylist sit on a stool, look at her computer/ phone...and basically ignore me. Not a comment about ready to go in 5 min. NOTHING! After 6 min. I finally got up and asked if things were going to start in motion. Both of these girls cut hair as fast as paint dries...I mean really slow. While one was yakking and shrill laughter the other was wasting time. I know this place does walk ins and it's a first come service but come on....once we got started I have to say...it was like a 4 year old washing hair....I have short hair, yet she just couldn't quite seem to get the task done. (The only thing I wanted was a wash/blow out) I told her I had to be downtown by 2:30...her comment about how it wouldn't take her that long...well, I had to leave with some of my hair wet because at 2:15 Samantha was still in her mode of I could care less....management/owner....take a reality check and see what's going on over there! So I arrived at12:35 and left with wet hair at2:15, and I had been in the chair for 45 min. in case this wasn't clear...I have much better things to do with my time..my stylist at Beauty can cut, color, highlight and wax in the time these two girls can even wash and dry someone! read more

Low rent! Avoid this place at all costs. I had this girl cut my hair and she completely screwed it up. She failed to listen to me as i explained to her what areas to avoid. She also thought she could free hand a blend but she left me all patchy and complelty uneven. The next day I came in to speak with the manager and request a refund. The manager could care less about what happened. When I asked to give me her boss's number she completely deflected it with a promise of a free haircut next time. I refused to accept that and finally she gave his number. From the way the staff behaved I seriously doubt the owner will be at all helpful. That being the case I will be contacting the Milwaukee health department. The place is dirty and in clear violation of multiple health codes. When you walk in you are completely taken back by the awful smell. The sinks which they wash your hair are filthy. They are cross contaminating their equipment due to a lack of hygene Like I said before avoid this place at all costs! read more

The stylists are friendly but they are NOT very good. I've never had a good cut there, in fact my last one was so horrendous that I have given up for good. I feel bad writing a negative review because I like the stylists, but I'm trying to save others from disappointment. They really need to train their people more! read more

Really great. Service was fast and stylist listened to my requests. They use a lot of bumble and bumble products, which are too quality. Haircuts are $25, or $22 is you share your contact info (and you get a free cut on your birthday then too!). I'm sure to be coming back. Thanks! read more

I lit is generally a good place with some inconvience. They are walk in and have have a sign in list, but if its over an hour wait they won't let you sign it for the reason of "walk-ins", although I was a walk-in. That part is terribly inconvenient as I don't have the time to stop in randomly throughout the day. And in one case it took me 3 visits before I was able to get my hair cut as they wouldn't let me sign the list due to the wait. However, the hair stylist are good and friendly and despite the inconvenience they are still worth going to, unless the wait issue gets worse. read more

I have been to the cutting group multiple times. The last time I was there 2-3 weeks ago will be the last. I got the worst bang cut I have ever gotten. I specified clearly what I wanted and to specifically follow what my last hairstylist did for my bangs, but the stylist insisted on cutting it "the right way" aka her way and that the way they were cut previously was "weird and not the way they should be cut" The bangs ended up not flattering my face at ALL and I look like I am 5 again. Coupled with this experience, and the fact that the wait is minimum 30 minutes sometimes upwards of an hour is just not worth the price anymore. read more

Sorry, but I just cannot understand why any of these salons are still open or why anyone would go there. The time management skills that the staff have are embarrassing. It doesn't matter which location I go to it's always the same story. "We'll put your name down" "Come in an hour". An hour rolls by and I show up and guess what I have to wait ANOTHER hour just to get my haircut because you've let two other people on "the list" go ahead of me. Let's not forget how long the process actually takes from start to finish to get my hair cut. Certain locations have these stylists that just chat your ear off. I don't mind some friendly conversation but let's get something straight. I waited an hour from the time I called to actually come in. After I come in I have to wait another hour, and now you're doing more talking than cutting so my men's cut that should take 25 minutes takes over 45 minutes. How is that acceptable? I have seen more people storm out of this place pissed off than I want to admit. Does that speak volumes to you, Cutting Group? If you want to waste 3+ hours of your day just to get a haircut then this place is for you. read more

I go to the Cutting Group in Bayview. I went there a few weeks ago to chop about 6 inches off of my hair which is a lot for me. I came in on a Sunday and a woman that said she usually works on the east side cut my hair. She wasn't super friendly at first and was really rude to someone who came in and asked to buy a gift card and just told the lady "I dunno I don't usually work here idk where they would even be." The woman left upset and then the stylist was all pissy someone would ask her that. She didn't cut my hair quite as short as I had asked which was fine, but once it was dry and I could actually see how it looked I asked if she could go a bit shorter. Her response was "like, the whole thing?" And she was super pissed. I said sorry maybe just the layers then? The layers look like a second shelf of hair and don't blend at all. It's like she was annoyed I asked her to do her job so she ruined my hair. Def will only go to the bayview location when their normal awesome stylists are actually there :/ read more

I went to the cutting group for the first time last week. The girl who cut my hair was very thorough and knew her stuff! Better yet, I got the same treatment for $25 that I would have gotten at another salon for $40. I walked away with a great hair cut and will definitely go back there for my next one! read more

I wanted to try this place so I called ahead. They told me that they don't take reservations. I wanted to know if I could have my hair cut by 7 (closing time on a Saturday) if I came in at 530. They said Yes. I signed in at 530. No one greeted me or told me how long it would take to get a haircut. There were 3 names on the list and two people who were just finishing their hair. Once the next two were in the chairs, it was around 545. They finished with their hair around 630. One of the two workers left at this point. Then the other client who was waiting was taken to her seat. Her haircut went from 630 UNTIL I LEFT at 730. She was still getting her hair dried. In total, I was there for over 2 hours, no one talked to me, and I didn't get a haircut. I am sure that their abilities are wonderful, but their customer service was absolutely abhorrent. Other people came in and asked to be called when their name came up The workers said that they would NOT call because its "not their job" and that the person would have to wait in the waiting area if they wanted their hair cut. After he left they were complaining about him. However, he would have been after me anyway, so he would have waited the 2 hours I waited and had I stayed, he would have had to wait for my haircut which probably would have been another 45 to an hour. THIS WAS HONESTLY the least professional hair studio that I have ever been to and THIS WAS THE MOST FRUSTRATING AND TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE THAT I HAVE HAD TO DATE....IN MY LIFE. I will never ever go back there...it's not worth the 2 hour wait. read more
