Wonderful place great prices they know their stuff my tank had red slime diatoms 2 other stores had ideas but didn't work cuttlefish recommended purple non sulfur bacteria I was at the point I would try anything in about a week started seeing less slime and as the weeks went on my tank looked like nothing happened all my corals sps and lps have never looked so healthy the colors pop I call this stuff miracle grow for reeftank so if any one has problems with color or algae you have to get some couldn't believe my eyes read more

Jeff and the CuttleFish fam are amazing (he refers to all his employees as family). They try to get to know you, talk to you... you are referred to as friends, not customers. Always going out of their way to help anyway they can if you have questions, or in need of anything. During storms when everyone lost power Jeff told everyone to bring down the corals and fish to see if he can help. He takes calls on vacation to help where he can... tank blow out in the middle of the night Jeff is driving to see if he can help save anything. For work I have traveled to different major cities, and at each city I try and stop by a reef shop before heading home. This is by far one of the best coral & fish stores I have been to! The pricing is VERY good considering the high-end SPS you can get, the zoanthids, LPS, and other corals are all very healthy, all the frags are healed and healthy! The fish are healthy and they often have hard to find fish available. The owner Jeff helped me pack up a cooler to take all of my goodies home with me, I ended up getting a flame wrasse pair, labouti wrasse, inferno anemone and several SPS frags (all amazing colors and thriving in my system). I have since returned 2x and even convinced my wife to drive with me 6 hours to Portland to see this shop since I cannot find any thing to compare in Spokane. The only thing I could wish for would be more online posts, the locals here are spoiled and can go into the shop every week when they get shipments in to cherry pick. Imagine my joy when I walked into Cuttle Fish and Corals and saw the colorful seahorses, the bright clear tanks, the live rock, the fish, and the helpful voice of Shaun, who explained all about buying cultured seahorses, the needs of salt-water tanks, and who showed me pictures of the seahorses on *his* bucket list :-) This is a fabulous store, and a fabulous representative of the store and the life aquatic. Jeff and Cory are fantastic to work with. Their guidance and patience is much appreciated. The lives stock is very healthy and well cared for. I haven't bought any corals yet but they look to be just as good. Jeff remembers you by name and makes you feel welcomed and doesn't push anything on you. They say they are there to help and mean it. They will take the time to help you trouble shoot water condition issues, care needs of livestock and even help design rock formations for your tank. Came in for "small business saturday" for some killer deals. Got there shortly after opening and it was super busy. There wasn't any organization for "who got there first" and a girl walked in before me and the guy in front of me and got 2 of the last 4 clownfish. The guy in front of me got the last 2 and had 2 more rainchecked. I had driven up 2 hours specifically for the clowns, so I was a bit disappointed to not be able to get any and didn't plan to drive up again to pick up. The store is small but well stocked. The staff seems knowledgeable and they have a fantastic variety of frags available. Very reasonably priced, and if I am in the area I will for sure be back! read more

What a CUTE little shop !! We were just walking by and decided to check the place out! My favorite was the SEAHORSE... I just couldn't walk away! They seem like a mythical creature. My wife and I were walking down Mississippi a few weeks ago and stopped in this little shop. It was busy and there was a lot to look at. Everything is really nicely presented, and the shop is very clean. We started talking to the owner, Jeff, and realized this was not your average fish shop. Imagine your standard aquarium store: Dark, humid, damp smelling. Rows and Rows of fish of all sorts. Shelves stacked high with confusing looking equipment. That's not what you get here. The store is brightly lit and well organized. Jeff, the owner, has a great system for potential customers. He puts together an all in one package: tank, fish, corals, rock, sand, water. He comes out to your house and sets it all up and teaches you about it for a nominal fee. You don't have to figure out what fish get along with each other, or which corals need which lights, because he already has. Great store. Lots of fun to look through all the tanks to see what new creatures they have. We got a 10 gallon salt water set up and had it delivered. Outstanding healthy specimens. Ive spent time in this store since it was first opening up, and the owner (and now staff) are true masters of reeftanks. The animals are always healthy, and this importance of this cannot be overstated. This store is built for sustainable reefkeeping, it is ethical, they are extremely knowledgeable and friendly, and the animals are not only ecologically responsible (aquacultured usually), but well cared for. Having been in countless aquarium stores up and down the entire West Coast and Midwest, including wholesalers, let me assure you this is the top tier of ethical reefkeeping and extremely healthy animals. They successfully keep basket-starfish (crinoids) alive - this is a testament to their care for delicate living things. This store does not kill animals for $, and the same cannot be said of a large number of aquaria shops. I would give this store and its owner 6 stars if Yelp allowed. read more

Amazing little Reef Aquarium shop that specializes in captive/sustainable raised marine fish, and corals. This shop also has all the necessary items for maintaining captive reef aquariums. The prices are very competitive and he even has packaged systems ready to go out the door! I found him (Jeff) very knowledgeable and he could answer all of my questions and I have been in this hobby for many, many years. The weekend foot traffic can crowd this little store and I find the week days the best time to shop without having wait to see all the goodies. This is without question a top notch reef store, and in a market where there is so little quality to choose from! The owner (Jeff) is extremely knowledgable and I've been there on more than one occasion where I have overheard him actually tell a potential buyer that what they are wanting may not be the best "fish/coral" for their tank and explains why and what could be a nice addition. Jeff seems happy to give advise and suggestions and in a hobby like this where knowledge and experience are so important that value he brings is priceless. I can't count the times I've been in other stores and seen others (including myself) been sold something to find out later that it was a terrible fit for the tank. Some stores are all about the sale and could care less about asking what type of tank you have or your experience in the hobby to see if that "new item" is a good fit. The store although small is incredibly clean and all livestock has always looked very healthy. The great news is they will be opening a new store in Nov 2013 which will make this place hands down the #1 store in all of Portland. This place is clean, bright and fresh. And it's specialized - all salt water and serious about it. They have great fish, soft and hard corals, invertebrates, tanks, gear, supplies, etc. But the thing that sets them apart is the expertise and friendly, helpful service.
