The meeting went well and the person that showed up at my house was nice and polite. The problem was that I felt as if I had to chase the person in order to get my bid. They stated that they had to go out of town and I would get the bid when they returned. So I received the bid 7 days after my appointment and 5 days after all the other bids. The price of the concrete was a fair price but I decided to go with another company because of the time frame I needed. Perhaps next project I can use this company.

The company changes their name, but they are the palapa company located off of I-45 in La Marque. This is not an honest company and they do not stand by their work. Thomas, with Paradise Palapas donated a $2000 gift card for a silent auction to a PTO at a nearby elementary school. I was the silent auction winner of the gift card. I visited the business and met with Thomas who allowed me to upgrade my purchase to a $5000 palapa with a $2000 credit towards it since I had the gift card. Thomas was scheduled to come out to look at our backyard, but he never showed up. No calls, no emails, no follow-up. He ignored my calls so I had to send him a facebook message. He did respond at one point and apologized for the missed appointment. We rescheduled, but he again never answered my calls. I sent messages again through Facebook, but he ignored those. I ended up calling him from an anonymous number and he FINALLY answered. He informed me that he "no longer works at that company" so my gift card could not be honored. He told me to try and call the number listed on the website, but that number only goes straight to voicemail. I was under the impression from my initial visit that Thomas was the owner of the company, but he now acts like he isn't the owner. I looked up the company and noticed over the years they have had several tax liens against their business from the state of Texas so that tells me what kind of individuals they are. I think it is really bad that they would do this to a PTO organization and an elementary school, money that should be used for children. Galveston County records show the company was established in November of 2011 under the owner name of Samuel Jeffords III. Thomas Jeffords was the individual I spoke with. The BBB online shows the company was established in November 2012 under the owner name of Mr. Josh David Jeffords. In looking at Galveston County records, Joshua Jeffords and Samuel Jeffords have opened and closed several businesses over the years (Clear Choice Contractors and The Cedar Connection). The Galveston County database also shows that many of these individuals have also had child support liens and federal tax liens against them. Just another reason to be concerned with doing any business with these individuals.

Other companies quoted me but did not fully disclose added costs of inspections and add on costs like extra outlets, fans, lights and so forth. When another company said they would put the posts 3' down cause that was all that was needed, this company put the posts 4' down, and insured that the patio structure was not only beautiful, but met windstorm requirements as well. We had the pleasure of having Kool Covers install 3 covers (patio, carport, swim spa) and a cement pad. The 23ft x13ft for a 19ft x 8ft swim spa 23000lbs wet weight 4 inch rebar). Jeremiah stayed in close contact about the appointment for the bid. He was prompt, friendly, professional and discussed freely and openly all pros and cons to each option. We had 11 other bids. Most bids were higher (2 extremely high), a couple lower (you had to question the ability to do a good job) and several in the same general range. The choice to have Kool Covers was an easy choice the honesty, experience in the industry, price, and quality expected in their work stood out. The job had to be done in strict time frames. The pad had to be poured and cured, fence removed to bring the spa in, the fence had to be back up the next day and the new siding painted and the covers installed. The pad was done less than a week after the contract was signed. Due to weather and other parties delays the spa and fence were delayed 6 weeks. Jeremiah stayed in contact via phone, text, and email. This was nice not having to worry about when on if the cover crew would be here and working in the allotted time frame. With weather cooperation and the other contractors completing their jobs Kool Covers went to work on schedule! The crew of two men worked like a well oiled team. The crew answered any questions and explained everything they were doing. Three covers one patio 10ft x27ft, one carport 20ft x20ft, and one spa cover 24ft X 14ft X 12 ft tall. Installed in one day!!! The crew swept, and left NO mess (unlike the other contractors). The spa cover and patio cover each have an additional two foot tall cement sleeve around the support poles. We learned a valuable lesson with our first covers about male dogs and rain. The old covers support pole and attaching bracket rusted due to male dogs and rain water puddling around the pole and slab attachment. Thanks to Jeremiah his willingness to discuss pros and cons, as well as positive attitude finding answers the dogs and rain won't rot/rust out at the bottom. Would I use or recommend Kool Covers YES, YES, YES for myself, family, friends or anyone wanting a professional, reputable, fairly priced and good quality job!!!

I received the money to pay for repairs and the work started as soon as they could schedule me in. Work started and they worked every day on different projects until work was done. Scott Barker, the owner of GCR Builders, came to my house every day to check in. He kept in touch with me, and is very customer oriented.
