I purcha from the store clerk from a shelf behind the counter what I thought was a 3 in 1 home test for Covid, flu A, and flu B. I turned away, took 3 steps toward the door but still is close eye sight of that clerk, then realized that the home test purchased was Covid only. I turned and approached that clerk, handed him that purchased test kit for exchange, and was directed to the rear of the store to the pharmacy where I found the 3 in 1 test kit. When I returned to pay the balance in that exchange ( about $2), the clerk discovered that the prior mistaken kit couldn't be returned or exchanged. He called the store manager. Both of us, the clerk and I, told her the mistake and that I had never left the store or the clerk's sight. I literally had the mistaken purchase for just 30 seconds in my hand. She adamantly refused to assist in correcting the mistake or refunding my money. She claimed "the CVS system will not allow it. There is nothing I can do." I purchased the second and correct test kit. My wife tested POSITIVE for influenza A. I won't be going back to any CVS if a soulless computer runs all customer service. read more

I was recently at the CVS pharmacy and my group of friends were treated rude by a staff member named Jennifer, who worked in front office. She was telling us to leave as soon as we got in because we look suspicious. I think that's incredibly rude especially in today's time, also while we are walking around, she said that she was watching us and I would like this to be taken care of thank you. read more

Pretty standard CVS as others have noted. The location is on King Street except several blocks from both the metro and the waterfront. There selection of cards is surprisingly large and I've been able to find some here when I couldn't find the appropriate people or occasions at Harris Teeter. Most recently I came here for the photo services. It's super easy to make copies of photos from your camera roll. The prices are good too. It's weird though how you pay after making the photos. I didn't see a barcode on the receipt and the cashier helped me at the self-checkout. She only charged 99 cents for a single 5x7. In pretty sure it was more than that but I'm not complaining. I'd definitely stop for the photo services and cards here in the future. Oh, and it's open 24/7-perfect if you need a quick item at a random hour. read more

Unfortunately, the self-checkout machines often malfunction, meaning it can take more time to check out than actually shop. Luckily, employees are usually quite helpful, but it's clear the store is understaffed. (Here's a thought: CVS can fix this if they actually pay their workers fair wages!) read more

Open 24/7. Late night post-bar snack run! Clean, bright, and organized it's a typical CVS store and pharmacy. They have express self check-out machines here which kept malfunctioning but there was a staff member close by resetting them. Grocery type items in the front and pharmacy in the back. Not only do they sell cold foods and drinks in the fridge, along with ice cream and other freezer products, they also sell beer and some wines here too. Rows of snacks and chips are right in front when you walk in, and close to the check-out area. Easy peasy. Got my chips and pigged out back at my hotel room bed while watching the Food Channel in a buzzed bliss. read more

This is a fairly standard CVS located in the heart of Old Town. Staff is friendly and the store is usually clean and well organized. They frequently have an employee by the front door managing the check out machines and greeting entering guests to see if they need help. They have a small selection of fresh fruit, premade sandwiches and healthier snacks at the front, which is a nice option. They heavily use automated check out machines here but only one accepts cash. Overall, no complaints on this store except that the selection is a bit limited, but that is a function of the location and size of the store read more

Just not a great place to shop. Old town is typically a pleasant and safe place. But not CVS pharmacy. For some reason there is more often than not what appear to be a group homeless gentlemen posted directly outside. After walking in, we were immediately followed in by a man who aggressively stated: "Buy me a Beer." After refusing a few times we found an employee who distracted him until we could leave. I had to swing into the CVS to grab a phone charger after a nice lunch in downtown Alexandria and had my wife and 4 year old daughter with me. Well, upon looking for the items I needed the famous words from my daughter came out of her mouth. "Daddy, I need to go potty." Ok, we are in a public place and every single CVS and Walgreens I had ever been to has a public restroom and I was buying something too. So my wife took my daughter to find the potty and was then told by a staff member that they do not have public restrooms. Really? You cannot let a 4 year old little girls that needs to "go" use the bathroom? Honestly? My wife had to rush our daughter out of the store to a restaurant down the street where they were very accommodating to the situation despite us not being customers and let the little girl go to the bathroom before an accident happened. I understand that Virginia does not have a Restroom Access Act / law but seriously....it is a 4 year old little girl. Have some compassion CVS read more

Stopped in to buy a bag of chips to go with lunch. This rather large CVS doesn't carry snacks in responsible human-sized bags. They have 2 isles dedicated to snacks, but only carry bags in 4+ serving sizes for chips, Doritos, etc. 8+ for Chex mix. I guess this store doesn't want healthy people shopping here. I had the pleasure of walking here very early one morning with a hangover. I had two simple needs 1. Extra Strength Excedrin and 2. A cold diet coke. They had both of these items readily available That is how they managed to get two stars. Checkout was another story. There was a line of approximately 5 people when I got to the front, all impatiently waiting for the one register that was open. The woman at the front of the of the line was bickering about the fact that she had three of the same item and two of them were ringing up as ONE MORE CENT that the other. She stated loudly that she didn't see why she should pay more for two than the other. The cashier apologized and said it didn't make any sense. To me this was pretty obvious. 4 for $x.xx and she's only buying 3. Why the cashier had to call a manager to figure this out is less obvious. Eventually another register opened up. I was on the hunt for a particular body wash that I could not find at Rite Aid or Harris Teeter. Leave it to this little CVS to have it! Unfortunately I had to come all the way to Alexandria, VA to get it. Service here was only okay. Horrible pharmacy! Bad customer service and extremely expensive compared to other pharmacies. They charged me $78 for the same medication I could have got at Safeway pharmacy for $19. Don't make the same mistake I did and always check GoodRX first! In addition, they did not have one of the medication that was called in, so instead of ordering it, they transferred the prescription to another CVS. They claimed they called to inform me but I never received a call. read more

Ahhhh, so far much better than the crappy Ballston CVS! This place is very large, clean and nicely spread out so you aren't bumping into people while you shop. Aisles fully stocked, including the CANDY aisle. That is very important to me. The pharmacy area has a nice large waiting space with chairs which I appreciate. In Ballston there were always large lines building up at the pharmacy and rarely did I see that area empty. Here I saw no line. Same for the checkout - a large space, all the checkout stuff is together so you can easily see where you want to go and there are 5 self-checkouts that all appear to be working. No massive lines midday Saturday, another huge advantage over Ballston CVS. With one trip here I already like it much MUCH better than Ballston and am very pleased! read more

I used to do quite a bit of work for CVS. I love CVS. This is a very good CVS. It's clean, has all the conveniences, like food and beer upfront. It has a make-up area and a sizable Pharmacy in the back. It has a variety of items you might not find in other stores....like wine. On top of that, it's open 24-hrs. What's not to like here? Writing for pharmacy only -- I had an issue with my prescription last night and when I called the pharmacy I spoke to Jessica who provided me with such excellent customer service - she listened to me, troubleshooted the issue until it was resolved, and filled my order asap. This was a clean and large store. It was well stocked and had everything that we looked for.

I stopped by this CVS/pharmacy store in Alexandria Virginia this past Thursday afternoon when I was on my lunch break at work in order to get some drinks. I purchased two Arizona tea 20 ounce plastic bottles that were two for one dollar (one flavor I obtained was lemon tea and the other 20 ounce bottle was Green tea with ginseng and honey). I also got a buy one get one free Reese's Piece's butter cup deal for my husband (he likes Reese's Piece's candy). I was able to purchase these items seamlessly and with plenty of time left on my lunch break. read more

My family and I purchased several items and then asked for the restroom and were told they did not have one and we would have to go somewhere else. The driver for our motor coach came out of the store a few minutes later and had been allowed to use the restroom. Really rude as we had to go to a place that we did not purchase something instead. read more

Ridiculously stupid girl who waited on me at the pharmacy counter. I told her I was there to pick up my prescription, and she told me to go to the "drop off" counter. When I did that, a woman who had previously checked in for a flu shot literally butted in front me and said "I don't want to lose my place in line". The girl who sent me to that counter immediately began to process her request as though I was not there. I was about to speak up about the woman cutting in front of me, when I saw another associate at the "pick up" counter. I went over there and that person assisted me. This is a big step up from the tiny CVS Old Town used to have just a block down King Street. Sadly, it took the place of a Books A Million, which was great to have in the heart of Old Town. This new store is all brand new and has everything you could ever want. There's even a refrigerated section. It's like a tiny Wal-Mart. read more

Ordered pictures online that said same day....after 24 hours I go in to find out if they are ready. The man said we will contact you when ready. I wait another 3 days and call before making the trip over. The lady said we will print them now if you will pick up. I made a trip over to find horribly printed photos.
