I have been coming to this CVS for years (Simply because it's the closest drugstore to my house.) I never have serious issues with this place, but I do have minor beefs that all together add up to a sad 2 star review. First of all, the pharmacy is always a bit on the busy side so expect to wait behind a few people every single time you come. Also, automatic refills on prescriptions are hit or miss. Sometimes they get it right, sometimes they don't, and have to call your doctor to fix it. Occasionally a pharmacy will give you your medicine on the spot, or after a few minutes of waiting. But every single time I come here they say "Come back in an hour" or worse, "Come back tomorrow and we will have your prescription ready." Yes, it's cool they have a drive through, but who wants to drive through it twice for one prescription? Quite inconvenient to make two trips to this pharmacy, when at others I can get it all in one stop. Lazy me. Always choosing closest over bestest. When shopping here, I'm usually able to find what I'm looking for except for a few times, like when I'm looking for something really specific. It's an unmentionable, so I'll let you use your imagination on that one ;) Nonetheless, it's an unmentionable that all other CVS's and Walgreens have in stock. Forget about calling in ahead to check if they have your item. It never fails that you have to listen to a long recording and press a lot of number options just to finally get a live lady on the line who has a very thick accent and can hardly speak English. After getting frustrated over the phone, I'm always left feeling I would've been better off just showing up and looking for the item myself. Hate to sound like a mega complainer, especially since I continue to come here so often - but it is true what the other Yelpers are saying. There is always a line to wait in at check-out and usually only one cashier working (taking their sweet time.) Patience is a virtue, and it is one that I've yet to have acquired. read more

First. Got the hair pin the sign is for $3.99 with lots of boxes hanging there. Go to cashier charged me $6.99. Returned. Then Jessica help me and act dump. When I told her specifically that I wants to used $5 extra buck. She mess up all the returned and charged. Finally, she doesn't want to give me a previous refund receipt. Never return. read more

They refuse for you to use the bathroom. All CVS allow their clients to use the restrooms except this one. Bad management

In March I was trying to get a first vaccine dosage from extras. I was told conflicting information by the staff, on a daily basis. Some said to call some said to come in at varying times. They had people line up in a tiny aisle, and people waiting on extras were told to congregate closeby, no line. It seems they were trying to give people antibodies by infecting rather than inoculating. read more

I've been to this CVS several times and I have to say Matthew is probably one of the nicest people ever. Every time he's been there, he has by far offered the best customer service I've ever seen. He's gone out of his way a few times for me. He's just a really cool kid. I wish I owned a company, I would like to steal him and give him a very high salary. I hope he does big things in life. Still the worst CVS I've ever been to. When I call regarding my prescriptions they ask personal questions that should not be asked. I am diabetic and pregnant and I use many test strips during my pregnancies plus CGM if I need to. I don't need to be asked why I need so many glucose test strips plus my CGM device. Whoever answers the phone (Asian Woman) not Fiona, is rude and has asked me these questions. Also beware because they were charging me full price for my insulin pens, which should be a BOXED AMOUNT OF 5, opening the box and only giving me three of the pens in a plastic ziplock bag. Talk about unsanitary and a total rip off. I called my insurance about this and have confronted them about it. They were quick to fix this issue after the third time of trying to do this. Looks like this cvs cuts corners and I would love to report it to corporate. Previously I was having issues with getting the correct amount of test strips filled by this pharmacy and then they've even given me the wrong items more than once. There's no communication whatsoever between them and my doctors office and they love to blame and use that excuse when obviously it's not true because I am able to talk with my doctor at any time. I have never had so many problems with one CVS in my life. The other CVS I used to go to would go above and beyond making sure things were always up to par and ready for me when I needed them. Also when you call sometimes there is a rude person who just picks up and puts you on hold like nothing. You need a course on customer service for sure. The rest of the staff seems very nice so I don't know who the other people are in the pharmacy dept that are rude and suck at their job. I will most likely be ordering my supplies from another company moving forward due to these issues and rude uneducated people. I went to this CVS location to pick up a few items, and there's a person right in front of their doors soliciting for something. I thought I'd be smart and try using the other entrance, but the door is inoperable. So, I had to walk through the entrance where the solicitor was. He speaking to me in Spanish, but I don't speak Spanish. All the whole he's pointing to this can. I politely walk around him to go into the store. I grab my items and proceed to the cashier and asked why they would allow him to be right in front of the doors. The cashier's response was, "he's been there for months." I told her that you're forced to walk around him to enter, so they need to do something about it. She said, "I guess I can tell the manager." Not only is it an inconvenience, but it's a safety risk for some shoppers. read more

It is in the perfect spot between some major cross streets before the freeway. Don't expect a lot of the employees assistance because they seem overworked but I will always go back and shop here because of the location. read more

I frequently visit this cvs, today was one of my shopping visits. I witnessed the nicest cashier help a homeless man look for a snack. It seems a very basic thing to do, I saw beyond that. The cashier by the name of Matthew treated this man with respect and dignity and went out of his way to find a snack he could afford. It was very heartwarming to see this. I had to post this. The pharmacy need to improve their telephone services. I understand the pharmacy staff are busy, but at least designated someone to handle phone call. Picking up the phone and put on hold without getting the customer's info is RUDE!!! Left the customers hanging on the phone for freaking 20 minutes just to hang up on them is TOTALLY DISRESPECTFUL!!! Man, this CVS has to be one of the most poorly run CVS around. I call it the CVS: Castle Greyskull. But that's mainly because of the manager woman who looks exactly, and I mean EXACTLY like Skeletor. It's rather scary when you see her and I haven't dealt with her when it didn't seem like He-man just foiled her evil plots. This CVS also violated their liquor license a month or so back and couldn't sell beer or the hard stuff for the rest of the month. It was pretty comical to see a stack of boxes blocking the liquor isle. Perhaps the lesson there is not to sell to minors. But you can and should sell to miners -- as their job is pretty shitty and has a high mortality rate. Let alone that whole black lung thing. The newspaper section is always messed up. So if you're looking for the Sunday paper here, you better just go and find a news stand since you're only going to find pieces of two or three week old papers here. Stuff is messy all the time and they look at you crossways if you dare try to use coupons of any variety. Lines get backed up pretty quickly here and they're often decent about calling more employees to the front to run a register -- though the amount of times they come in any time to make it feel like you just wasted 20 minutes on trying to buy some milk and bread is all too often. It's also at the corner of Valley and Fremont. Anyone who knows Alhambra could tell you that it's a pain in the ass to deal with the traffic around here. read more

CVS Pharmacies are a far cry from their old Sav*On counterparts. I have yet to visit a CVS filled with helpful staff and their aisles have a tendency of being depleted of product. Each visit to the pharmacy is frustrating. I am normally given an estimated time of when my prescription would be available. Seldom do they call my name at the quoted time, nor is my name called at all. I always end up walking right up to the pick up counter only to find that my prescription was ready! Ugh! Tonight's visit was uneventful. Just shopping for some Advil and cough drops. Only one girl working the register. At least she was nice. I have had better success at Rite-Aid. This particular CVS is walking distance from where I live. I live just south of the intersection of Fremont and Valley, and for those of you who live in the area or know the area, Fremont can get very very congested. It's basically why they're trying to extend the 710 freeway. I'm explaining all of this, because it's the reason why I come to this CVS so often. It's either take two minutes to come to this CVS or drive 20 minutes to get to Albertsons up the road. I don't like CVS's "bucks" deal that they do. It's a scam in my opinion, I mean who keeps track of their receipts? Instead of just giving you instant savings, they give you these "bucks" to use on your next visit, I can't tell you how annoying it is. This CVS gets very insanely busy. The lines are ridiculously long, and their registers are so very slow. Unlike supermarkets (where you can manually enter your phone # for your club card), CVS employees have to put the number in for you, from behind the register, this in itself takes up a lot of time. Even when the lines are crazy long, there's really only one or two employees (aside from the pharmacy techs, who stay in their own area) that are scrambling to help everyone in the store. The store is also always in disarray. It looks like a tornado hit the store, but only on the inside. With the amount of money this store generates, you'd think they'd be able to put it back into stock and hire more people. It's unfortunate, I know how these corporations work, they force these stores to run on a bare minimum payroll in order to further fund their own corporate pockets. I feel bad for the employees here, you can tell even they are frustrated. read more

Short Review: Go to Walgreens for the service, Rite Aid for the ice cream, and CVS for the bucks! Long Review: CVS is not the nicest place to go: the customer service is OK and the store, at least this one, is not the prettiest. It also does NOT have a 24 HOUR pharmacy here. But, there is a drive through pharmacy and they give out CVS bucks for certain purchases. It's like a pay it forward discount - buy now, and we'll give you cash to buy other things within a month. Go get your bucks, and then use them. But if you don't get the discounts, you might want to go somewhere else. read more

What's wrong with this CVS? I see at least 2 to 3 people each time in the Pharmacy. One is manning the register. The other 2 are hiding in the back. There's a long line of customers and the other 2 just hide? At least at the front, if there's more than 4 people in line, the cashier always calls the Asian lady manager to come up to open up another register. I like scanning & getting my $4 off with $20 purchase IF the damn scanning machine wasn't out of paper, which it ALWAYS IS! Came by today after voting. The young man with the very long hair and glasses was very attentive, considerate and so helpful. He kept asking if I needed a cart even if I knew I could handle bringing it out to my car on my own. I felt they this was so caring and wonderful. I really like this CVS. Everyone is so nice and they greet you with a smile. They also have exactly what I need. Thanks so much! Very very poor customer service I came into this cvs around 9:30 pm on 9/12/19 and as I was checking out at about 10:04 closing time the lady with the "brassy gray" grown out shoulder length hair with glasses that was closing with a very (respectful) gentleman... as she checked out my items my total was around 68 and I only had $100 bill and she was like I have no change.... come on you've done sales all day... no change? I apologize and tell her it's all I have and she sighs as me... stares at me and continues to say oh ahah I have change doesn't even hand me or count the money in front of me she tosses the cash on the counter and throws the hand in my change and walks away leaving me there not even a thank you ... I had about 5 items and she not once asks if I need a bag (no upselling skills at all) ... sorry honey if you want to go home fast but you should've thought about that before choosing a a career in retail ... customers come first and at least show respect!!! I have been to this CVS a couple of times and never had any issues here. I do like that they have an automotive section so I can pick up motor oil and windshield wiper fluid for cheap and also spend my CVS bucks here. I didn't have to wait for long in line, which was nice. They have a small parking lot and I have never had an issue with finding parking here. I would come back if in the area. read more

Do not go to the cashier Judy. She does not know how coupons work. And she does not know to scan your extracare bucks. I had her refund everything because I was so frustrated with making sure she scanned everything. She did not scan my extracare bucks ($15), which meant I paid $15 over my cost. And she did not scan my cvs coupon that printed from the cvs coupon machine ($3). In total I overpaid $18. If the register wasn't so slow and finally load, I would be able see her mistakes. Also, Judy couldn't figure out how to give me my refund. None of the available cashiers helped her and she ended up doing some weird transaction, but eventually I got my refund. I left empty handed and went to another store. She is not worth another hour of my time. Very bad experience indeed. read more

I'm not sure why this CVS accrues so many complaints. I've been shopping here regularly for the past several months and haven't experienced any discomfort.. shopping is easy enough for you to glide in and out, the pharmacy staff is very attentive and work swiftly... I've been getting my prescriptions filled faster than the estimated wait time they tell me. This store halted liquor sales for a 2 week stretch, but have no fear liquor is made available once more so that certainly makes me happy. To sum it all up, as mentioned I haven't had any issues with this store including customer service, but it's apparent some people have and perhaps that's why they now have a new store manager. I'd recommend this CVS to anyone. read more

2.5 Stars. CVS is not terrible, as the 2-star rating implies, but I'd say it's below an "A-OK." Why? I would expect a place like this to open super early for your early-bird needs. It does not. I would expect employees to know about their products. They really don't. Since it doesn't offer the formerly mentioned services, I would expect reasonable prices - esp. on stuff that these stores typically keep in stock. They're not. Guadalupe, the register incompetent girl who rung me up, was too worried about MY attitude!!! This CVS always always ALWAYS has long lines. I've always had to wait in line for at least 15 minutes. They usually only have 1 cashier up front and when it gets a lot longer, they'll just only add 1 more. They're is no point in having 4 registers available when they're is only 1 or 2 people working there. Sometimes, I see employees go up there just to clock out for lunch/break when they see a line of 10 customers waiting to be rung up. If I were the manager, I would at least have them help with the line even for 5 minutes. The vitamin section is not stocked very well, but their make up/skin care/hair care section is usually pretty stocked. read more

Have you ever had a place nearby that you really wish was better than it actually is? One of those places that actually offers useful services that you sometimes need but each time you go you feel like it's the last time you will go? This is how I feel about all CVS stores. I know there has to be more than one employee working at a time in these places and yet every time I come in, even if it's just to grab a drink or a pack of gum, or print a picture, it's at least a 15-20 minute wait. The most frustrating part is that it's such a convenient location, it has things i need or want so i keep going back hoping that just once I can do a quick run in and out. So far.... nothing even close to that. I would just like to make mention that this review is not only for the Alhambra CVS but it is for all the cvs's that I have visited in the last few years. From 3 of them in Pasadena, 2 in Arcadia, 1 in highland park, Glendale, long beach... all of them! all bad all the time. But like i said, I'll most likely keep going hoping one day more than one register will be open. On a positive note. I have not had a problem with the pharmacy. read more

Went to get some antibiotic and ibuprofen, after just getting 2 tooth extraction, after walking 5 block, (car in the shop til monday) was told i can't get it today because they are back up and would have to come back to pick it up tomorrow at noon.. What kind of pharmacy is this. So If I am in pain or the surgery area gets infected, they are ok with that.. That female manager that runs the pharmacy dept., should be fired. This CVS store on Valley and Fremont is by far the best pharmacy I ever had. All the staff are very friendly. Especially the two pharmacists that I interacted with the most, Fiona and Cecilia. This CVS does not honor their ads. Yesterday, I went there to buy an item that advertised on their ad with a 75 cents manufactured coupon. The female cashier claimed the coupon was not scanning. She agreed I had correct item & coupon but she had an attitude of too bad so sad. Told me come back next day & speak to manager . Say what ?? Why she could n't she just give me the money, then next day when the scanning is working SHE could scanned it ??? Having to come to this place is always a horrible experience for me. The Pharmacy staff is useless. They have actually lost my prescriptions before. And the regular staff here is even worse. Don't even think about asking for assistance because they don't know or care how to help. And management is usually this teenage kid who always wheres a tie to clearly state that he is the "Manager" but he knows less than most of the other associates. If I were him I'd loose the tie and try and blend in, becuase he is not Management matieral. read more

LESSON LEARNED. Don't ever leave the pharmacy without double-checking whether you got the right medication or not. I ended up with the wrong one, but because I did not realise this until I had left the pharmacy, they will not take the medicine back or give me a refund. To be fair, this is not all their fault. Here's a recap of what happened: 1. Stood in line at the pick-up counter (had previously received a generic text telling me my prescription was ready for pickup). 2. Went up to the counter, gave them my name and DOB, and the guy brought out the package. He told me the price and I paid with my credit card. -- My mistake: I should have asked him the name of the medication I was picking up. -- His mistake: He should have checked with me to make sure I was picking up the right medication. 3. He asked if I wanted the pharmacist to advise me on the medication, and I said yes. So he brought me over to the consultation area (which is basically just a swinging half door). -- Note: He did not let me touch the bag. He placed it on the door in a manner that made me think I was not supposed to handle it. 4. The pharmacist came over, looked inside the bag at the label, and told me that I need to take the medication with food, 3x a day. -- My mistake: This totally sounds like how you would advise someone to take an antibiotic. I am here to pick up painkillers. This made me suspicious, but I clearly wasn't thinking and did not question it. -- Her mistake: She should have told me the name of the medication and type, clarifying that I am indeed there for the correct medication/consult. -- Also, what kind of consultation just tells you to take with food, 3x a day? I can read that for myself! 5. I leave the pharmacy area, and it is at this time that I open the bag to check the label. I do not recognise the name of the medication, so then I Google it to see if maybe they were giving me a generic one. And that is when I found out my medication is an antibiotic and not a painkiller. 6. I go back in line for the pickup counter and let the lady know what happened. Alas, she tells me that CVS policy is not to take back any medications that have left the pharmacy and that she cannot make any exceptions. Her mananger is not in today so no one can help me. Fault also lies with my dentist's office, who called in the wrong prescription. Everybody is wrong! But I do think it's pretty bad that at no point during my prescription medication pickup did anyone bother to confirm with me what I was actually picking up. I acknowledge that I have fault in this. But so do the staff at the CVS pharmacy tonight. And because they are professionals, I find their mistake to be more disappointing than my own. So... does anyone need antibiotics? ;) (Just kidding!
