o2.16.2o23 Review on the Pharmacy, Pharmacists: I used to like this CVS a lot esp I lived nearby. I printed hundreds of photos for my scrapbook and got all the prescriped medications here. Clearly, things have changed, like flipped upside down. Probably evenryone's new. I wasn't going to make a big deal of this, but customer service means everything to me right now. I, myself, have been in customer services for 10+ years and had mentioned in other reviews. Customers aren't always right when they're not being reasonable. Maybe to them, I was not being reasonable here but heck! After a long day of work, I am here picking up some allergy medicines for my kid. The pharmacy had the signs at the very top with Consultation on the left and Pick-Up on the right. I lined up on the right which that's what I was there for. This smart ass pharmacist goes and lectured me I was in the wrong line doubting I was the next person in line, while the other person even told him I was there first. I pointed out their sign and this pharmacist, Mr. K argued with me, yeah well, it should be on this side. Yeah well, why don't YOU go fix your damn sign! Not only that, that standing sign with maintaining 6ft apart was also right in the middle. They moved it before I went back to take the pic. Now it's on the left just there for show. Then he told me it's not ready for pick up and wasn't even able to tell me why the medication wasn't ready. He directed me to the Drop Off area and someone will assist me. Not even a spirit was there to assist me. After a couple minutes, another pharmacist noticed me and asked if I had a question. So she proceed to check the system and told me it wasn't covered by insurance but I can purchase it over the counter. She was nice enough to show me where it was but nope, they didn't even carry it. We actually had the doctor print out the prescription order that was sent to this pharmacy, it had two medications on it. I went back to ask her if neither of them were covered and she said she only remembered seeing one. Well, thank goodness I had proof to show her otherwise they would think I am the crazy one again. Does anyone do their job right in this location? It's pretty clear why this CVS has such low rating. Just look at all other low reviews. Pretty much all bc of the pharmacy section. Then again, it is called CVS PHARMACY. Thank you, Yelp, for letting my angers out so I don't cause a scene in person and make others look stupid. Usually, I kinda like this CVS, but today there's a lady that kept on wanting me to use self checkout. I said, "it's okay". I figure I'm next in line. She kept on telling me to go to it even though I decline. Also, kept telling me what to do when I already wasn't feeling it. I told her I have I a coupon I wanted to use, so I like to be at the register with a cashier. She kept telling me to do this and do that. It was SOOOOO annoying. When it came out to less than a dollar due, she instructed me to drop the coins in, which I don't have. Freaking...that's precisely why I wanted to be at the cash register. It was more hassle than it needs to be with unpleasant vibes and a ton of annoyance. The only reason I gave it a 2 star instead of 1 is because the cashier dude was great. He wanted to ring me up as I lined I correctly. There was a guy that waited longer than I have, but line up wrong. I let the other dude go first. Maybe I shouldn't be so nice and I wouldn't ran into the issue afterwards. Also, giving the annoying lady benefit if the doubt that she was trying to help despite her methods weren't the best. read more

Check your receipts before you leave CVS Pharmacy near city hall. Since I do email receipts, I didn't notice the discrepancy until I got the email. Advertised on sale at $21.99 and charged 39.99 I went back to explain the discrepancy and Johnny, the supervisor, said there was nothing that could be done because of federal liquor laws - i guess he's not familiar with overcharging and not honoring sale prices as labeled on the aisle. A call on file with corporate and I've been instructed to call back tomorrow when Credit dept is open. Regardless if the item # matches up, the tag was under the item and they should honor it or at least accept a refund. I have never worked retail and don't know what the numbers and crap aside from price are for. Plus I'm 5 feet and that was on the top shelf. Today I and my friend went to cvs on Wilcox and via campo to get some stuff.i pick up to bays if takis kettles.i thought they were the same,she pick up some feminine pads.so we pay and my friend used her coupons.when we got to the car I noticed I picked up the wrong bag of takis so she went back to change them..she went to the same cashier that had charged us for them .my friend explained to her what happened and the cashier didn't belive her.she said we had not paid for those.i think that when she scanned them she scanned one of the bags twice that's why it didn't show the right product.my friend had to pay for another bag because the cashier didn't want to exchange it.i felt so bad for my friend, I think the cashier thought y friend had stolen it.I didn't go with my friend to exchange them. I stayed in the car .but if I had gone I would had asked for the manager. And ask them to go check the car to see if she was lying.i don't think we will be going to that store anymore.i just want to advice people to always check your receipts inside the stores before you leave. The absolute worst pharmacy in Monterey Park. First of all, what kind of big chain pharmacy closes at 6? Second, that drive thru window doesn't seem to have set hours. They close early and make you go in if they don't feel like opening. Third, they have no clue what the CVS app or website says. I showed them my meds should have been ordered according to the app and they shrug their shoulders. Lastly, they say they contacted your doctor to refill prescriptions. They never call. They wait until you call your doctor. I'm going to need meds trying to deal with this pharmacy. Take your prescriptions somewhere else. read more

I've been a customer for years and have always experienced hardworking knowledgeable pharmacists, that will communicate concerns regarding my rx. Even if I use insurance or coupons, they willl take the time to help me find the best options to save money. I feel this review is long overdue because I can always count that they will resolve any of my questions, they follow up when something needs additional authorization or call me in person to let me know it will take longer for something to arrive. I just had my prescription filled here . Guys please be careful the pharmacy will cheat you . My Dr. prescribed a 60 gram of cream instead they ( the pharmacist) decided to only fill 15 gram of it . They Give me option to do refill and have me pay more copay !!! Upon checking with my Dr. I realized they did not give me enough medication. The pharmacy take it upon themselves to give you what they think it's enough . When I went to confront the pharmacist ( male ) raised his voice and said the Dr. did not put down the amount ! I asked to have him print out the prescription and that was when they agree to give me my missing portion. This is not the way to conduct business . We trust our neighborhood pharmacy to take of our health and instead they fail to give me enough medication to make me healthy !!! read more

The girlfriend went in to pick something up and the cashier explained she should upgrade her CVS rewards card to an ExtraCare card. The cashier explained all the benefits including $5.00 off purchases every month. Sounded good so she did it. Days later, she saw that they charged her credit card $10.00. She went back to the store and they told her that yeah, it's $10 per month. She explained she was never told that by the cashier that signed her up, and she wouldn't have if she had known. They told her there was nothing they could do and she should call the mothership to cancel. She tried that and of course, they never answer the phone on the mothership. So she called her CC bank and apparently, it's common now for companies to charge your card monthly and have no way for you to get in touch to have them stop, so the CC banks put a stop to it for you. She's now done with CVS. I, on the other hand, in my previous review, complained about the bad service I got from CVS and said I was switching to Walgreens. After calling Walgreens, it became evident that I would have the same experience as the one I had at CVS. So I found 986 Pharmacy on Atlantic Blvd., it's about a 3 minute drive from this CVS. They were friendly and helpful so I switched my monthly prescription to them. I've been there for months (since my last review) and they automatically have the prescription ready on the 1st day of the month, I just go by and pick it up - I don't have to call it in every month and there's no 15-20 minute wait in line to pick it up like at CVS. And guess what? They're super friendly and helpful in person as well as on the phone. A couple times they needed to check on my prescription or my insurance and you won't believe this - they got it taken care of AND CALLED ME BACK to tell me so. Thank you CVS for pissing me off enough to switch to a small pharmacy (it looks like they have 5 locations) that has personal, family style service like you don't get much of any more. read more

In all my years of shopping at CVS, my morning's experience at this location out ranks them all. The location I regular at doesn't open till 10AM on Sundays so I decided to give this one a try since they were open at 7AM. Their wonderful associate (Dominic) was extra helpful, friendly/approachable and willing to go the distance to keep shoppers happy. I plan to frequent this location from now on. This store actually carries more items than the one in Rosemead so that's a double plus in my book. read more

The lack of communication and empathy between the consumer and the pharmacy staff is incredibly low. I understand that we are in the pandemic, but it goes both ways. Thus I don't understand why CVS does not hire more staff. Overall, I was at their mercy for almost 3 hours. Being between one window to the next and back just for a label change then being asked to wait to the side and "someone would be with me shortly". On two occasions I had to wait. On two occasions, I was sadly ignored/forgotten. Such a horrible way to treat people. I am a diabetic and had told the staff I needed to eat too. So I survived by grabbing a protein drink to hold me down while this ordeal went on. One good point though somewhat hesitant was the pharmacist calling the doctor to get our order straight. Like I said... 3 hour wait just to purchase two medical items. :( read more

I have been going to this CVS for years, it's up the street from my house and has a drive thru for the pharmacy. I like the pharmacy, except they close the drive thru 15 minutes before the posted sign says so take that into consideration. My reason for the review is because we are currently in a pandemic and there was a customer ordering a large amount of wine walking through the store without a facemask. Wearing a facemask is currently the LAW and mandatory anytime you are out and with people. There were many signs prior to entering the cvs. The problem is the CVS staff did not tell the gentleman he should return when he had a mask. The customer knew he was wrong, he was holding his shirt over his mouth like this would help or something. The safety of all customers not just the opportunity to make money off a large purchase should be first. I did not feel safe at this CVS. I think they are seriously understaffed or just too busy with orders. Well, if they are too busy with orders I guess that means they are understaffed? I've been going to this for a couple of years now and had to stop because every time I call them, I am on hold for 15+ minutes. A lot of times they tell you that the medicine will be ready at a certain time (was told in advance) but when I go get it, they tell me it's not ready yet and say it will be an hour or so because there are other refills in front of me. So I have to wait there because by the time I go home and come back it will be an hour and a waste of gas. Please visit another cvs for your pharmaceutical needs if you can! Review for the pharmacy department. Let me tell you, I have worked in SEVERAL CVS pharmacies before. And coming with that knowledge and experience, this one just sucks. I have been here multiple times for my prescriptions and the service is always disappointing. The only reason I come to CVS is their ease of transferring prescriptions from one store to another. Unfortunately, this is the closest CVS to me. But let me elaborate on SEVERAL of my pharmacy experiences. (1) I patiently waited in the drop-off line as the intern was helping another customer. As soon as she was done with that customer, she did not acknowledge me. Let me reiterate that I worked in a CVS and they emphasized that you MUST acknowledge customers. If you're busy, say "sir/ma'am, we'll be right with you". NOPE, didn't happen. She ignored me for a good 5-10 minutes before "helping" me. (2) With my pharmacy experience, I can goddamn read my own prescriptions. My doctor wrote for a cream 60 gm with 2 refills. What do I get? A 30 gm with 0 refills. Thanks for shorting me. When I asked them to clarify, they said it was 0 refills. I requested that prescription be transferred to a different store because I was out of town. They said it was 0 refills so I told them to double check the original. Then they said my prescription had TWELVE refills. What??? I'm pretty sure I didn't see TWELVE on my ORIGINAL prescription. Where did those come from? And then my doctor told me they sent in a refill request for that prescription. So that's TWO MORE refills. These guys should be reported for making up lies. (3) Another intern wasted my time. I brought in a prescription for a drug to which they didn't have in stock. Then she asked me if I wanted to go somewhere else that had it in stock. She called several CVS's in the area and she found some (this took about 30 minutes). And then what? She tells me it's not covered. First of all, run the prescription through. If it's NOT covered, tell me that first. If it IS covered and you DIDN'T have it in stock, tell me you can order it and when you would likely get shipment for it OR tell me which stores carry it. It shouldn't be reversed. (4) For said prescription above, my doctor eventually changed it to something they did have. This was when I noticed they are such sloppy workers. My meds came individually packaged and instead of placing them into a prescription bottle (to keep them organized/childproof, etc.), they placed it into their paper bags and slapped the label on top. SO LAZY. I don't know who trained these people but these workers suck. I worked in several different CVS and NONE of them were as crappy or sloppy as this one and they were BUSIER. read more

Save your money people and go to Costco pharmacy, my prescription at cvs was about $11 for 30 day supply, I switched to Costco pharmacy and it's now $13 for 90 day supply. Also make sure to provide them your insurance card, the girl charged me full price even tho I had insurance. read more

As many of you have pointed out, there are always long lines. Well, don't be fooled. They have plenty of staff. Just take a look around and see how many of them are just prancing around the floor stocking shelves, because they don't want to deal with people. There's only one person at the register at all times unless the lines get so long they call for a second cashier. Personally, I think there should be two cashiers at all times. Lines get even longer when one cashier is answering a call, processing photos or who knows what. This location has a little more products than other smaller Cvs locations, as well as a bathroom. There are no lottery machines. You only redeem existing tickets. In general, products are always over priced at cvs. I personally recommend you buy products on sale only, or products that give out coupons and extra bucks, then do separate transactions to redeem these coupons immediately after. You'll sometimes get things dirt cheap or free. Bring a friend with another card or phone number (if they don't mind). you'll get even more coupons per separate transaction. The pharmacy is efficient. Usually out within a reasonable time. Overall I highly recommend buying your basic things elsewhere like Walmart or amazon. Only come here for coupons or something quick. It's nice since they open quite late in case better places like Walmart are closed. read more

The pharmacy can be very slow. Which would not be so bad if they didn't give such bad ETAs. For example the other day they told me the prescription would be done in an hour, I came back 1 hour and 45 minutes later to be safe, and its still not ready. I was told to wait there and they will call my name when the prescription is ready. Protip: they will never call you. They have told me this on multiple visits, each time I sat in the seat and waited for them to call my name which does not happen. You have to reenter the line and ask them again and hope its ready that time. read more

This is my go-to convenient store. Prices seem to be higher but they have what I need. The managers I've seen here are personable and always step in to help when the lines get long. I find joy in using the coupon machine they have but sometimes it's out of order and they aren't able to fix it. I've used the photo print service. It was painless and pretty quick. The service is SLOW. TOO SLOW. Waited an hour to get a flu shot. The pharmacy staff needs to work more efficiently because they didn't look understaff at all. There were only 3 people (including myself) waiting for that at the time. Completely unacceptable. Not to mention I've made an appointment online, filled out all the paperwork online as well.
