Pharmacy service is efficient and courteous; however it is a beehive. Unfortunately, the floor staff has much to be desired. I've witnessed rudeness towards customers. The lines at both the pharmacy and regular checkout are almost always long, increasing wait time. There is a dire need for more staff. The website doesn't accurately reflect what is in stock. This happens quite often. I go to there because the website says the store has it and then and it is not on the shelves. This store is severely understaffed and the shelves are always bare. Sometimes you get lucky if you go when the store first opens. Many things are locked and you have to wait 5+ minutes for a sales associate to open the case. The pharmacy is a chaotic mess and you have to wait at least 30 minutes even if your Dr called in your RX. Its never "ready" when you go to pick it up. I've switched all of my prescriptions to Rite Aid even though this CVS location is convenient. I only shop here because it is very close to me and I'm too lazy to drive to the Avenue U store which I prefer. The Avenue U store is always well stocked no matter when I shop. Don't shop here if you are pressed for time or unwilling to substitute items for what you really want/need. read more

Like most large chain stores, this CVS subscribes to the postal service customer service model, leaving multiple cashier stations empty, with 1 young teenage employee left to put up with confused and emotionally fatigued customers who are irritated by the failings of the flawed self-checkout machines. Yes, you are punished by capitalism with anything you can tief being under lock with long waits to find an employee to unlock your deodorant safety deposit box. The storied pharmacy lines will age you so you are contemplating the nearby shelves' hair dye to cover the gray hairs spurred by the stress the line wait has brought on, invariably behind someone talking loudly on speaker phone about their personal business you do not need to hear, and may they not be complaining about a recent wrongdoing, since that will set them up for more drama at the counter when they finally reach it. Watch out, mama! When you finally squeeze past the worker unpacking the tall stack of plastic cargo crates at the end cap that seem to never contain the hydrogen peroxide that is absent from the dusty bottom shelf in the pick-up line, you will be asked for your identifying name and birth date by the indifferent dogla who is chewing gum and shaking in place, bobbing up and down like he's been sampling the Adderall, washed down with a 6-pack of Monster caffeine drinks. He never seldom looks up at you as he continues gossiping with his coworkers, as most of the clerks do. As you can experience in most cheap retail, they aren't paid enough to provide proper customer service, and kissing your ass costs a lot more, so it's expected. But those big plastic cargo crates left out for days on Parkside Ave can supplement the shortcomings of the store when you borrow them to pack when moving to your new apartment in the Vanderveer because gentrification is forcing you out once again. Why can't rich white people bring a reasonable chain pharmacy experience with them as they invade Flatbush? Do their $3,050/month studios at 210 Clarkson Ave have a built in drug store to go with their anemic on-site gym? As others noted, with Kings County Hospital around the corner, there are plenty of independent pharmacies nearby, almost 1 per block down Nostrand Ave, from Parkside Ave to Linden Blvd. Michael's Famasi on Linden and Wojez is so local, their sign is in Haitian Kreyol. I received a text saying my script was ready, so I went directly to CVS. It only took me five minutes to arrive. When I got there, the prescription window was closed for 30 minutes and I had to wait. When I mentioned the confusing text message to a clerk, she had a really rude tone, informing me that the pharmacy always closes from 1:30 - 2pm & it's "on the site". Now, why would I check the site, when I received a text telling me my script's ready? They should include this info in their auto texts, or not send "script is ready" auto texts right before they close. The rude attitude was unappreciated. read more

Their systems are always down! I come here frequently to pick up my a prescription and it seems like they rarely have it together. The line is usually lengthy within the aisle that the line forms. The staff is not the friendliest people. Your best bet is to go to Family Dollar or Target for toiletries and supermarket items. Despite having a buy one get another for 50% off sale often, you don't get much of a discount unless you have a CVS card. I come here reluctantly and love the rare occasions where I'm in and out. They recently incorporated a couple of self check out machines but I personally like to get checked out by an actual retail worker. read more

CVS is a staple in my neighborhood. Times are different now so I can't always find what I need but that's everywhere! The one thing that stands out here are their employees. I've had some great interactions with them. They have always been kind and friendly. Even now, they are there, risking their safety as essential workers. Even though I can't see their smile, I know it's there, behind the mask! They help me when I can't find something and the only gripe I have is sometimes they're short of staff so lines can be long. Quite frankly I'm surprised they post their phone number when they NEVER answer. I mean you will be on hold until time immemorial waiting to speak to pharmacy staff. The pharmacy lines are always long and it's always a a 15 minute wait. I never have issues when I use a CVS in the city. This is simply the worst CVS in existence...but it's a means to an end for people that live in this community so it is what it is. read more

Felicia at the pharmacy is terrible, I picked up my elderly neighbors prescription and I was also making a purchase, she asked if I wanted a receipt and I stated yes.. she didn't reply so I said yes a receipt. She continued ringing my purchase and didn't reply so I figured the prescription would be on that receipt, it was not. so I said to her "I asked for a receipt for the prescription and I said it several times". She proceeds to ask me "how could you say it several times if I only asked you once?" I'm like because you didn't reply so I repeated it.. she goes "oh well, it's gone now" just nasty and snarky comments. Clearly she didn't want to be at work. I get it miscommunication happens and so do mistakes but delivery is everything. A simple "my apologies, I must not have heard you, but unfortunately I can no longer print it" would of been sufficient. read more

Not sure how this location is still open. A boycott should be organized to request better service or to have it close. Not sure if corporate knows what's going on at this location or if they don't care due to the demographics of the neighborhood. However, whether they are aware or not, shame on you. This is the first pharmacy, CVS, that takes a siesta. It's a busy location so hello hire more help. Some people can only pick up their medication during your siesta. This CVS is highly understaffed and the workers are not pleasant because it's obvious they are overworked. One of the employees behind the pharmacy counter, a white male, has the nastiest attitude. Patrons are coming to your pharmacy to pick up medication and are already suffering enough because they are sick. There are a lot of options for this place: 1. Close down and save people the headache for the incompetence. 2. Hire more employees. It's clear the store is understaffed. 3. Regroup and start from scratch. A sickly person should not have to wait 1 hour or longer for their medication. And the most common problem encountered here is the pharmacy telling you they can't find your medication. Now you have to leave the long ass pick-up line and go on the long ass consultation line. There are always bins on the floors stocked with items and not emptied. This is a managerial fail and corporate fail. Don't open stores if you are unable to provide the services needed. Time is something no one can get back. read more

If you're bored and want to see what Dante was writing about in the Inferno, you should drop by this CVS to experience one of the circles of hell. I can confirm many of the problems posted by other reviewers here, like the fact that the phones are never answered and there always seems to be an unexplainable supply issue with the medication you need. I tried SIX times to pick up a prescription and eventually gave up and transferred to another pharmacy. I think my favorite memory from visiting this CVS is when I looked the pharmacy tech straight in the eye and said "you realize that I'm going to go into medical withdrawal if you can't help me fill this prescription for at least a day, right?" and the tech just stared at me and shrugged. I filed a complaint with the city about them, so hopefully something gets done soon :) read more

It has actually gotten worse. Now they take 3-10 days to fill prescriptions. If you try to call to get it filled faster, they don't pick up the phone. If you go in person to try to get it sooner, they take 20-60 minutes to fill it. This has been going on for the last six months. I also just listened to them tell two different people who showed up for their COVID vax appointments that they're out of the vax and "might" have some tomorrow. They told one of the folks to make a new appointment and come back. The guy said, "Well, can I call before coming since next time you didn't tell me this time before I came?" The pharmacy department is not very efficient. Not sure if there are staffing issues. No one ever answers the phone. You have to physically go in to rectify any issues after standing on lengthy lines. Pharmacy closes for a half hour everyday so that the ENTIRE DEPT can go on break. Not sure why the breaks are not staggered. CVS needs to do better so that the phones are answerEd and customers ( elderly and pregnant) are not standing on lengthy lines. The rest of the store is pretty much stocked. Customers are encouraged to use self check out most of the time. The assistant by self check out is often very helpful. read more

However, outside of that, they often don't have my parents meds ready...although I receive a text that says it is. A few times they have been out of things like alcohol pads and diabetic test strips, which I would think should be on hand at all times. The problem with this pharmacy is in order to get many prescriptions filled you have to call pharmacy and they hardly ever pick up the phone. So you end up spending hours on hold trying to reach the pharmacy. I have tried for days to get a hold of the pharmacy and I still cant reach them. And many times I get disconnected. This is really bad and can really put some patients in danger who need their prescriptions like right away for very serious things. So CVS really needs to think about how they are managing this place and the fact that it isn't ethical what they are doing. read more

I would like to go to my CVS on 1251 Nostrand Ave and have a great experience for once. Why is the CVS on 42nd, and 3rd Ave give excellent service, shouldn't it be the same across the board? Every time I go to pick up medication it's is either it's not ready and I have to wait 15 mins for it to be fill, mine you I called it in and got a call that it was ready, or it says you picked it up already. This has to be the slowest pharmacy on the planet. I ordered the refill on Friday Jan 31 and the email sent to me said the meds would be ready Feb 1 at 9am. I called the pharmacy at 5pm to let them know I was sending someone to pick it up and she tells me they're working on it. Needless to say they were not ready when she got there to pick up the meds. They told her they were closing in 15 minutes and would not be ready. It's not like they have to make the medication so I don't get why it takes more than 24 hrs to process a refill. On another note, the white guy they decided to hire to work there is an asshole. Not sure who thought it was a good idea to put a white guy to deal with a predominantly black neighborhood and he has no customer service skills whatsoever. I foresee someone adjusting that attitude for him. Let him continue to be nasty. read more

Pharmacy service is terrible! They always forget something in my prescriptions. It also takes them so long to order a medication that is out of stock. They don't call you to tell you that your prescription is delayed and that you will have to wait forever for your medications. Completely staffed with incompetents. For a single prescription I had to sit in traffic THREE TIMES for them NOT to fill a prescription. 1) They did not have it in stock...FAIL #1 2) They told me it would be in 4 days later. It did not come in and they did not bother to call... FAIL #2 3) When I picked up a prescription they did have in stock the first trip, I used a coupon. I specifically asked if I needed to bring the prescription in and they told me "no it is on the computer". True to form it was NOT in the computer and they tried to charge me $212 for prescription which $45 on the coupon. FAIL #3 Complete idiots that do not give a rat's ass when they fill a prescription. I was told to come back in 30 mins to pickup my prescription. So I went back 35 minutes later because I am a generous person with my time. My prescriptions were still not ready and was made to wait an additional 40 mins. So all together, I waited a hour and 10 mins for a service I was told would take 30 mins on a not so busy morning I might add. read more
