What a great seafood restaurant! Greenpoint Fish & Lobster has a fresh seafood counter to purchase items as well as a full restaurant. Be sure to make a reservation, as this spot is popular, especially on a nice weekend. We recently had a weekend brunch at one of the tables outside. Everything on the menu sounded good, but we decided on a couple of their specials. Started with the razor clams, which were cooked perfectly and topped with fresh herbs. We also had the fried soft shell crab sandwich with the side of Caesar salad. The sandwich was well balanced with the crunchy crab and herby aioli. The Caesar was light and refreshing. The fish and chips came with two fried filets of white fish and a basket of classic fries. The fish was lightly battered and flakey. The house made tartar sauce was a good complement to it. I'm so torn about this review. The food was pretty good but the full experience truly lacked I wish I could give another half a star. Going to Greenpoint Fish and Lobster on a weekend is truly a mission. If you don't have a reservation chances are you'll be waiting around for a long time. They estimated 30min wait and it turned out to be over an hour. We were ready to walk away 3 times but ended up sticking around as we were promised we were third on the list meanwhile more than 3 parties were seated before us (strange!). Once we were seated, we ordered right away having had time to look at the menu while waiting. Crudo, dozen of oysters, clam chowder + lobster roll. - Crudo was a bit sad with 6 pieces of fish lying on a big plate with an insane amount of salt flakes. It was fresh but don't think it's worth ordering. - East coast oysters were puny. Very mid especially because I've recently tried some at Upstate that were amazing. They're incomparable. - Lobster roll. Okay should've just gone straight for the roll because it was perfect. Buttery and fresh with perfect balance of lobster roll bread. The salad dressing also was delicious. So good! Definitely highlight of this restaurant. - Clam chowder. Also 10/10. Hearty, flavorful. Loved every bite of it. Service was average. They weren't profoundly interested in giving best service instead just chatting amongst each other and dropping off plates. Also they forgot about the clam chowder we ordered and asked if we still want it.. YES..that's why we ordered it. I came in a large group, and we were able to try a bunch of food, and everything was great. - The crab cakes were amazing, especially when paired with their slightly tangy aioli. - The green curry mussels had great flavor, and I loved dipping the bread in the sauce. - The seafood paella was stellar, and both the hot and cold lobster rolls were among the best I've ever had. - The fried scallops were surprisingly great. I've never had anything like that before, but they were crispy on the outside and nice and tender on the inside. - The raw oysters and ceviche were also very good. My only complaint is that this place is quite expensive, but you do get what you pay for in terms of quality, and the portion size was decent. After a long hiatus I return to the local lobster roll spot. Now it's functioning as a full service restaurant, taking reservations and has outdoor seating. What a step up from the fish market seating of years ago! Lobster roll with fries 40$... standard lobster roll pricing throughout NYC GIVE OR TAKE A DOLLAR ... and definitely worth it since it's within walking distance. I had the buttered lobster roll... minus a star for the room temp of the lobster... I would have preferred it hot with butter as it's usually served elsewhere. However the buttered toasted roll was superb!!! Light crisp, buttery and not too heavy. Also double tuna burger with salad 28$ was a hit, amazing aioli type dressing and salad as an option. Not sure if I'd return for pasta (was not el dente and a bit overcooked), but this is definitely a place to go to for clams, oysters, lobster rolls, and fish and chips. It's a very cozy restaurant with a separate store front to purchase raw seafood. There's perhaps about 6-10 bar seats, and maybe 7 tables tops. The lobster rolls and fish and chips were executed extremely well, and we even got to watch our food being freshly cooked/prepared in front of us. Definitely will return! read more

Been wanting to come to this place for a while. Finally got here and it certainly didn't disappoint. Pretty decent size crowd flowing in and out. Food is really fresh and flavorful - not too salty! Really wanted the spicy salmon burger but they were sold out. On my list to try is their pot pie made with their fish of the day. Signs of a good place when a pot pie order will take 30min plus (made to order and made fresh). Only thing missing would be if this place also had a full bar. Beer, wine and soft drinks are a plenty. My go to's here are the oysters, shrimp cocktail, fried scallops (off menu) and the tuna burger. The seafood is always fresh and they have happy hour every day until 6pm which includes $2 oysters and beer/wine specials. Really great spot! I came here to celebrate a birthday and the waitress made it such a special experience. Food was awesome. We did the oysters, crudo, shrimp cocktail, lobster bisque and the whole lobster. Everything was excellent. They did a touch of olive oil and salt on the crudo and the shrimp and it blew my mind. One of my absolute favorite seafood spots in New York I honestly love this place it's become a go-to for me and my girlfriend. We came by on a Friday around 5 p.m. and tried all the specials for the day, plus some oysters. Everything was incredible. The seafood here always tastes super fresh and flavorful you can tell they really care about the quality and taste of their dishes. Greenpoint Fish & Lobster have long been on my radar. I was meeting friends for dinner and we decided to meet here. The dining room is tiny and that's one of the negatives of the spot. It's not really conducive for a leisurely and lingering dinner with friends. On the other hand the food was very good. Excellent quality and very delicious even though it's a bit on the pricey side. I'd say 3.5 stars. If they got a bigger space and it was a more comfortable experience I'd round up to 4. read more

Love the midday happy hour deal here! For $2 each you get high quality oysters, incredibly flavorful and more fresh than most other oyster happy hours. Seating is a bit tight but in the summer they open up the patio which has a chill vibe and a great place to relax with a few drinks and seafood. You must get the scallop! It's so fresh - just add a squeeze of lemon and the chives that are hiding under the roe. The roe is the star of the show - it is lightly seared so there is a chew but the inside just melts in your mouth. I would come back just for this scallop dish. The oysters are fun to try and freshly shucked to order! They rotate the type of oysters - we were lucky and got to try the "fat bastard" oysters which was plump and juicy. Inside has a few tables with a really nice space, but the majority of their seating is outdoors. Service was quick and attentive! Happy hour is from 12-6PM but for the drinks is only 4PM. I got 2 glasses of Muscadet, 1/2 dozen of east oysters and 1/2 dozen of clams. Also got cup of small chowder.
