I've lived in this neighborhood for over twenty years. The woman behind the counter at the pharmacy section (Rose) is rude, impatient and a good enough reason to avoid this place at all cost. She is a disrespectful, snarky and a miserable individual. Rose has been consistently terrible for the entire time in which I've been a customer at this establishment. I'm fully convinced that rose stopped giving a f about this job and her hair in 1987. If providing me with my prescriptions is so burdensome then I encourage her to find new employment or at the very least scrap together the lowest level of human decency one expects and hopes to encounter in a public setting. The only shred of kindness I have ever been shown by this woman was one Halloween in which she gave me a single stale caramel chew. I have no doubt she was attempting to give me a cavity. read more

Pharmacist made a major mistake with my medications milligrams, refused to acknowledge the mistske,which could have been detrimental to my health and then proceeded to become rude and threw the money at me when I asked for a refund. After 30 years of trying to payronize a local business. Beware of this pharmacy!! read more

Worst pharmacy I've ever encountered. The older woman who works there is rudest person. The pharmacy doesn't inform you if you need a refill or when your refill is ready or communicate at all with your doctor or yourself. i wouldn't use them if they were the last pharmacy in Brooklyn. Went in today and no one was properly wearing a mask. The pharmacist was preparing orders without a mask. The woman at the pharmacy counter had her nose uncovered while she waited on a frail elderly man. Both other customers had their masks only over their mouths, but the pharmacy staff ignored it. I asked them why they were not wearing masks properly and they reacted with anger. I told them I was moving my prescriptions and they said "good." That is the thanks I get for having gone out of my way to move my prescriptions to a small local business. read more

I recently had the worst experience I've ever had at any pharmacy here, maybe even as a customer in general anywhere. I had rushed my cat to the ER earlier that day and she was diagnosed with diabetes & was in diabetic ketoasidosis. This means she needed to start regimented insulin treatments immediately or she could go into shock and die. I don't have a regular pharmacy so I went to Prospect as it's closest to my apartment and I needed to fulfill the prescription ASAP. I was not only received extremely rudely off the bat by a woman with long grey hair, but a male pharmacist (younger, white with an accent) did not agree with what was prescribed from my vet and refused to fill the prescription. I then spent hours coordinating a conversation between him and the vet to which there was some kind of miscommunication between them. I was facilitating as if I was his assistant. I finally went back in after receiving a call from my vet that he had agreed to fill the prescription, but when I got there he laughed in my face when I told him and still refused. Mind you my cat was literally dying and he knew very well that she needed the insulin immediately--I had tears in my voice and was practically begging. He did this in front of many other customers watching, by the way. I maintained my composure and simply left. I'd like to note I was nothing but polite during all interactions. At this point I'd wasted hours trying to get this done and it was late in the day-- luckily enough I was able to book it to Walgreens on Myrtle where I had an extremely pleasant experience as they happily filled the prescription. ADDITIONAL COVID NOTE: No one was wearing their mask when I walked in. No one -- all staff had it around their necks or chins. These are PHARMACISTS who are interacting with vulnerable people all day long. Mind-boggling. I go out of my way to support fort greene and CH locals, but this is one local business that I'd SKIP for incompetence and rudeness. They are in the wrong line of work. read more

I completely erased from my memory having been to this pharmacy until I came to write a review and saw my previous review from six years ago. Here are some bullet points from my latest experience (had to come in for a flu shot, as Walgreens was out and they said this place had some left): - This place still has the worst customer service (waited 7+ minutes to be looked at or spoken with -- with no one else in line. Nobody bothered asking "How can I help?") - I saw one person getting her flu shot in the back, but then for some reason, two people afterward got their flu shots out in front of the counter area with increasingly larger crowds (the lady named Rose was yelling at everybody to socially distance themselves at the same time...what a mess). It takes like a minute for someone to walk into the back for a flu shot. C'mon guys, have some professionalism. - The pharmacist seemed hurried and frantic. I saw the pharmacist forget a bandage after administering a flu shot in the front, asked the patient to hold a cotton ball on her arm where the shot was administered, then go back into the back-of-house to get a bandage, and came back with only his bare hands (no gloves) to open the bandage and put the bandage on the patient. Isn't this unsanitary? What a mess!!! read more

STAY AWAY. PRICE GOUGING WITHOUT SHAME! Called to make sure they had at home Binax covid test, they confirmed MANY were in stock. Arrived to not only to witness many people in line squeezed together, but at pharmacy counter, people crowded elbow to elbow waiting for services (all were wearing masks). Got to front and asked for Binax test, a large pile sitting right behind woman attending, was informed it's $50!!! I said they're $23 everywhere else, rude and utterly dismissive lady said, "well, go buy everywhere else, I don't care, NEXT!". Plain and simple, shows the level of care and compassion one can expect not only during a worldwide pandemic, but obviously on any given day. They are not here to serve the neighborhood, only their pockets. read more

Sure, Rose can be a grouch. But she cares deeply about what she does and the store is small and gets busy easily. I wish they were open more often, but all of my pickups have been speedy and accurate, and if they are missing insurance info or something they call me beforehand so I don't waste my time at the store. A great option in an area badly served by pharmacies. read more

I live a block away from Prospect Drugs and have been coming here since I moved here over three years ago. I first went because it was conveniently located - I still go because this place is top notch. Rose - who works in the pharmacy - is AMAZING. If she sees me walk in, my medication is ready for me on the counter by the time I get back there. She's incredibly friendly and helpful. All the people who work behind the scenes at the pharmacy are also great. read more

Been going to this drug store for years but they have been slipping. All about supporting the local pharmacy but they make you want to go somewhere else. In fact, I do but my mother still gets her medicine her but she tired of them. One time the doctor since the wrong dosage of a prescription and they didn't check it in the system against her other prescriptions. Good thing my mother noticed because I'd be own my own and a definite law suit would happen. She fills all here prescriptions here and they use to check. Come on pharmacy keep up with the times. NOTORIOUS for partial prescriptions talking about I OWE YOU. What if I don't want to come back but now I have to because you owe me meds. If you told me in the 1st place I would have taken my prescriptions elsewhere from jump or ask me if thats even okay, don't make that call on your own. read more

This is the worst pharmacy I have ever been to. The woman at the pharmacy counter is stubborn, rude, rolls her eyes a lot, and sighs constantly. Like, I feel like I have to apologize for asking to pick up a prescription. Last month she told me good rx would not save me more money than my insurance, although I use it every time. It was more than twice the cost. This month when I went back for it, same story and she wouldn't let me use it again. The pharmacist initially said he'd charge me that price in cash, cash?? What kind of hustle is this? So I go back, this time with my boyfriend who works in healthcare, and the woman at the pharmacy is unpleasant as usual. She honest to god yelled at someone for asking for their prescription. I will never be back to this place and I advise everyone to avoid the hassle here and go somewhere else. She's supremely unpleasant. A simple "hello" and you're welcome" goes a long way in customer service.... read more

My medication has always been accurate. During this time of Covid you can use the website to renew prescriptions. You feel safe when going to Prospect Drugs. read more

I wanted to like this place because it's so close to my apartment, and it's a small local business. However, it's just not worth the trouble. On a Saturday morning, I went in to buy some basic cleaning supplies. (They do not stock Mr. Clean Magic Eraser which is pretty basic.) Instead, I just bought paper towels (with no clear pricing), bags for recycling, and some air freshener. I was the only customer in the store after 11am, and the proprietor made a point of pretending to study something in the same aisle about 3 feet away from me after I came in. As soon as I moved, he moved as well. In other words, I had the unmistakable feeling that I was being watched because he thought I came in to steal his lousy old dusty items. At checkout, I almost said something (since I live a block away), but I thought I would just warn the public and never come back myself. I grew up dealing with this sort of thing all the time, and while it's never crossed my mind to take anything from a store without paying for it, I learned now that the best way to deal with this is to buy my stuff elsewhere. read more

Love the staff of this pharmacy. I've been going here for years now. When I call in my prescription and pick it up, I'm in and out in less than 5 mins. They know me now, so when the lady in the back sees me, no matter who else is waiting, she looks up, sees me, smiles, pulls it from the basket, hands it to me, I sign for it and she wishes me a great day! THATS service Ive NEVER had anywhere! On a couple occasions, I had to be out of town and ran low on my prescription, I called them and the pharmacist fedexed it to me at no additional cost and I had it the next day! Small but a decent Pharmacy or corner store. Depending on when you go the wait for your prescription can be long. Staff is pretty friendly and informative. Called in for information on my child's prescription and they were helpful. I love the roasted nuts they sell in the front. Very convenient getting my prescription here instead of traveling far. The store side of the pharmacy is fine. It's usually stocked with the things you need and the front counter guys are always cool. The pharmacy side is about mediocre, with the pharmacist staff borderline indifferent. The woman Rose(?) who runs the back counter never helps w/that impression. I've gone there for years because it's the closest place. Always with the barely-contained, inexplicably hostile demeanor. Makes every visit mildly unpleasant; not enough to stop going but just enough to put you on edge when you walk in. Being consistently polite doesn't help. Sometime after the 2nd year, the attitude dialed back slightly - guess I entered 'regular' category - but it just seems unnecessary. read more

One prescription refill at Prospect Drug, and all the benefits of going to a local pharmacy over the big-chain varieties are confirmed. I've been going to this drug store since I moved into the neighborhood in early 2000. In the past 12 years, plenty of big chain drugstores and a Target have come into the neighborhood - but there is something to be said about the neighborhood, family-owned business. Trust me, one day you will be knocked out by the flu, a kidney infection, or have a child with a raging ear ache. And you will want a pharmacist, like any one of the kind ladies or men behind the counter at Prospect Drug, who will pick up the phone and call your doctor, dial your insurance company, delivery meds if necessary, or simply rush your order after seeing your crying, fevered child. I try to support small pharmacies, but I have had some problems here. I have congestion and periodically buy generic sudafed. Since sudafed is now behind the counter, I have to ask the pharmacist for it. I understand that that is the law (a law I disagree with- but that is a tangent), but giving me the side eye when I buy it is unnecessary. I am not buying enough to make meth, only enough to be able to breathe- Um Helllloooo! But today was the last straw, I called to find out if they had stock of my new prescription, which happens to be a controlled substance, and was transferred to the pharmacist. He said, "no, we don't carry it." I said, "really? why?" and then he hung up on me. Not cool. read more
