Tried to use a dentek manufacturer coupon here, and the coupon went through, but the manager rejected it saying they don't take coupons like that. The dentek rep specifically told me that only cvs and Walmart would accept the coupon. The manager had a condescending tone and didn't even have a valid reason for rejecting. I know people like that are hard to reason with so I didn't even bother and went to another cvs. The fort Hamilton cvs accepted the coupon with no issues. The pharmacist, Joanna, at 2151 86th street put my health at risk. They gave me the prescription of someone else. When I went back to return it, Joanna took the wrong prescription from me, but she refused to give me the prescription that the doctor proscribed for me. So, I had to go for a month without my medication. She should be fired. And she should be reported to the New York State Education Department, Office of the Professions to have her license revoked, if she even has a license. read more

Awful. Always dirty and the pharmacy is always crowded. Prescriptions called in by doctors are ignored and the wait times are never close to being accurate. They claimed my prescription would be ready in 20 minutes, then said that they did not even look at any of the prescriptions they'd received in the past hour and "maybe" it would be another half hour. This review is based on a recent's visit. They have a variety of beauty products and beauty tools but I could not find an eyebrow shaper. Their beauty tools are so expensive, I think the cheapest beauty scissors round to $8. They have around 3 to 4 brands pore strips but their products are all unorganized. The products and their price tag did not match. In addition, the packaging of most pore strips were all messed up. When I was at the store, there seems to be a lack of employees. As other Yelpers have mentioned... this CVS branch is almost ancient. I've been going to this location for over 20+ years... This location has deteriorated so much... 1) quality of goods (lack of products), 2) quality of displays (total mess and looks worse than a bodega!) and 3) quality of service (cashier was soooo lazy, wouldn't even price check something - with NO HUMAN around except us at 8:55AM, she said in her grumpy I HATE MY JOB voice "the price check machine is over there"). Seriously? All it takes is 5 second for her to scan an item... It's too much "work"? Why do companies employ such terrible employees with no soft skills for client facing jobs??! This CVS is plagued with tons of problems, and I know this for a fact because I've been coming here for as long as I have been alive (22+ years). First problem: Layout of the store. Half of the products are located downstairs and the only way to get there is a long set of stairs. A lot of the customers are old people and young parents with strollers. It is very inconvenient because these old people have to cling onto their dear lives on the rail to get down there and of course, it's very difficult for a mother to have to bring her stroller AND child down the stairs. Second: the products. Why are they so dusty and grimy? Like damn, maybe kind of wipe the shelves and the products once in a while??? I sometimes leave without buying what I need because they look gross. Third: workers. I remember needing to buy something that was locked up and on the side was the button to press so someone can come and open it up. I stood there waiting for 15 min and walked around downstairs to find someone, but NO ONE was there. There was only one person working at the cashier and the line was soooo long. I see this happen all the time, too; the line has 10+ people but there is only 1 person at the cashier. Am I buggin', or is there an actually better way to do this...? And why do I keep coming here even though it's filled with issues? I used to go to the Rite Aid at 20th Ave but they shut it down and replaced it with Planet fitness :( so i have no choice and sometimes I have hope that this CVS has gotten better. I would love to love this CVS as it's closer to my house than the one I typically go to in Sheepshead Bay, but I just can't do it. The place is pretty small, but is 2 floors. The people who work there seem to hate people or their jobs or both... I haven't dealt with the pharmacy in many years so I can't speak to that, but the people at the front are not the happiest of people. They also do not have a self-check out section which would be great so that you won't have to deal with anyone. Downstairs does not have a check out area so everything has to be done upstairs. The card selection is really the worst I've ever seen... dollar store selections are better.. What a shame. They do have a motorized wheelchair ramp which I thought was pretty cool, though I've never seen anyone use it. Whenever I need to come here for something last minutes, I dread it, and it's always a mistake because they usually never have what I need. Thankfully I don't do this to myself too often. This area of 86th street is also super busy so there is often no parking around which I'm sure adds to the overall frustration. read more

The pharmacy staff is absolutely wonderful: they always are willing to help me with pretty much anything I need; they recognize me and know me by name; they offer alternatives to make sure you can afford your medication (they really are caring people invested in your well being!); they make sure to get my prescriptions quickly and with no hassle; they help me understand processes or questions about my medications; and they're kind under pressure. And they are always under pressure, so that's saying a lot! It's a busy store, so you'll need to be prepared to wait in line often, but I use their phone services to help me get my prescriptions refilled and check on their status before going in to help with my mobility issues. It helps cut down on the uncertainty and keeps the line down, I feel. The rest of the store is fine, too. Pretty much what you'd expect from a drugstore. They almost always have what I'm looking for, and they have frequent sales, which helps a lot for us with limited income. It can be a little messy at times, but it doesn't bother me too much since I'm not usually hindered significantly by it. I do wish they would better organize the toothbrushes, though. lol But get a cvs card and sign up for their e-mail service-- I usually get a coupon once or twice a week in addition to the ones I get on my receipts, and they're really helpful! read more

As I've said in my previous Yelp review - I typically don't review CVS, pharmacies, or retail businesses unless there's something that needs to be said or of outstanding service. This CVS has been on 86th street for a very, very long time ever since maybe I was in 5th grade. I remember coming to this CVS a lot for my big sister with coupons to pick up things for our home. The atmosphere, staff, and layout has changed a lot over the years. I recently went in and the store looked pretty dead. There was hardly any customers and the appearance of the store seemed a lot more dirtier and messier. The staff definitely have changed. There used to be a lot more younger staff, but more friendlier and nice. The staff that's currently at this CVS seem to be a little less friendly and just a little bit anti-social. The staff also seem to be pretty slow at scanning and checking out items for customers. I miss the old staff. read more

I've shopped at this store for close to a decade, and for the last year have not shopped (or will not shop) here ever again. There have been many managers here, who have been fired for whatever reasons (suspected theft, unauthorized returns, etc, etc.) And really, it's what I heard from employees. It used to be a fun place to shop, and the managers were (almost always) friendly, and willing to accommodate. But somewhere along the way, it changed and this current manager, Imran is just horrible. And it trickles down to all the employees, who dictate to customers what they can buy (or not.) Sure, I know, for a fact that customers can be rude, aggressive, irritating, and even downright belligerent. But, when you examine the fact, that the employees just straight up talk back, do not accommodate, then deny you the right to purchase items, I'm just furious at how this store operates. There were instances where some employees were OK with straight up misrepresentation of the rules and would just walk away. And they still work for this company, albeit at this store or other CVS. I think they deserved to be fired just for the blatant disrespect to customers. I hope I never see these people again - Brandon, Jose, Ives, and the worst manager of all time, Imran. Never again, will I visit this store, while one of them works there. I know for a fact that some of them have worked at the other stores, but I just ignore them. I have nothing to say to them. I will end on this note, other employees at other CVS get outstanding thumbs ups from me, which include Austin (store number 5134), Ebony (5847), and Jared (644). The workers are lazy, let me explain...SO, I went to use their printer and it wasn't working, which wasn't the problem y'know whatever, so I asked for assistance and this worker told ME that she didn't know how to work the printer and then she told me that only one person in the entire pharmacy knows how to work the printer. SO LET ME KNOW WHY ONLY ONE WORKER out of the entire store knows how to work this printer, and he wasn't even on shift. So fast forward, he finally comes in...LATE, and when I explained the situation, he gave me this disgusted look like I was the problem. He then gives me attitude and says "all you had to do was press 'OK' " and then he tried walking away as if he fixed the problem. Like I didn't know I had to press the OK button. I continue to tell him that I already tried that & that its their printer that is messed up. He finally comes to the conclusion its the printer itself that's the problem. He did not seem to willingly want to help me, all he did was huff and puff and have an attitude until he managed to fix it..he didn't even seem to know what he was doing he just kept hitting it until pictures started falling out. If I could give ZERO STARS I would. This CVS is the worst ever!!! I only go in there when I have to as my last resort. The people working that store unfortunately are the worst of the worst. Their customer service sucks. Most of the times they don't even know what they are doing. Simple example on how terrible they are....they gave me their care card, but didn't know how to activate it and the other one didn't want to activated because it was too busy to do so. Really??? I was told to come back the next day when is slow to activate. The Pharmacy is unfortunately another joke. They do not know what they are doing. You would think the fact they are handling prescriptions they would, NOT! I just spent 15 minutes waiting for them to clear my insurance, which they already have in the system, but apparently is terminated. They refused to call because it turned 9 pm and they were closing. I offered to pay for the medication as my husband just came out of surgery and is in pain. They refused because they had closed the register. REALLY??? Nice store but as you walk in pay close attention. There is a youn' lady panhandlin' and she is a con artist and a liar. She "claims" to have lost her job but in reality she is a most likely a junkie. And, youn' men beware, she says she isn't married but when she invited me to her house no sooner did I settle in then her husband walked in. Luckily I was able to leave without incident but a few days later I spotted her once a'ain in the same spot and chewed her out. Then I told the store to inform their employees not to help her. This CVS is probably the worst I've ever been to. As mentioned by other yelpers, it's crowded here. The aisles are way too close to each other and the selection of things they carry is mediocre. I think they recently had a renovation and the store looks a bit better, but so many things still annoy me about this CVS. For example, in the beauty section in the lower level, much of the makeup has already been opened. I wonder how often they clear out products that have been tampered with. This dump is the absolute nadir of the CVS empire in the tristate area at the very least. What a frustrating experience to navigate. It's inconvenient enough that it's on two levels. But does nearly every aisle have to be clogged with inventory awaiting shelving every single day of the week? Today it obscured the very items that I came in for, so I had to push the pallet of crap about six feet further down the aisle, truly a workout. Hopefully by creating this location and expressing my dismal view of this filthy mismanaged enterprise I can shame the powers that be into some corrective action. I will be taking all future business in the meantime to the local Rite Aid. It's not much better, but at least everything is on one floor and it is somewhat better managed. This CVS never seems to have more than four employees and three are in the pharmacy section. What a joke of a business foisted upon the community. This review is for the sole purpose of reporting a terrible customer service experience I've had there. Take this as a warning for anyone making a return at this CVS: I purchased 2 Nutregeno lotions during a buy one get one 50% deal. One was an oil free SPF lotion, one was a regular daily moisturizer. I returned the daily moisturizer the weekend after, once I realized it wasn't oil free. I eventually discovered I could get the same product for cheaper, even after the discount, at Nordstrom Rack in Union Sq, so the next weekend I went back to return the oil free SPF lotion. I got the owner lady, so I guess it explains why she was so difficult. She refused to let me return the product because the item doesn't match the receipt. That was when I realized that when I made my purchase, the cashier had rung up the regular daily moisturizer twice. (I've seen lots of cashiers do this during those buy-one-get-one-50%-off sales, just because it's faster. But that usually happens at grocery stores when you're buying 20 packs of ramen and 10 bags of Chips Ahoy. It's fine to ring up using the same product if all the items are identical.) I didn't notice this at CVS when I made the purchase, so I told the cashier that they (as in you, CVS on 86 st) must have made an error when they rung it up. She didn't look like she wanted to believe me, and she just kept yelling at me that this isn't the same thing. Lady, that's not going to change what actually happened, so I just kept reiterating that they must have made a mistake at the purchase. At one point her daughter, working at the cashier next to her, tried to help but she just shooed her away. She finally let me make the return. The receipt reads $16 for one lotion, and $10 for the other one, for a total of $26. When I made my first return, I got back $13. This is to prevent people from returning one item at full price and keeping their other item at 50% off. So this time, I should have received the $13. Instead, she only gave me $8. I don't know where this arbitrary number came from, but either give me the full return or just give me store credit. Don't be a sleaze ball, refund me a random amount, and NOT TELL ME ABOUT IT. I was already out of the store when I realized the math didn't add up, but I knew she wasn't going to do anything for me, so I decided to cut my losses and leave. Now I'll know better, and hopefully you will too. Management here is terrible. This definitely would not have happened in a CVS in Manhattan. read more

CVS does have good weekly deals but you can't take advantage of it at this store since the items (food, shampoo, skincare.etc..) are usually opened and left on the shelf. Also this store is not well stocked. Lots of empty shelves and leftover items. The store itself is also dirty, the carpet is looks and feel grimy like it hasn't been vacuumed in ages.
