Welcome to Fortress CVS, where the original design turned its back on the major Central and McDowell intersection (and light rail stop), and then the homeless problem became so severe that management blocked one set of doors with a wall of bottled water cases. I once had a chat with an assistant manager who explained that it wasn't my fault I couldn't find toilet paper because their planogram made no sense but that's what corporate sent them. Recently, this CVS (and presumably others) has seen its identity fragment. It wants to be a Target, with its own house brands (Walgreens does this, too). It wants to be a dollar store and thus has some shelves of $1 housewares and $1 food. (Why did I buy a jar of Fuji apples?) It wants to be a convenience store, so it carries all sorts of personal-size snack foods, including the holy grail of candied pecans (but its non-holiday-bagged candy section is weak-to-non-existent, unlike the Walgreens up at Osborn). it sells neckties, should you have a meeting that requires one. It sells almond cookies with Chinese-language packaging, presumably for the Chinese New Year. It sells Whitman Sampler boxes the size of a modest coffee table; and I now know that the mixed hard candies that used to be Pick-a-Mix from Brach's are now called "hostess mix." It also sells lucky bamboo. In short, it's gone from being a fairly normal drugstore to being a phenomenon. It's still not really as good as the super-hipster Osborn/Central Walgreen's, but if I'm taking the tram back from the library and need cat litter, it saves me a stop and provides massive entertainment value. read more

I honestly think that I was too generous with my first review I honestly feel bad for the cashiers who have to deal with panhandlers, drunks,and other weirdos in the area. Basically, it's the the evil twin of the Cityscape location version 4.0 . I witnessed an employee telling a guy "you need to take the batteries out of your pocket. You're a thief and you need to leave". The selection is dismal and I'm often having to go to other stores to find what I am needing. Store needs a good overhauling, but I don't know if it's gonna happen read more

The pharmacist who was working there 1/24/18 around 5pm is great. They had my prescription as a cash pay but he took time to enter my insurance so I can save money. They were a bit busy with a line forming but he kept it about me and gave his full attention. Thank you Mr Pharmacist dude. read more

Pharmacists were incompetent and lacked communication between each other. A simple drop off turned into a repetitive, 12 question process. I gave them my pharmacy discount card and it took them almost 15 minutes to process the information. Drop your scrips off down the street at Safeway over this place. read more

CVS Pharmacy - Drugstores Near Me - PHOENIX, Arizona

I recently moved to the area and as a former patron of CVS, always with good experiences in the past, chose this CVS as my new pharmacy. This is the worst pharmacy I have ever experienced. It took months of sitting on hold on the phone, calling my old pharmacy myself, physically going into the store multiple times for them to finally get my prescriptions in their system. My old pharmacy insisted they sent the Rx like the first day and CVS said they never received it. Every month when I try to get my refills I sit in the automated system on the phone which says it's "being filled" however it says that for weeks. I finally get ahold of a human person 30+ min wait every time, he literally tells me "we are two weeks behind schedule," like that is a reasonable excuse?? People have prescriptions that if missed can kill them! How can you call yourself a pharmacy and just be "weeks behind"?! Luckily I live close enough that walking in is quicker than calling. Last time I went in and could see the employees running around frantically, getting short with each other and customers, I asked light heartedly as I finally checked out "Did you have some people quit, seem a little short staffed?" To which the employee looked at me dumbfounded and said "no? We had someone call out sick today though." ONE PERSON CALLING OUT SICK WOULD NOT RESULT IN A TWO WEEK DELAY. I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt but they are obviously terribly managed/staffed. Pathetic. I will be taking my prescriptions else where (if I can even get them out of their system). read more

Quite possibly the worst customer service at the pharmacy I have EVER received!!! I switched from Walgreens to CVS bcuz CVS is no longer selling cigs - so reward them for corporate responsibility....but this location makes it hard. I usually deal with the cityscape location & they r much much better!! This location thrives on rudeness & stank attitude. When I have to deal with them I cringe, I may be back to Walgreens **sigh** read more

I love CVS but I hate this location because of the lurkers. The staff are always friendly and helpful. I've never had a problem finding what I needed. I love the extra bucks program! And CVS carries Burt's Bees brand which I also love. (And who doesn't love getting extra bucks on stuff they're going to buy anyway?) But because of the lurkers I only shop here during daylight hours. read more

If I could rate this place no stars, I would select that. Their pharmacy is so terrible. We had to wait for hours after the pharmacy was saying it would take 30 minutes to get a prescription. While waiting for pick up one again, they were going to have us wait another two hours outside Instead of telling us to return. read more

I'm giving this store one star because negative stars aren't an option. For a year, this has been the closest pharmacy to my house and for that entire year, I have had a headache every SINGLE time I've had to deal with them. The staff cannot, no matter how hard I try, get anything right. EVER. There are (I believe) two pharmacists who work here that have a brain and are decent to deal with, however it just isn't enough to save this store from total and utter failure. To be fair, the rest of the store is nice and has everything anyone ever needs their CVS to have. It's clean, bright, well-stocked, etc. But the pharmacy's gross incompetence so overshadows this that it just doesn't matter to me. Yes, the store is downtown and all you from the 'burbs think it's sketchy and whatever. It's downtown, it's a city, this is how cities are so go back to Gilbert and shut up about the "weirdos." Anyone who's ever lived in a real city isn't freaked out by that stuff. The pharmacy on the other hand, should send Chuck Norris running for cover. Please lord, drive the extra couple of miles to the CVS at City Center or the Walgreens at Central and Osborn. I'm stuck now with this place, much to my great dismay. I came in to pick up a prescription that was faxed in by my doctor. They were closing so I asked what time they closed, they said 6pm. I asked what time is it? Their response was 5:58pm. I asked well it's not closed yet but they said they couldn't do anything because the registers are closed. I know it's 2 minutes but they're not a restaurant or a clothing store, I think it's ok to close the registers at the hours they state they are open til. Sometimes patients need it. Luckily I have a hard copy of the prescription, so I'm taking it to Wal-greens. They need to retrain the pharmacy staff here on what it means to be in the healthcare industry. I hate this place. I hope they close it or review their hours of operation and when they actually close. read more

The manager of this CVS is extremely rude. She is unprofessional and refuses to treat anyone like a human being. I've never met a more condescending person. I wish CVS would stop letting immature representatives into their management. This is the second manager I've had to deal with there that has the same attitude. Does CVS enjoy hiring Pharmacy managers this awful and unprofessional? Are we adults here or is this the new norm of treating people like animals? Thanks. If I could give 0 I would. Please listen to the negative reviews and save yourself time and frustration. They have no idea what they are doing, and are very very rude. No greeting and ignored me for about 5 minutes standing right in front of them, left in the middle of helping me because they are off now and are "outa here". Acted like they didn't even know about my prescription and then says it's not ready and come back, says "maybe it will be ready tomorrow maybe not" i spoke to a different person, what I assume is the actual pharmacist and they said it would be ready after 1 tomorrow. I came back around 4pm (much later after they said it would be ready) and the same thing happened they said they still don't have it and it has not even been processed, then someone else went to the back grabbed it and said just right now it was delivered so now they have it. Glad it miraculously appeared while I was standing there, I must've missed the delivery man. I definitely will not be back. read more

I called the CVS store number 7550 S 19th avenue Phoenix, Az. I have been on hold for over 37 minutes and this being the second attempt due to the person who answered the phone did not give a second to pick up the phone since it was on speaker ( so I could work on other tasks at work) This matter was for a patient needing her birth control and which is time sensitive and was given the run around that they do not carry that medication. Why they didn't reach out to our facility? I have no idea. As I type this complaint I continue to wait on hold! The pharmacy techs are extremely rude. Every time I've been in here I have heard them arguing with someone. When you pull up to the drive through window they don't even say hello. They just stare at you until you say something. They were out of my medication so I asked them if they could send it to another store. They said yes and to let them know which one but recommended I call that pharmacy first. So when I called CVS again to tell them which store to transfer my prescription to, they told me that they needed the other store to call them and fill out a form. He was very rude about it. Not to mention this store is always very unclean and ridden with beggars. Every time you walk out the door, expect to be asked for money by someone. read more

Do not go here. Because of this pharmacy's inability to timely refill or communicate about its inability to refill, I have been off my meds for two weeks. I now have to retitrate and it will be a full month before I am on my normal dose. This location's ineptitude is beyond belief. They do not answer their phones. I tried to refill using the phone tree but never received a notification that the RX was filled. Then I tried going to another CVS location, but I was told my insurance wouldn't authorize the refill because the original location had already filled it. So I went back to the original location only to be told I needed to come back because they hadn't filled the prescription yet. This location is absolutely unreliable and it is deeply negligent and irresponsible. I will never go to this location ever again and am seriously debating never going to CVS in the future. My doctor prescribed a new Rx for me. My regular pharmacy is the CVS at Central and McDowell. Problems were encountered apparently because my insurance was confused and thought this Rx had already been filled. The pharmacist requested it again and it went through. When I told the pharmacist that the person who answered the phone gave me incorrect information, he said "I don't believe it happened exactly that way." That likely is not an exact quote, but it is very close. Even if he is correct in thinking that I lied about what happened, no one who has received customer service training would ever say such a thing to a customer. I know this because I have designed customer service training. I am sorry I did not get this person's name. Just beware if you complain at CVS. read more

This is a good location if you happen to be in downtown Phoenix. They of course have a pharmacy,which i have not used. They have everything that all CVS stores have. It is nice and clean,with lots of parking. Yes there are a few homeless and drug prrps asking for $$ and this and that. But, you run into that almost everywhere in Phoenix and the Valley. read more

They literally have had my prescription in stock one time in 4 months. They have pretty crappy customer service (applies only to pharmacy) on top of it. Not only that, you feel like you may get shot at while waiting in the drive-thru pharmacy. Obviously they dive value customers like me at all. Last week when I filled antibiotics for my sick child the wait was excruciating. Even though it's the closest to pharmacy to my home, I will be finding another. Get it together CVS! read more

I called this CVS today to ask a question about what wine brands they carry, because believe it or not some sites offer different products than others. This is the conversation as I remember it: "Hi, I was calling to ask what wine brands you carry?" "Wine?" "Yes, could you please tell me what brands you have at this location" "Hold on, let me put you on hold." I was then put on hold for thirty seconds, and then was hung up on. I'm assuming the employee believed this was a prank call, but I called other CVS locations in the area with the same question, and they were all much more helpful and informative. Providing good customer service is part of the job, and I've never experienced such poor quality service in regards to a question than can be answered by looking at their stock. read more

The pharmacy manager Roger Rahaeuser was awesome for us. We left Seattle and (we are older and forgetful) we left some very important medications. Absolutely atrocious pharmacy! I had a prescription called into this location and went to pick it up only to be told that they had no record of it. I called the physician that ordered it who explained that he had spoken to the pharmacist himself. I then called the pharmacy supervisor who was incredibly flippant and said they had been busy. He gave a half hearted apology but I told I'm I didn't think he was sorry at all. Awful. Under no circumstances should anyone get their prescriptions filled here. read more

I have two types of insurance and the pharmacy techs always get the copays correct. I'm not told repeatedly "your insurance doesn't cover this" like a certain local boutique compounding pharmacy a few miles northwest. Pharmacy techs are wonderfully competent and don't expect customers to figure out the billing system! What more could you ask for? Plus, it's close to home. Also, who gives a shit about the homeless people hanging around? If people without homes are so offensive to you, go back to your gated community and promptly eat a bag of dicks. read more

Save your time and pick any other pharmacy. I refilled my pregnancy nausea medication here only to receive 30 instead of 60 (my fault as well for not noticing). Upon realizing I call the pharmacy at 10am to explain this and the gentlemen didn't even acknowledge a mistake had been made but said that they would be ready for pick up shortly. I arrive at 5pm to another guy saying I did not have an order for pick up that I just refilled a months supply (60) two weeks ago. I reexplain the situation and he speaks with the pharmacist only to return and tells me he would need to see the empty bottle to be sure it said qty:60 instead of 30 (he literally had just said they gave me 60 five minutes prior) he asked for my contact number and said I would have to return with an empty bottle even though I was not told to bring the bottle on the phone in the morning. I go all the way home and return with it. Not a single person even looked at the bottle they just hand be a bag with the remaining prescription! I asked why I needed to go all the way home for the bottle then she said she didn't know and that they had spoken with the previous employee as we drove away. Im livid at this point and said he even asked for my number and it's in your system no one called I just got a text saying "it's too soon to refill" she said she didn't know. No apology was offered from any of the 3 associates I spoke with or acknowledgement of a mistake. It took so much time (and throwing up) to get the non controlled substance of nausea meds replaced that I should of had to begin with. I will never return to a CVS Pharmacy that can't even inventory their pills for error or apologize. read more

This pharmacy has horrible customer service. At another local cvs, they will print out pharmacy records in advance and hand them to you through the drive-through window, after you provide your ID. This store makes you walk in and wait in line, and refuses to produce the records in advance so that you could just pick them up after showing ID at the drive-through. The outside of the store, including the sidewalks and parking lot, are filthy all the time due to the large number of transients that reside around the building (other businesses in the area pick up their trash and wash the sidewalks; only this CVS is this dirty). There is no reason not to accommodate customers wanting paperwork through the drive-through window, rather than making them walk in (there was no line at the drive through). The staff at the front check out counter are always friendly and accommodating and the store is well stocked, but the pharmacy does NOT measure up. read more
