This is the worst CVS pharmacy ever. I've been going here for a long time. It is always understaffed, and you're always waiting in line. Their medications are often out of stock but they don't tell you this until you're there to pick up the medication. If you need to fill multiple medications due to real health concerns they are incapable of doing so and it can take several attempts to have them filled. Staff aren't mean, but this place could be managed better. Corporate needs to step in and fix this pharmacy--right in the middle of downtown where people depend on their services. read more

Don't fill your prescription here if you can avoid it. The staff are totally incompetent. I dropped of my prescription on a Sunday and the pharmacist said it would be ready that day. Then she called me after I left and told me that it wouldn't be ready until Saturday. I came in on Saturday and the pharmacist told me that they didn't have it until the following Wednesday! I've been looking for this CVS on Yelp forever. The anger I feel every time I step into this CVS is unexplainable. I have been here one too many times, only to keep giving it another chance (I shop at Whole Foods) because of convenience. No matter what time of day, prepare to wait 10 years to check out. Yeah, there's a self check out... But it doesn't apply to you if you are purchasing something that has an age restriction. Even when I pick up one thing, it takes me atleast 15-20 minutes to get out of there. The employees (or the ONE employee) plays with their phone while checking out people... and apparently she does not pay attention to the line. The next time this happens, I swear I'm going to throw my stuff and have a 25 year old tantrum in there. Ugh. It's disgusting that I had to give this dreadful CVS even one star. read more

This is the CVS that is closest to my house. When I went there to get a prescription filled after dental surgery, the pharmacist told me they did not have the prescription in stock and then walked away. As she walked away, I asked if she could call another CVS location to see if they had the prescription. She then turned around and simply said "no" and stood there looking at me. I had my partner with me, as I could not drive, and am glad that he was there to witness the incident. I am perplexed as to why a pharmacist or any person working in retail/customer service would not assist a customer in finding a product. I worked in retail for a number of years and it is routine to call another store location to find an item if it's not in stock at my location. I now only go to a CVS location that is further from my house than this location. read more

Only giving them one star because zero is not an option. I've lived in the DC area since 2002, and this is the absolute worst Pharmacy I've had to deal with. First of all, if your doctor calls in your prescription, chances are they not only will not have it ready, but deny that they ever got a call from them. Hell, they will act like you aren't even in their system, even though you've been going exclusively to CVS for the past 10+ years. That is exactly what happened today when my husband came by to pick my prescription. They told him they never got it and I wasn't even in their system. I stopped by a couple hours later and the pharmacist said they had gotten it, but it hadn't been prepared (my doctor called it in 8 hours prior). I went to stand in the pickup line, and the same pharmacist told the guy at the register to check out the person in line after me first (WTF???). This is not the first time something like that has happened here. Last time my doctor called in a prescription (twice) they acted like they never got it. I have never had such consistently bad service at any of the other CVS/pharmacies I've dealt with. If you value time and don't expect to waste it waiting at the pharmacy for a prescription that should have already been filled, DO NOT GO HERE. read more

Terrible prescription prices. I purchased common antibiotic cephalexin at CVS - $80. At Target: $17. Both purchases were without health insurance. If you do your research, you find out different pharmacies charge wildly different prices for common generics, and CVS is in general near the worst. read more

Simply horrendous. Every time I go there I vow not to go again. Here are three examples. 1) I arrive at the pharmacy first thing in the morning. The store is practically empty. There is no one at the pharmacy counter. I am told that the prescription will be ready in about two hours and not a moment earlier. Why? The annoyed pharmacist tells me , "I'm busy." When I ask why I am told, "I have a lot of things to do from yesterday." 2) I ask the pharmacist for some strips for a CVs product on the shelf. I am given the wrong stips. I hand them back and explain they won't fit the product. Pharamcist (irritated) "we'll have to order them." I point out the produce is sitting on the shelf under the pharamacy counter, and ask if they plan to have them available in the future (without special ordering.) I am told "no." 3) I drop off a prescription and show up a few hours later. Its not filled as they don't have the medication. They did not check if they had the drug when they told me when to come back. Overall service is rude and staff appears to feel entitled to keep you waiting. read more

I've had several positive interactions with the staff and management at this CVS. Most recently, I had a prescription which my Dr. warned may carry a high co-pay. In fact, it was a $60 co-pay, however, the pharmacist told me to hold on and he checked for a coupon which brought the co-pay down to $10. He was polite, professional, and most importantly cared about my well being. read more

They usually only have the self check-out lanes open - perhaps trying to be efficient, but there is always a ridiculous line regardless. I go here frequently out of convenience and most of the employees are quite nice, but there are two women who are exceptionally rude (one at the pharmacy, and another who seems to be a manager). Selection is pretty good although you have to check the dates on things like cheese/butter. read more

The young lady at the Pharmacy checkout was rude and just plain nasty. I was waiting the the "drop off" line which appeared to be blocked off, no sign, nothing so I was confused. I wanted to drop off a very important prescription from my urgent care visit earlier. I was unsure if the "drop off" line was closed, so I walked over the where there was a person to ask....she immediately yelled at me and told me "the line is back there"....I said thank you....obviously she knew I had a question, so I went behind two people waiting in line.....this store is VERY cramped. When I got up to the "pick up" line, this same young lady told me "the drop off line is over there"....SO rude. I explained to her that I was wanting to ask that in the first place and she told me to stand in another line (the wrong line). I am so disgusted by CVS's decline in customer service and the hostility received from this pharmacy employee. I am not asking for anything except to drop off a much needed prescription. I don't need rude condescending nasty low life attitudes towards me. I told her that she is extremely rude and she firmly said "no I'm not"....just unprofessional behavior from someone who is supposed to be helpful. This location may very well be the worst location I have ever shopped at. The reviews are right in describing the rude CVS employees and constantly being out of stock. However, today takes the cake. I was followed and stared at by an associate when buying a soda, but the white customers who came in behind me were left to create a remake of 'singing in-the-freaking-rain', or what have you. As I was trying to simply get out of the messy lackluster (and apparently 'profiling') store as soon as possible, by hurrying up to pay, there was an announcement for security to come up front immediately, when four black male teenagers entered the store. Only one of the kids was buying an item (turns out a soda too). So all the kids were waiting in line with their friend and even remarked about the security announcement immediately upon their entrance into the store. I was so disgusted by what happened, I sought out the manager. When Dama came out, I expressed my complaint in a very low, polite, private and respectful manner. Dama decided he wanted to get really loud/dramatic and profess that what I thought I saw and heard was an illusion. He started talking really loudly and cutting me off and then shouted he was calling corporate to make sure they would not allow me in the store again. This review is dedicated to one particular CVS team member with whom I was very impressed - WAISEE. I needed passport size photos for my visa application and had no idea how this was done. As soon as I entered the store, Waisee made eye contact, greeted me and grabbed the CVS smartphone. He escorted me over to a blank wall and took a couple of photos. He was knowledgeable about what was needed, telling me my ears had to be visible in the picture, and that I could get two extra photos for just .35 cents. Who knew? He proceeded to the kiosk where he had to change the printer paper, upload my photos, and print my receipt. He provided me with a nice booklet for the photos, then he opened up a register to ring me up so I did not have to stand in line. I've never been to this location when it was not crowded and today was no different, but Waisee's customer service was OUTSTANDING. He was friendly, genuine, efficient, and courteous. The pharmacist told me that the prescription for my father-in-law wasn't available but it could be ordered for tomorrow. I asked what time and she said morning. I said 11:00am and she said yes it will be here. Guess what - I showed up at 11am but no dice on the prescription but it might come in 30 minutes or so. After wasting 30 minutes shopping for crap I don't need and waiting around I was told that it wasn't likely to arrive until 2pm. Ummmm, why didn't pharmacist #1 tell me that the day before and why didn't pharmacist #2 tell me that it wasn't going to come until 2pm??? A morning wasted!! I left then came back 4 hours later wasting yet more time plus my elderly father-in-law didn't get his medication until late. And then I went to use the self cash register and asked for cash back - it gave me $10 of the $30 I requested. Yeah, I really like to see that "Cash Error" on screen sign when no cashier assistance is available. I tracked down someone in a CVS vest who didn't really understand that particular cash machine error (yet spent 10 minutes figuring out it was way above his level of competence) before he gave up and called the manager. Hello, I thought self registers were supposed to make things easier and faster. Not. And finally, a note to the corporate officers at CVS - enough with the CVS store brand!!! I want real gummy bears not crappy imitation gummy bears made by CVS elves in China.....if you must carry CVS brand then at least also carry the real thing!!!! read more

I wish I could rate it as zero starts. This is the worst pharmacy ever!. They never have enough cashiers and the self checkout machines never seem to work. Twice they have refilled my prescriptions without my authorization. The first time it happened, it was for a drug I was no longer taking. I called to complain and was told it would be fixed They never fixed it and had to get the problem taken care of When I visited the store I was told that I requested it and proceeded to get into an argument about whether I had or had not requested it. It turns out this is a common problem at CVS. The same thing just happened to me again. When I called to complain, the employee I spoke to was real unfriendly. read more

There was an issue with the automatic refill for my prescription so I called to speak with the pharmacist and I was put on hold for 10 minutes and could not reach anyone. Then I called again and was placed on hold for 30 minutes and had to hang up. I finally called the store and spoke with the manager and explained the problem, and finally I was able to speak with the pharmacist to get my prescription refilled. They should really improve that aspect of their service- by hiring more personnel, because otherwise it is a decent store with courteous staff. read more

I frequently stop in this CVS because it's the best place to get cheap snacks and drinks in DTSS at early and late hours. However, that's the only positive thing I have to say about it. First of all, the rest of the store has a completely confusing layout. If I'm looking for anything other than food, I find myself wandering around like a fool for a long time. My worst gripe about it is the checkout process. There's usually maybe, if you're lucky, one person behind the counter checking people out. Now it does have self checkout stations, but those are a mess as well. Usually one of the three is broken, and if you're checking out at one there's usually one of the employees hovering over you to the point of getting in the way of you checking out. I think most customers are familiar with self checkouts these days, so they probably don't need someone reaching over their shoulder to press buttons on the machine or asking them half a dozen questions (or if they didn't know how to check out, they could just ask the employee). I suppose I'll continue to go there, but only until there's some decent competition in DTSS. Even a vending machine would do the trick. read more

Like other reviewers, this review is solely for the pharmacy service. I had no idea that pharmacy services could vary so much, but over the last two years I have experienced some of the worst customer service at this pharmacy. For reasons that are still unexplained, the pharmacy has not been able to accurately fill a prescription that I have taken for a year - coming in once a month for the refill. Every month, I spend a week on the phone trying to clear up what the latest confusion might be. I never figure it why this keeps happening but know I will be going through the same shinangans the next month. One pharmacist refused to fill a refill sent directly from the doctor to the pharmacy, claiming that I had taken too much of the medication - even after I did the math with her to prove I took the exact dosage prescribed. Then she changed the story and said she wouldn't fill it because my insurance wouldn't cover it; the total out of pocket cost of the medicine was $5. Every time I have to get a prescription filled it's something ridiculous. The lines to check our are always long, even if only 1 or 2 people are in front of you. This is the closest pharmacy to my house, but after the debacle that was this week with their service I will gladly drive further. read more
