Actual shopping experience here is fine, parking is easy, but they FORCE you to use the self checkout. I have been here and on several occasions got in line to wait for help at the counter and the employee made me go to the self checkout each time instead of just helping me. Typically every time I've had to ask for help here most employees are super helpful and very kind. There is one however that is typically behind the checkout counter, or sometimes self checkout, middler aged male with shaved head and stubble, that seems to constantly be in a bad mood no matter what day I've gone in. Multiple occasions when I've asked for assistance he seems inconvenienced, or flat out rude about it even when asked politely. I've never left a bad review in my life but I'm astonished by this employees behaviour. I figured I caught them on a bad day, but I'm realizing this is just everyday. I know CVS is hiring but I hope they talk to this worker about this. It's become unpleasant enough that I've avoided going to the store entirely, and have looked at other pharmaceutical options. I noticed I didn't mention this in my original review. To make matters worse, since they were demanding a prescription for a non-prescription item, I showed them my prescription WITH CVS to show I had one. Instead of saying "oh, ok, here you go" and handing me a couple of pen needles, they said it would take several days to transfer my prescription from CVS to CVS. After all of that, the "pharmacist's discretion" they quoted was for me to suffer from high blood sugar for over 24 hours. As I mentioned in the original review, the next day at a new pharmacy, his discretion was to give me about 4 pen needles and to charge me $4 for them. I didn't even have to show him my "prescription" from CVS. The "prescription" situation is that your doctor can prescribe anything. Mine also prescribes baby aspirin but I just buy it over the counter. Literally the exact same situation for the pen needles. Years later and I'm still pissed off at them! read more

This one is a long time coming. I don't like giving bad reviews because, well, sometimes s*** happens. People are human. We started coming here out of need and proximity when out other pharmacy closed. I was never aware that a drug store could be so dysfunctional. It seems like a basic need. Here, when the rx is filled, they will text you to alert you that it's ready. However, when you arrive at the store, you will wait in line 2x, once to ask if it's ready (spoiler alert: it is NEVER ready), and a second time to pick up and pay for the meds. Their line is usually a 5-6 person long line. In between lines, you wait (sometime 15, sometimes 20, I have even waited 30 minutes), until they call your name. So, poor process. Boo hoo, Annoying. The reason I am posting this review is due to a medication error. The last prescription that they filled was for my daughter, and it was the wrong dosage by a long shot. I noticed when I got home and thank goodness we caught it. When I asked CVS about it they blamed it on my Dr, but their explanation did not make sense to me. I asked my Dr about this and was able to see the prescription she sent in. I was encouraged to file a complaint but I took it back to them and they still played a smoke and mirrors game, rejecting any responsibility and telling me that I needed to pay better attention to the proscriptions I pick up to make sure they are the correct dosage. Please take care if you have elderly parents who go here. Their system is not working the way it should. Admitting there is a problem is the first step to fixing the problem. They are not willing to do this. read more

I was at CVS with my friend, and the cashier lady was super friendly and helpful. We needed to enlarge a picture, and she had to call a gentleman to put the picture in a panel. I did not appreciate his attitude, and I don't appreciate it when employees are asked to do something they do it in a bad mood. My three start are for the lady. read more

I go into this CVS almost weekly and every time the service is always outstanding! The clerks and managers work very hard to ensure everything is clean, in its place and that customers can find what they need. CVS has great bargains on staples like coffee, tea, snacks and dozens of sundries and household goods. Since COVID-19 the store in Sonoma has installed a couple of self-checkout machines. On my visit this past week, customers still prefer to go to a checkout clerk rather than a machine. Yes! Waiting in line can take time but I think it's the interaction that people appreciate most. Especially, when staff and management are exceptional at what they do, providing excellent customer service. If you don't see it on the shelf, just ask! A staff/clerk or even one of the managers will go to the stock room in back and get it. Now, there are times when things are not perfect and that's usually when it gets very busy. I've noticed that customers can be very impatient and unreasonable. Usually it has to do with being in a rush. All I can say is why rush? Come back later. It's not fair to put staff and managers under such pressure when they are doing a very good job at meeting needs. A few years ago, this CVS was remodeled and since then it has been even easier to find things and get what's needed. I saw in the news the other day, an article about CVS using too much roll paper in the receipt. Perhaps. But those coupons on the receipt are $ savers. If you use your CVS Extra Care card and the coupons you save all the time on something. The CVS in the town of Somoma is among the best. Stop in. Check it out! read more

I asked a worker if they carried saline solution (Sodium Chloride) for inhalation via nebulizer, they told me to ask the pharmacist. I went and asked the pharmacist, they told me to go ask a worker. All I could find on my own were saline solutions for nasal rinses, not what I needed. I left and tried Rite Aid; same exact level of customer support. Nobody had a clue. PHARMACY ONLY.....Went here today to get my flu shot. One person in line to pick up their meds only. Was told to schedule it online. I get my phone to schedule and the CVS site won't let me schedule, says not available in this zip code. Go back to the counter and ask for them to schedule for me. They can't supposedly. I ask how do Seniors with no phones or internet schedule their shots? Was told "they have to have someone help them". WTF? Another person behind the counter hears what I'm asking and says "We're fully booked for today." No they weren't, they was ZERO people getting flu shots. Needless to say, I wouldn't let them give me a shot if they wanted to. I'll drive 20 miles out of my way to Kaiser for my shot. Crummy staff and not helpful. I feel sorry for seriously ill people that have to deal with them. read more

The pharmacist denied me my paxlovid after my doctor sent a prescription. She decided that since the prescription was from Kaiser they would not honor it. Rite Aide, fortunately, honored and filled the prescription. I am an elderly woman and it was critical that I get the medication as soon as possible. It was cruel of CVS to deny me my medicine. Probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced. Called 2 hours in advance to verify when prescription would be ready and was told "couple hours". After 20 minutes in line one of the two pharmacy clerks yelled that there were only 2 of them on duty and "it's going to take awhile." I went to Pharmaca and bought a box without a line. Two horrible experiences with CVS Both times I called multiple times trying to follow up on the transfer of two prescriptions from another pharmacy. First they typically have you on hold for a half an hour. Second yet they're understaffed severely. It took three attempts for my other pharmacy to get the prescription properly transferred because they kept claiming that they only received one instead of two. We need a good pharmacy in Sonoma CVS and Rite Aid are both horrible. read more

The pharmacist, Ashley and the other ( I've forgotten his name I'm so sorry) are so caring. They take time for each and every patient. Let's not forget the front counter staff- superb and friendly --. consistently. In a place that deals with sick irritable, impatient people, these folks have patience in spades. I've had to come to them for my grandmother, children and myself. I've seen them with all types of customers. Always the same kind and decent care and delivery. This review is for the pharmacy only as I don't often shop at CVS otherwise. The pharmacy repeatedly shorts both my fiancee and I on our prescriptions and is either reluctant to or simply refuses to correct their mistakes. This isn't a one-time incident, they keep doing it. The first time we noticed because my fiancee ran out of a drug far before he should have while taking it as instructed. We calculated that there had only been 30 pills instead of 90 and CVS simply refused to do anything about it. We now count them out whenever we pick up anything and sure enough the count is not always as much as it says on the bottle. We are looking into switching pharmacy's because we just don't feel like we can trust CVS anymore. read more

I would avoid this pharmacy. As a physician trying to explain my wife's prescription to the pharmacist for renewal was met with arrogance and indifference. He spent about 20 seconds on the line then told me he was hanging up. I then spoke to Rite Aid where the pharmacist was knowledgeable and accommodating. The customer service at the pharmacy is awful, they do not know the over-the-counter inventory nor it's location. After waiting in line for 15 minutes to ask where the infant fever reducing meds are, was told to stand at the consultation window. After waiting there for several more minutes (5-10), was told it was in the infant aisle. Nope, wasn't there, no shelf tag for it even. Back to the pharmacy, wait some more. Am redirected to a staff member who works in the front of the store who is knowledgeable and helpful. Yay. Now to the checkout, another long line to wait in. I'm super anxious because baby is home with a high fever. Line is moving slow, I ask people in front of me if they are waiting for self checkout. No one is. I go to kiosk. Baby thermometer won't scan. In spite of repeated messages from machine that someone will come to help me, no one does. I wait. I wait. I wait some more. Finally someone comes to help people standing in line, in desperation I say, "can you help me?" I am clearly agitated, standing there in my N95 with a pile of stuff that is obviously for a sick baby. "Customer service" person is rude, without empathy and gave me a nice little lecture about how inappropriate I was behaving. It took over an hour to complete what should have been a 10 minute transaction. I will drive to Napa and go to Target before stepping foot in this store again. Went to fill two prescriptions, was told it would be a few hours to fill because my Dr. Didnt check something. I needed them sooner so I took them to Rite Aid, they had no issue filling them and they were ready in 15 min. So go to Rite Aid much faster and the staff if a lot more friendly. read more

This pharmacy has the slowest service ever. And they are pretty okay with that. I had great experience with my local CVS and then I moved thinking it would be the same, not so. The pharmacist here, a young guy with dark hair seems to work at a snail's pace. He seems bothered that you make him work at all. Its too bad. I had a video tape that I wanted to update to a DVD, plus some photos that I wanted to copy. I was on my way to crowded Costco when I took a chance that CVS could help me. Thomas helped me in the photo department. First I witnessed him helping an older lady. He had the patience of a saint. He quickly helped me to use the machine as well as easily helped me to get my daughters precious wedding video put on a DVD, I was in and out in less than 30 minutes, and the cost was $25. I'm very satisfied with the service I received today, as well as my new "go to" person at CVS. Even though it's a chain store, I felt as though it was my neighborhood store. All the employees at this pharmacy are wonderful but there's something integral missing in their operations that I can't quite put my finger on. It might just be more demand with less pharmacies available in the immediate area, I'm not sure. What is unfortunate is that you cannot depend on or trust that your prescription will be filled; even after dropping it off in-person and giving them a full 24 hours to fill it. (If you think you can drop it off and have it filled in 30 minutes like most pharmacies, think again.) I don't have another convenient option close to my home and the employees are great so I use this pharmacy. I just recommend you alter your expectations and call to remind the pharmacy after dropping off a prescription if and when you haven't received a text notification that it's been filled and it's been 24 hours since dropping it off. read more

I had an extremely frustrating experience getting a flu shot yesterday at the CVS pharmacy in Sonoma. I was told the wait would be 15 minutes but it was over an hour. Went to pick up a moneygram and had to come up to the clerk 3 times. the first one asked me to call moneygram and I did and as the moneygram told me if it was still showing to call I should ask the moneygram agent to call them directly. well I got up to second clerk and he asked back up for a manager and I let him know what happened and I said that it was moneygram itself asked me to ask the agent to call them if the same problem persisted. he refused to make the phone call even after what I have told him. he was so grumpy and not helpful.. rude! please stop doing business if you can't handle that read more
