If I could give negative stars I would. Blatantly rude pharmacist that was very confrontational and did not want to help with my prescription concerns. The pharmacist was a foreign bald dude with a slight beard. He should be fired. Was not willing to help with my prescription and clearly does not care about his job or the people his job is intended to cater for. My physician gave me an additional discount for my prescription that works at any CVS. I kindly asked the lady dealing with me if she would be able to apply the discount card. The man immediately interjected and said "We close at 7. Tomorrow." He then followed up with: "you have good insurance. You don't need more discount." Absolute A-Hole comment. Clearly is not happy with his job or life. I ended up just paying the difference because I did not want to deal with him or get into an argument. Truthfully ruined my day. They could've said no and been nice about it and given a reasonable explanation as to why they wouldn't accept it. But the rudeness and attitude was really over the top and is why I am writing this review. Do not go here unless you want to have your day ruined by rude people. read more

I'm a lay minister with many years of community service experience and I'm also studying theology in grad school. I like to show grace whenever possible, so even when I have to go on Yelp to write about a bad experience, I try to be fair and constructive. But you know, I'm also human. First of all, the employee named Raheem either needs to be re-trained or has to be let go. I don't like calling out employees by name in reviews unless it's for good service but Raheem made me feel so uncomfortable that I'm forced to go public like this in the hope that it will foster change. Until Raheem rung up my merchandise, I had never had a retail experience -- at CVS or other stores -- where I was pressured to accept a subscription. Raheem was giving me the hard sell for the CVS CarePass, by giving me a song and dance about how CVS recognizes that Americans are going through hard times right now and that the company wants to help the community by giving away ten dollars off each total purchase. Blah blah blah. I'm not naive. We've all gone through our fair share of sales pitches for rewards clubs. But Raheem was going for it hard like he was the used care salesman of the CVS world. It was horrific. He wouldn't take No for an answer. He just kept going on and on about things like "But you can take the ten dollars now and cancel tomorrow." And in my head I was thinking, "I don't want to cancel tomorrow. I don't want to do ANYTHING that I DO NOT WANT to do tomorrow." In fact, I was very close to spitting out a lecture about consent. Instead, I just politely smiled and said variations of "no" with increasing firmness. And all the while, my mom was standing next to me, not knowing what to do. What's the moral of this story? That bad customer service experiences happen? Maybe. But the other moral of the story might be that you never know what a customer is going through, so learn to read the room -- or at least try not to make hard sells. You see, the thing is, this CVS is located within a 20 minute walk from MedStar Georgetown. I can only imagine how many people like my mom and I shop there: we are family members of a patient currently hospitalized at MedStar Georgetown. My dad had a stroke and he was helicoptered there from our home hospital in the suburbs to get better treatment. We got a hotel nearby so it would be easier to get to my dad every day during the early stages of his recovery. By the time we were at CVS tonight, we were tired and hungry after a long day of caring for my dad, and we had a lot of merchandise that needed to be rung up. The last thing we needed was Raheem making us feel like crap because we didn't want to accept his offer. While I'm on the subject, I didn't like the way Raheem's coworker -- a man whose name I didn't get, sadly -- scoldingly told me to take all my stuff out of my basket. On the one hand, I understand. But on the other, if you're gonna come at me like that for protocol, maybe you should keep the basket holders closer to the registers. What is the customer supposed to do when you snap at them to take all their stuff out of the basket? Trudge all the way over to the front doors in the middle of a transaction to replace the basket in the one basket holder in the whole store?! Is the cashier going to take the basket back from me after I empty it and place it behind the register? No instruction provided whatsoever. Just take your stuff out. If I wanted this kind of treatment, I would go shopping in the slums of my home country. "Show me your pockets!" I hate writing a review like this in which the antagonists are BIPOC folks. But you know the saying. Not all skin folk are kin folk. Avoid this CVS. Especially when you have loved ones at MedStar Georgetown. You will be demeaned and belittled far beneath whatever medical crisis has already sunk you to your lowest low. read more

My experience with this pharmacy in recent months has been horrendous. I used to use it exclusively in the past but will now avoid it at all costs. They often don't have the prescribed medicine in store so you go to the pharmacy and they tell you that it will take several days. That's fine if you can delay taking the medicine for days but if you can't they don't try to help you find it at another of their branches. And if you should need to contact them by phone be prepared to be on hold forever til you give up. A friend spent 5 hours going back and forth to this pharmacy and another CVS nearby where the staff was very nice though I was on hold for at least 30 minutes if not closer to 1hour before my call was answered by the pharmacist. That pharmacist helped to find the medication at a third CVS and I finally got my medication. read more

Terrible customer service by phone. I decided to write this review since I've been holding for 40+ minutes. I have called once every hour for the past four hours, and have yet to reach an actual person in their pharmacy. I have been to this CVS in person at least six times during the pandemic, and its pharmacy is never crowded -- except the first week of Covid vaccines. It has been 50 minutes, and now the phone just went to a busy signal and cut off. This is pathetic customer service. read more

I can say enough about the helpful staff at this location. had a problem with extrabucks and they reprinted a voucher - no questions asked. Also, I recently left my wallet behind at the counter and they locked it up and it was there the next day when I retraced my steps. Credit cards intact and cash untouched. It'a a city store and may not be as fresh and pretty as the locations in the burbs, but it more than does the job. The pharmacy team is also super helpful. read more

I actually tried to call CVS because the manager of the store was so rude. However, their system is impossible so am writing here instead. The manager of this store harassed me for a good 5 minutes because I tried to get cash back from inoperable self service checkout. Even after I had apologized 3x and brought it to his attention that I had apologized and he didn't need to treat a regular (or any) customer like that, he continued. So I apologized a 4th time and only when another clerk told him to cool it did he actually drop it. He made not only made me feel badly for "causing problems" but also made sure he was loud enough for all the other customers up front to hear. I shop in this store about 3x a week as it's only a few blocks from my house. However, I will take my business to a locally-owned pharmacy and Safeway instead. read more

This is a CVS a couple of blocks up from M st. It is a good place to go if you need to pick up some basic supplies such as an umbrella, chapstick, gloves, water etc. while you are wandering around downtown Georgetown. The only thing is they don't have restrooms! I asked the clerk where their restroom was and he laughed and said there are no restrooms anywhere near Mst. So come for basic supplies, but don't expect basic amenities. They have plenty of self checkout stations for quick purchases. read more

Pharmacy is the worst. Never staffed, takes weeks to fill prescription even though they say it will be ready in a few days, and are rude to you when you ask them if they have an estimate of when the next medication will be. Originally they said it would take 3 days so I said yes let me put the prescription here, and I had to wait 3 weeks for them to tell me to bring the prescription to a different cvs because they don't have the medication yet. They also never answer the phone. I get that this is a popular CVS because of Georgetown students but the Georgetown community desperately needs a better pharmacy than this one. read more

CVS. Before CVS, I had never really experienced "bad" customer service. I have certainly been to restaurants where the waiter or hostess could have been a bit more attentive. For the most part, those negative reviews can be trumped up to me being in a crappy mood. Then I came to Washington, D.C. CVS has the WORST customer service ever. The worst. While I single this CVS out, it should be noted that this review is for all CVSs. They are all terrible. I honestly believe that CVSs customer service model is written in a way that purposely aims to meet the following objectives: 1. Completely ignore any and all customer requests; 2. Create long lines at check out counters; and 3. Ensure that each employee has absolutely no idea what is going on. CVS is like smoking. I made the quick trek up here to buy a card for a friend who was celebrating in GT. Thankfully I wasn't in need of other products as this CVS was: 1) humid for some reason - not sure what the deal was with their AC system. 2) disheveled. I couldn't help but thinking that this was more on the lines of a mom and pop store as opposed to a national franchise. 3) smelled bad. I can't talk too much to this one other than remembering that my nose was not pleased. But, if you're in a pinch for anything, I can guess you can make the hike up Wisconsin to here. I never would have thought to go out of my way to review a CVS, but my experience this weekend definitely changed my impression of their beauty section. They now have "testers" of foundations! Although I unfortunately could not find the testers in the colors I needed. The staff was actually really helpful in providing me make up wipes and even serum/moisturizer samples when I needed a last minute dry skin fix. I also was about to try Vichy which I completely recommend now, and saved me from having unbearable dry skin for the rest of the day. Overall, super impressed with the services that Sephora... woops, I mean CVS offers. It almost reminded me of a drugstore Sephora. I definitely recommend CVS for drugstore beauty needs. read more

I have been to this store for 8 years. Their service at retail is about 3 stars and Pharmacy is 1 star. So I give them 2 stars on average. I only go to them is because I work in Georgetown and this store is close to me. If you need any help, try DIY first because their staff is mostly poorly trained. Sometimes, I had to give up and go to Walgreens near where I live. Their pharmacy often do not have what I need and there are times it took them 3 days to get most common prescriptions. When you call them, normally, you will be waiting for awhile to talk to anyone or call back 2-3 more times. Next time, when I go to visit my doctor, I will ask her to call another pharmacy. read more

This is the worst CVS Pharmacy I have ever been to or attempted to contact (and I have picked up perscriptions at a lot of CVS stores). They decide not to fill perscriptions for days and then don't communicate that to customers - or they send you a message saying you need to call them to confirm before they'll fill it and then there's no way to get them to pick up the phone, so you cant get your prescription. (They literally don't pick up the phone most of the time. ) I've been on hold for over an hour (yesterday and today) and no one has picked up the phone either time. They just leave when the pharmacy closes. The staffing is of course the owner or manager's fault, but CVS basically has a monopoly in NW DC and they do not care if they are wasting hours of their customers' time and making it impossible to get prescriptions filled. If you can go to any other pharmacy, it's worth your time to do that. read more

The pharmacists at this CVS are hands-down the most unprofessional healthcare professionals I have ever dealt with. When I went with my friend to pick up her birth control pills, they yelled out that her birth control was ready, causing the middle aged women around us to stare us down (this has happened to other friends of mine as well). When I went in with pneumonia to pick up my prescriptions, they claimed that they did not have my insurance on record (mind you, I had been going here for over a year at this point). They said I would have to pay for everything out of pocket, even though I explained that in the past my insurance had been on record. They could see that I was extremely ill and not in the right state to argue, yet they weren't sympathetic at all, and I had to wait over half an hour for them to figure it out, and even then I did not receive any sort of an apology. It's gotten to the point where I prefer the ridiculously slow and inefficient Georgetown University Hospital pharmacy over this CVS simply because the GU staff is courteous and caring, unlike the insensitive and unprofessional individuals that work here. read more

I've definitely had bad luck at this CVS before but the most recent time I used this pharmacy I was blown away by the helpful staff. I came in right as the pharmacy was closing but they filled my prescription anyway, and very kindly wished me luck in kicking my sinus infection. After trying and failing to get my prescription filled and/or my insurance approved at other pharmacies, I was extremely helpful for some great customer service and competent professionals. One of the most disorganized CVS/Pharmacy locations I have ever been to. No, I'm not talking about the store, itself, but rather the employees behind the pharmacy counter! They are extremely unhelpful and do not come across as friendly. Issues I've had: 1. Unreliable. Every time I go to CVS to pick up my prescription, they tell me it's not ready, but I have it on automatic-refill. They proceed to put that information into the computer, and then the same issue happens the next month. 2. Forgetful. When they tell you it will be a 20 minute wait, what they mean to say is that it will be as long as they feel like taking. After waiting for 45 minutes today to get my prescription, I approached the desk, and asked her how much longer. I could tell that she had forgotten. She went to the shelves, picked up the prescription (which is pre-packaged, by the way), typed something in the computer, and gave it to me within two minutes. WHY on earth could this not have been done in the first place? 3. Untimely. The lines are always atrociously long. You'd think they could afford to hire at least one more employee, who would be the second one behind the pharmacy counter. Save yourself the frustration, and find a Rite Aid read more

This is my local CVS. Staff is great and friendly and I usually don't have wait long for my prescription.

One of the lower-quality CVS stores in Northwest D.C. They are always understaffed, and the staff always seem like they want to be literally anywhere else. They also are quite slow in assisting you if you need help finding something or with the self-checkout. The selection is also rather small compared to the other CVS stores in the area. Moreover, it seems like the price mark-ups here are worse than elsewhere. I know property along Wisconsin Ave is expensive, but it's kind of ridiculous that this store charges more for the same items in the same store just one to two miles away. Go to a different CVS if possible. read more

Self checkout machines were seemingly out of order and would not accept any form of payment. The employee was incapable of so much as ringing in a discount code; I was made to pay more than 50% over the listed price for my items without so much as an apology, and for some reason he was unable to give me a receipt. I agree with HZ- give this CVS another try. They remodeled right after Christmas and have cleared out the long lines by adding automated self-checkout stands. I have used them several times and there is always a helpful employee right there if you have any trouble. I also had an issue with one of their coupons and that same employee went out of her way to find my coupon on their computer and then give me the credit for it. I am thankful that this CVS is here- it sure beats getting gouged at Dean and Deluca's for staples like milk and yogurt! read more

I go here pretty frequently and have always had good interactions with the staff/ been able to find what I need. I also lost my wallet in the store this weekend and came back, hours later, expecting it to be gone, but it was still there!!! This was late on a busy Friday night with a lot of customers... But the manager working that night had not only found and secured my wallet in the store's safe, he had even called my credit card company to report it missing, which is how I found it in the first place (I think his name was Don...). I was very grateful to him and impressed with the customer service over all. Will definitely be back again. Thanks Don!! read more

I was very close to transfer my prescription to this crazy pharmacy till I became aware how unprofessional and disrespectful they are towards the customers and have no respect to the privacy of customers. I work in healthcare and my advise would be if anyone is getting hard time from this pharmacy due to privacy or any other inappropriate behaviors from there staff write to the district manager rather then the store manager. IT IS illegal and against HIPPA regulation for any healthcare professional to reveal any info about patients. It seams the staff of this pharmacy are way off the line. read more

This review is based on the pharmacy, not the store. Several times I have wasted time coming here on scheduled pickup times, only to find that the prescription wasn't ready. As you can imagine, this is a huge inconvenience when you are someone who works during their hours, trying to arrange for time away from work. Today was the worst. I had called the pharmacy yesterday to ensure that my prescription would be ready by noon today, which was confirmed. When I arrived a little after 2pm, it was a different story. I was second in line when the new attendant opened up her register (after taking a break, I think), while the pharmacist was helping the lady in front of me. Register tape needed refilling, which I understand, but I was never acknowledged during this process. Once she refilled the tape, she proceeded to lament to the other pharmacist who was helping the other patron that she broke a nail, and had her stop what she was doing to look at her damaged manicure. After I checked in, she told me there was no refill for me and I was directed to another counter with her. She eventually told me I was too early to pick up my refill and that my insurance wouldn't cover the cost. I had called the day before and received confirmation to come at that time! I had wasted my whole lunch break plus more time only to be told to come back over a weekend. If there was indeed a problem with refilling my prescription, that is not the issue. It is how it was handled. 1. I walked over since I was told that it would be ready at that time, and most importantly, 2. The terrible service I received from the woman more focused on her manicure, who was non-helpful and passed me back into the queue line to wait to speak to the pharmacist, was rude. I will most certainly not be using this place to fill prescriptions ever again, maybe not even CVS sadly. read more
