Very bad experience this morning to get my antibiotics. The pharmacist was rude, dismissive, disrespectful, and condescending. He clearly hates his job and customers and looks and behaves unprofessionally. I wouldn't trust the pills he'd give me anyways, but he cut me off and sent me away saying my prescription cannot be filled at CVS. I went to a different branch and had it done with no issues. I was in severe pain, so walking to a different branch was not fun, which is why I am writing this review as I would hate for same to happen to someone else, especially elderly. My experiences here are usually great. Trinh is awesome in the pharmacy. Please do something about the animals being allowed in your location. It's bad enough there's always dogs in there now, but I just left and a woman had a dog AND a duck- YES an actual duck. She nearly left it bc she was preoccupied trying to control her dog, and the duck wouldn't follow, as it wasn't on a leash or being held, simply roaming freely. We're already trying to avoid Coronavirus, we don't need to worry about stepping in animal excrement as well. There is no pressing reason to bring the entire animal kingdom into cvs. Please consider the health of your longtime patrons. read more

This is my neighborhood CVS and my favorite pharmacy. Mike, the pharmacist, is both friendly and knowledgeable...making our visits efficient and pleasant. Head Pharmacist is an absolute a**hole, he rejected to answer my questions or help me with my issue. I couldn't resolve anything and really needed the antibiotics for my wisdom teeth removal. I seriously hope management looks into the head pharmacist because I'm sure I'm not the only one this has happened to. The pharmacist, Mike, who has been here for years, is a delight. Each time he sees me, he says "Hi Kevin". He is always happy to come right to me at the counter. This review is for the pharmacy. I needed to pick up my Rx, but didn't know if they would release it that day (it was the 29th day). There was a bad snowstorm , so I called before venturing out. I tried their phones for an hour - holding, trying again, hitting 2 for physicians, you name it. No answer. Reluctantly, I drove in. When I arrived there were no more than three customers in the entire store and none at the pharmacy. A male pharmacist and female tech were working. After I checked in, I was told I needed to wait. No problem. However, while waiting, I heard calls coming in one after another. The phone ringer was set so low I could barely hear it. Worse than that, it was intentional because not one call was answered in the 30 minutes I waited. I then decided to tell the tech that I'd called in many times to no avail. The pharmacist came out and told me they CAN'T answer the phones because they are understaffed. No customers, but me the entire time! Not understaffed. It was a snowstorm no one was there. I started thinking about housebound elderly customers who would need information about their prescriptions over the phone. It was just ridiculous-- and rude. Then another male pharmacist started his shift, two pharmacists began working together (they seemed to be friends, and weren't busy, considering all their banter and laughter- though I couldn't understand what they were saying as I only speak a little Arabic). The phones kept ringing. This was terrible and irresponsible. It's not a grocery or clothing store, it's a pharmacy, where people go to get the Rx they need for their HEALTH--and none of their staff thought about that (well maybe they did, but they didn't CARE). People like this, licensed health care professionals , need to care about the welfare of their customers. I never had any prescriptions sent there again. read more

The never answer the phones. Ever. How do you have a pharmacy that intentionally avoids answering the phones? This causes em huge delays in getting your prescription. The front store literally said I'll tell them to answer your call and they still didn't answer. I've never seen a pharmacy that you can't get in touch with. On more than a dozen occasions I've had to call for hours and got no response. You need to answer so ppl don't drive all the way up there for you to mess up their prescriptions or have issues with them. read more

This CVS lacks good merchandise control and it is very frustrating that they are so frequently out of what I need BUT the pharmacy staff is smart and helpful and almost all of the other staff help you find what you are looking for. Maybe these reviews are very old but the CVS at 5013 Conn Ave is staffed by great pharmacists and lovely workers. They just don't don't keep their shelves stocked well. read more

The money this store recently spent to reconfigure the entryway could have been better spent either (a) providing training to a cashier named Cam, or (b) replacing Cam with someone who knows how to communicate with customers in a respectful, decent and helpful manner. I live within two blocks of this store, so I shop there often for the pharmacy and general items. Everyone from the store manager to the pharmacist and the cashiers/clerks are pleasant and extremely helpful. But, I have NEVER been talked to in such a disrespectful manner as I was this morning by the cashier/clerk named Cam. His attitude and his responses were exceedingly poor. I searched the household aisle for Comet cleanser, but when I didn't see any (which I've always seen before), I chose another cleaning product. With the other cleaning product in hand, I walked up to the check-out counter and asked Cam if they had any Comet. He looked confused and asked what kind of product is it. I said it was a cleaning product. To be fair, I didn't specify that it was a "household cleaner" because I had the other household cleaning product in my hand. He still looked confused and asked if it was a body wash. I said it was not and explained that it was for household use. In a very flippant manner, he said that it would be in the aisle that I just searched, and I told him that I know that's where it would be because that's where I found the cleaning product that I had in my hand. He then started to look up the product on his register/computer and I mentioned that I have never experienced this level of service in this store and that the CVS employees in this store are usually pleasant. His response was an eyeroll and "hmmph." When I purchased the alternative cleaning product, I selected cash back and he said, "We don't have $10 bills." I said I would take $5's and he pushed the bills in my hand. His tone and his demeanor were awfully disrespectful and not representative of the typically good service I receive at that store. Just awful!!! Oh, and during this entire exchange, I had put my telephone caller on hold (I wasn't conducting a call while interacting with Cam -- that would have been rude on my part). The person on the phone heard the entire exchange. When I walked out of the store, my caller commented on the clerk's responses and his tone. read more

I was there earlier today I went to buy a money order and they told me I was short a 100$ they counted the money twice two different people and according to them I was short a 100$ when I clearly had the correct amount I don't just come out of the house to buy a money order using my ID to fool anybody. They made it seem like my money was fake just because it was a high amount. If they're going to do this or say something they should talk behind the counter not be rude in front of costumers that's so lame honestly. The manager said I was being rude for saying he didn't know how to count but is the truth simply because the cashier didn't know how to count money properly she had to call the manager twice on the intercom and the personal cellphone she mention the manager was in the back eating a sandwich and she said if the money was fake it wasn't going to be her fault it'll be his for not coming out when she clearly called him twice I waited 30 minutes to buy a money order because they obviously didn't know how to count 2,200$ correctly. Such a shame (the manager ended up coming out but it was worthless) to have people like that at stores especially management I understand the cashier but management? It's very unacceptable. They should have a little more patience and do their job better not just tell customers they're going to get kicked out like is that the best solution to a problem? Getting them kicked out instead of trying to solve the problem and apologize to the fact that they obviously didn't count the money correctly. I never write or ever complain but it was unacceptable how the manager talked to us and making it seem like we was wrong he didn't accept the fact that he counted the money wrong because he really did and tried to tell us that we was going to get kicked out for trying to tell him that he counted the money wrong we took our money went to a check cash where we didn't have issues with them counting the money they counted the amount correctly the first time and we didn't have to go through the rudeness we went through at the cvs. Very dissatisfied read more

Why is yelp making me give them a star? This is the worst ever CVS I've ever been to. I feel like I should write a review for every single awful experience. Why do I go? Because it's close to my house. Will I go again? No. I'll walk to Tenley or Van Ness, thanks. It's not the product (for the most part) or the price (CVS is pretty much the same around the city). It's the staff. They're terrible people who don't care. I've found expired food on the shelves, things completely mispriced, containers that are open, you name it. I once walked out with a package of oreos, got home, and realized they were expired. When I brought them back the manager told me "that's a sell by date, not an eat by date, you'll be fine." I asked her if she wanted me to call the health department to see what other expired food they were selling. Today, I spent 30 minutes looking for a shower curtain. Thirty minutes. I asked a stock clerk where I could find one and he said "aisle 3." I went to aisle three; it contained everything from draino to light bulbs. Could not find a shower curtain. I found another stock clerk and asked him. He said nothing and turned and walked away from me. I wandered around the store for quite some time longer with more the same two clerks making eye contact with me on at least two more occasions each, with no assistance. Finally, because there was no one in line, I walked up to the cashier and asked "do you sell shower curtains?" He said, "aisle 3." I said, "I've been through aisle three at least 8 times. They're not there." He points. I then lost it and responded with "are you kidding me?" So he walks over to aisle 3, moves some shoe polish and low and behold on the very bottom shelf BEHIND the shoe polish there is one lone shower curtain. But the best part? He threw it at me. Hit me right in the chest. So I follow him back to the register, and I ask to speak to a manager. The woman behind the counter not in a CVS uniform shirt but a button down says, "no." The cashier threw an item at me and I was barred from speaking to a manager about it, by the manager. Horrid. read more

This place is hit or miss. Some days I come and everything I want is here and easy to find, and there is no line. Other days I come and everything advertised as being on sale is sold out and I have to get a rain check requiring me to stand in the longest line imaginable. There does always seem to be one lonely teller during lunch time which seems to be their busiest time. I always drop my prescription off at the pharmacy and pick it up the next day as they are ALWAYS busy. read more

I want to give a 5-star shout-out to four pharmacists at three CVS stores on Connecticut Ave who went the extra mile for me this week-end to get some crucially needed medicine and sort out a complication with my insurance company. They just didn't throw up their hands and throw the problem back at me. They spent extra time with me to resolve the issues. This is a pretty well organized store and pharmacy which I have used for many years. The employees are friendly and the deals offered save money if used. There are a few problems here and there, but my ranking is relative to other CVS and Walgreen's stores I have visited. Too many folks on Yelp give negative reviews just because that is what they do. read more

This place is a definite meh. Like, it just seems disorganized. The beer selection is a hodgepodge of random cheap beer and dogfish ale that costs 13 dollars. 13 dollars for a 4 pack of beer, are you kidding me?? Also, there always seems to be long lines at the checkout counter. Haven't you ever heard of self-checkout? The employees here seems to be good people however. My girlfriend spoke to one on the phone and the man was very pleasant to her, so props for that. read more

I used Kodak.com with a pick up at the 5013 Connecticut Avenue CVS for the first and LAST time this week. I received the email notifying it was ready about 5 days ago and successfully picked up my prints but only after dealing with rudest, most hostile and incompetent CVS cashier I've ever encountered. He turned hostile as soon as I said I needed to pick up photos as it required him looking for them in one of the two overflowing shopping baskets where they had been dumped - to make a long story short, after 2 cursory attempts and telling me they weren't there and I needed to come back, I stood next to him a third time as he slammed other people's orders onto the counter, saying "NO!" (slam) NO!" (slam) as he took out each envelope. I handed one to him and asked where the name was and he looked at it and put it aside. Then he said, "THEY AREN'T HERE!!" and went back to the register to finish ringing up my other items, taking the envelope he'd put aside with him and putting it with my stuff - I said, "Is that mine?" and looked at it and, yes, it was. I said to him, "So you did find my photos," receiving a silent, angry stare in reply. I stayed calm the entire time as I wanted those photos and knew they were there, but this was pretty appalling conduct even by CVS standards. Never again!! read more
