I've been going to Cyclebar Berkeley now since May 2024. As someone who rarely worked out, I became absolutely hooked. My health and body has transformed. I've formed a community of great people at the studio. They notice when you don't show up for awhile and make an effort to remember your name. I'm so grateful to be part of this community. As a woman of color, I often feel out of place at fitness studios. But many of the instructors are women of color and the staff are so nice and accommodating. The studio is always clean and has what I need to have an amazing workout. The classes are very fun and there are a diverse range of music tastes. My favorite classes to go to are with Zakiyyah and Nikki (love me some hiphop and occasional afrobeats). They will even play a song that you like if you ask ahead of time. My apple watch tells me I burn about 500 calories each time, and I definitely feel like I do. It kicks my butt every time but I can't get enough. The studio is always doing new things to keep riders engaged with themed rides and events. 10/10 experience read more

Ive been to this location a couple of times. The staff here are incredibly helpful and they make you feel welcomed. The first ride is free. I happened to come back during their ride fest and so glad I did. If you are new they walk you through everything so get there early. I did a hip hop class and the playlist was so good. I love love love that they have seat cushions although the seat is still a little uncomfortable and thats what would usually deter me it helps. The room is dark so its less intimidating and you can still go at your own pace. An overall great workout. I recommend trying this place out. read more

Really great first experience- enjoyed the workout! The instructor said that folks can go at their own intensity- which I think makes it a bit easier for folks to meet them where they're at. As well there are screens to see your progress and you see your stats after class. The teachers are high energy and motivating. Booked this class to come for me and sister for my first time at this location. spoke to them on the phone and let the front desk girl know that I wouldn't be able to get there early and would be getting there at time of class and she stated it was no problem! knowing that this was my first time at the location she never mentioned that would be a problem until we show up at the time class starts and she says, oh this is your first time here at the location we can't let you in, it's a safety issue. I've been to different locations many times and this is completely ridiculous! I wanted to come to this class with my sister since she hasn't been with me and to do while I'm visiting for just a day and she completely ruined my experience!!! Learn your job properly!! If that was a problem to get there at the time of class because I've never been to this particular location it should have been stated on the phone when she did her follow up call!!! The rest of the email delves into some monologue about some person saying how they "no longer feel like they are starving myself". This email is incredibly triggering and really insulting. Perpetuating a myth that you should exercise, so you don't have to feel guilty about not eating? Humans need to eat to survive, and this kind of email really fuels negative thoughts about food and exercise. This emails reeks of pro anorexic and orthorexic behavior and mindset. I tried CycleBar through the 1st class free promo. Overall, I wasn't a fan of their over-the-top communication methods and the class was pretty average. It did the job, but there are a few things that could've improved my experience. Marketing: They were extremely persistent. I filled out the online form right before going on vacation. I got 5 texts, 3 calls, and 2 voicemails (from 3 different numbers affiliated with CycleBar) in total before I even replied which I thought was overkill. Logistics: I cycle regularly but this was my first time with this studio chain. The space was clean and the employees were very nice. I took a 7:45am class so parking on the street was free (you have to pay after 9am). They have spacious lockers, a clean bathroom, water, snacks, a towel, and cycling shoes for you at no additional cost. The Class: It was pretty average. It wasn't close to a full class, so you lose the group motivation factor since there's a ton of empty space and people are kind of just doing their own thing. For example, during weights, no one was in sync so everything felt disjointed. Throughout the class, there was very little choreography so you were basically just sitting or standing and riding. The music wasn't super catchy and didn't have a clear theme. Lastly, the room was extremely air-conditioned, so I never felt like I worked up a good sweat or that my muscles were warm and energized. I take classes to feel motivated in my fitness environment and push myself. The class was a little too chill for me and lost some of the best aspects of paying for a group class. read more

I attend classes here occasionally when they have a theme ride I'm interested in, but I don't want a membership because I'm not in love with the studio. Pro: shoes are included. Cons: the locker area is pretty cramped and there isn't a lot of room to change your shoes and get situated. The class area is fine, but it's almost too large, which is possibly to accommodate more people, but it also feels less intimate. I do find it irritating that they try to pitch you to buy a membership. I use ClassPass so I can attend different studios, but I do understand it's more beneficial for the business if you buy a membership directly from them. It just irks me how pushy they are. read more

Just tried out a class at CycleBar for the first time and wow, no notes. First of all, they had the friendliest introduction to a studio I've had in a long time, with no weird vibes or awkwardness--just welcoming and chill. Thé studio is super clean, with no complicated process of getting shoes, towels, etc. Easy breezy. The class itself was a good sweat with fun music, and absolutely no pressure or shaming for breaks that you get in some gyms. Overall really positive and fun, and I'll definitely be back to check out more of the "theme" classes (Bad Bunny, trap, "explicit", etc.).
