Kim Cogle is simply the BEST!…read more Prior to our first appointment, my only experience with hypnosis was limited to a show at the NTC Great Lakes, IL Enlisted Club over 40 years ago. When the stage hypnotist called for volunteers, I exploded out of my seat to get his attention and was rewarded with a spot in the lights. Much to my disappointment, and in spite of repeated attempts by the entertainer, he couldn't 'put under his spell'. So, when two different friends, one a clinical psychologist, the other a highly educated intelligence officer, suggested I consider hypnotherapy to manage chronic pain, I was a bit skeptical, but made an appointment with Kim anyway. By way of background: for the past five years and have done everything possible to manage what has become overwhelming lower back pain, including: surgery, cortisone steroid injections, radio frequency ablation, acupressure, massage therapy, chiropractic re-adjustment, inversion boots and table, all with temporary and limited success. I simply won't consider opioid pain meds. At our first session, I was amazed by how much time Kim took to understand, not just my pain, but was genuinely interested in me: my history, my life, and my aspirations. Over the course of five sessions beginning in June, I've come to think of her more as a friend than a therapist. She's guided me on a journey to unlock my own (forgotten) resources to overcome what was debilitating, bone-on-bone arthritis pain. Bonus! Along the way I've begun a dedicated weight loss and exercise program, AND have been working on a manuscript that's been gathering dust for over 20 years! I know, I know, you're thinking, this sounds too good to be true; either this guy is brainwashed or is experiencing some type of placebo effect. And while it's possible the latter is true, I'm just too much of a salty dog to have been brainwashed. Nevertheless, I HAVE noticed a reduction in my pain, I HAVE lost weight, I HAVE exercised more often since June than in the preceding 12 months combined, and I HAVE nearly completed a book that I just couldn't find the energy to work on before. Kim and she had us pick our quit date and she gave us the tools to prepare for our appt. She told us to have the inside of our car cleaned out well because the cigarette smell would not be pleasant after our session. We brought a bag of cigarette butts from the last few days in a zip lock bag. We did as she told us. We both sucked down a couple cigarettes before going to her office and looked at each other with hope and threw our packs away. Miss. Kim was very warm and welcoming and made us feel very comfortable. In the details we gave, she noted any fears we had or concerns. Couldn't have been more patient. In person I had hypnosis that completely turned my mood around, left me feeling peaceful and helped eradicate some long held negative beliefs. On the phone, on two occasions he did remote healing. Once I was between flights and my back was in severe pain. I called him and within minutes I felt fine and was able to take the 2nd flight with no issues. Another time I called when my low back was in agony after driving for an hour; I had 5 hours to go. I finally called the number provided in the email and left a voicemail. Someone reached back out via text asking how they could help (?!). I sent them screenshots of my appointment and asked if they had a record...still have not heard back from them.
