So I saw Dr. Leung 4 years ago for my first colonoscopy and she was so good at explaining everything to me - what was going to happen, why, etc. Based on the results from that procedure I found out I needed to see her again in 3 years. They were so good - they sent me a reminder and when I couldn't do the procudure due to changing my insurance, I was determined to change it to a plan the following year where I could have her do my procedure and I'm SO GLAD I did. Not only was my first time experience non eventful and actually I have to say - overall, prep, procedure, after procedure - went seamlessly, without any issue - went exactly the way she and her staff said it would... my 2nd time was just the same. Mind you my medical history changed a bit and so my prep changed which is what made me appreciate her even MORE... she tailors everything to me and before the procedure her nurse called and we went through EVERYTHING... Day of went without a hitch - in fact I have to say I pretty much was in and out during the procedure - I remember seeing things on the screen and hearing things and then dozing off again... I was comfortable, and feeling fine... and woke up in my little recovery area - totally fine... a little woozy but they are so patient - LOVED nurse Annie... she was awesome!! I hope that's her name - I was a little out of it :) Dr. Leung also came by to check in on me before and after I was awake... and was very calm and comforting. AND the nurse called me the day after - open to any questions - reminded me of what to do as they figured I might not remember which I got a few things mixed up so that's all cleared up now. So I feel completely taken care of with no outstanding issues or questions. The Atherton Endoscopy facility is nice and cozy - the staff there is so nice - you just feel at ease right away...They have internet there so hubby was able to keep busy while waiting for me - and if you're a Costco member - they have one just down the street.. so that was nice for him :) I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend Dr. Leung. It's interesting - when you tell people you're having a colonoscopy - you get that sympathetic look, but I have to say - this experience - while not pleasant during the prep - all in all was fine... I stop at the word "pleasant" but I will say I have no after affects and only have positive emotions... I don't DREAD the next one at least. :) read more

Since February 18th, we have attempted to contact this office to schedule an appointment. Office staff scheduled zoom appt without confirming with my spouse. Unfortunately, technical issues were the cause of an unsuccessful appointment including failed communication from office staff. I have left four messages over four weeks including a website inquiry, to date, not even an acknowledged phone call or email. Understand the many many challenges of COVID, however, not even an acknowledged call or email of my inquiry is unacceptable. I then went back to my primary who contacted this office to inquire about their silence , and was told this office staff blamed me for a failed appointment,!?!?? Again, I left four voice mails during their business hours and an email, to date- nothing from this staff. NOTHING. read more

I've seen Dr. Leung 2x, well, once actually because the 2nd time - after waiting for 45 minutes (just like the first time, too!) - I got up and left because I have a job and meetings and like to be respectful of people's time. I was looking into a specialized procedure - the CRH O'Regan procedure - and after going over my health history, she very carefully explained why I was not a good candidate. She was very frank, and yet sensitive. Rather than her doing the procedure, she said it was not in my best interest, that I was at high risk due to past medical conditions and complications. She DID offer me several alternatives to manage the situation and examined me anyway. She was very gentle, took her time,and I left there feeling 100% satisfied anyway. Also VERY nice lady. Met with me in her office before going to a room. Personable, professional, and courteous! I highly recommend her!!! PS: I have Blue Shield PPO and she is a "preferred provider" on that plan. read more

Not helpful. Kept on changing the schedule and blaming zocdoc.com as an inaccurate website. I have used multiple times zocdoc.com website to schedule an appointment with other doctors and never had an issue. Also, they won't take any phone calls. We don't have any option to know what is happening with schedule. Most of the time it is getting canceled at the last minute. read more

Never got to visit the doctor, so the review is not for her care, but she needs to hire an additional front desk person. All I wanted was to know if I could see the doctor within the next week, and was put on hold for over 10 minutes. Called back again as I figured I must have been forgotten, only to hear a "Hello, please hold" and then back to another 17 minutes on hold. Called back a 3rd time, and said "I've been on hold for almost 30 minutes now, can you please just answer my question and let me know if she has anything available." She explained that she was the only front desk person and it ended up being that I couldn't get an appt. anyway. I shouldn't be put on hold for 30 minutes just to see if an appt. is a possibility. I could have used that time to call other doctors and get treatment sooner. Tip to the doctor: Hire additional staff as you clearly need it. read more

Reading all the other reviews, i think i might have gone to the wrong place (but the name and address match, so i feel it is safe to write here). My experience after consulting Dr. Leung is definitely, definitely not 5, or even close to that. She did come across as a warm, likeable person (she might know her subject very well too. Might). But to me, i feel i did not get any insightful input from her. From the time i met her, i do not feel my condition has improved 1 bit. Not 1 bit. So, maybe it is my bad luck or i did not need a Gastroenterologist to begin with - but Dr. Leung did not tell me that i did not need her. I was promptly charged for the services, and my condition has not improved 1 bit. read more

Dr. Leung recently performed an upper endoscopy examination on me, and did an amazing job for a several reasons (1) Explained very clearly what the risks and benefits of the procedure were, as well as exactly what was involved and what she was going to do during the procedure, while in her offices a few weeks before so I could make an informed decision. (2) Once at the facility for the endoscopy, she re-explained what she was about to do, JUST before she did it during the procedure. (3) Her and the nurse did a very good job of executing my desire to remain "present" and awake during the endoscopy, while just taking enough of the edge off with sedation - from what I can tell, that can obviously make the doctor's job a bit harder (the patient can move, gag, etc.). (4) She explained what we were seeing on the screen (they gave me a screen I could view that would be in my line of vision), and what I might or might not feel just before and as she was performing different maneuvers with the scope. Of course, the team there will obviously do heavier sedation if you don't want to be "fairly awake" and present (most people elect for more sedation). (5) She was very confident and comforting during the procedure, which makes a big difference when under light sedation ("We are about 80% done now, just a few more minutes, you are doing just fine", etc.). (6) For the practice she is in, the endoscopy procedures are performed at Atherton Endoscopy Center, which is a very nice, immaculately clean facility. And the staff were very nice, and did a great job soothing patients that might be nervous about the various exams. I thought I was at the 4 seasons when they brought me a pre-warmed blanket when I first laid back on the gurney while the nurse verified my medical information. (7) The team of nurses there are very attentive to detail... I had a bit of a wait to go in, and one of the nurses asked how I was doing. I mentioned I was a bit thirsty (you can't have water before an endoscopy), but other than that fine. Once I was wheeled out, she asked how I felt and if I wanted some water. Wow! Just a side note - because I went for very light sedation, I watched a random procedure video on youtube beforehand. If you decide for very light sedation, I suggest you do this, so you aren't unnecessarily alarmed by what you may see or feel. The stomach isn't very "pretty", so you may want to know that before seeing your own! If you are squeamish or "don't want to know all the details" you may obviously may not want to watch any videos before, and I am sure they could remove the patient's screen if you don't want to see/know. read more

I saw Dr. Leung during a really rough week and the appointment ended in her directing me to the ER, so this isn't a general appointment review. That said, she is completely professional and friendly, and handled an extremely stressful situation with ease. She also took the time to call the ER so that they were aware of my situation upon arrival and reached out to her colleague so that he checked up on me during my hospitalization. Dr. Cynthia Leung made me feel safe, informed and proactive about my health. She answered every question I had and helped me stay relaxed throughout my procedure. I can't say enough good things about this place but I will sum it up. Excellence, humble, knowledgeable, and the best bedside manners I have encountered. I am currently in the process of trying to figure out some tummy issues and I could not have been more blessed to find Dr. Leung. She knew just what to say and do to make me feel at ease. I had to bring my one year old with me and she was incredible with my son while explaining everything to me. I highly recommend her!
