I know it's not a big deal, but it kind of ruined my experience. Came in on a Monday evening around 6:30, they're not many people in the store so I kind of enjoyed a little more as I am a more relaxed shopper and get more anxiety with a lot of people running around. I had to return a sweater and I went to browse a few items to use for the remaining balance of my gift card, a very nice woman help me pick out a few options that she thought we might look good with the clothes that I already had in my hand. She had also gotten me a fitting room, but I had to ask the other employees for help with the fitting as she was more on the floor sales -which is totally totally fine. Finally found a dress that I liked and checkout was fine but I live in Chicago, so I definitely should know that there is a bag tax. I just totally forgot and definitely wouldn't have taken the bag if they would have said something.

I usually hit up Bloomingdale's across the street for my fix; this location, with its spacious interiors and vast accessory and shoe sections to complement the delectable wearables, made me realize just what I was missing. As a walk down retail memory lane, Cop Copine (now in the 900 North Shops) used to be in this location. There was only one other customer in the store and the retail experience was what I appreciate the most- attentive without being overbearing. I ended up with a dress for an event in April (originally $600, marked down to $350) and a skirt and top. Unfortunately for me - maybe not so much for my pocketbook - the full skirt that I was eyeing (on full price) was not available in my size. The personalized service and nifty garment bag that folded up and over into shopping-bag proportions all contributed to my good shopping vibes. Word to the wise: the sale will be ending in a matter of days, at which time all the goods will be packed up and shipped off to the warehouse to make way for Spring 2015 goods. If you want to check out the sale goods while they still last, I suggest coming here without delay.

I'm thankful that it did not disappoint. Immediately upon entering the store, I was greeted with a smile and a genuine hello. The staff at this store is incredibly knowledgeable about their inventory and is always happy to provide a helping hand to you. Furthermore, there is a large selection available. This enabled me to choose from a diverse choice of their products as a result. The products I purchased last week much exceeded my expectations, and I will most certainly be back next week to make additional purchases. Highly recommended to all, definitely worth a try.

I've shopped here multiple times with my Pyrenees and I love the fact that everything here is either 100% cotton or very close to it. All the intimates I've purchased fit extremely well or I wouldn't keep coming back. I prefer leaving five stars as a local guide but instead I'm leaving three because of the fact that you can't try on anything here before you buy it so if you aren't a Chicago local you're out of luck. So far i haven't had to return anything though because all of these dresses have adjustable straps and if you buy drawstring shorts you can tighten or loosen the material to fit your body type. I am only five foot one so I can definitely fit into these clothes. The only item that didn't fit me well are a pair of denim shorts I purchased but I may either resell them or lose a bit of weight lol. Here all the fitting rooms are permanently closed. But what really upset me yesterday was the fact that I wanted to try on a metallic gold sweater top but the security guard stopped me and said it's the store policy that no one can try anything on not even a sweater! I don't agree with that policy nor have I ever shopped at a boutique women's clothing store where you can't try on something as simple as a sweater! I also wish to add that when you check out not all the girls are friendly. You're told that all intimates are non refundable as a warning and they never ask you if you've had a pleasant shopping experience. They ring everything up kind of like it's just a job to them then ask you if you want a bag? May I suggest to upper management that you train your staff to be kinder and bag everything up. Better yet provide cute cloth bags as a kindness a cute complimentary cloth bag that we can reuse like the bags provided by Free People brand so that it's eco friendly! In summary some of the staff are polite enough to want to help but yesterday there weren't enough sales crew on the floor and some of the cashiers were looking kind of harried. Love the clothes strongly disagree with the no try on before you buy policy here!

I had set them down the first time I visited and then hiked it back to the Gold Coast to get them. I browsed the store. It was pretty crowded, but we are still having warm weather in Chicago, as expected. Plus, Glossier opened up next door. They had a freaking line to get in (like a nightclub). I did not get that, honestly. ( I went inside there... I am left confused as to their appeal.) Back to Madewell. I really like their clothing selection, and their pricing was quite decent for the nice quality. The cashier was super friendly and quickly signed me up for their rewards program. I've been a customer/consignor at Cynthia's for a least four years, most of my wardrobe has been from Cynthia's and selected solely with the assistance of Cynthia and her staff. I appreciate their willingness to respond to style questions and not just "yes me " for a sale. Her new computer system is extremely helpful to me as a consignor as I can track what I need to. I find the rejection process easy to handle due to they will direct me to other locations where my items might be able to be sold. I LOVE Cynthia and Cynthia's Consignments!! Hands down the best consignment store in Chicago. Great selection of designers and merchandise. I have found many amazing items here, prada dress, gucci shoes, miu miu bag all for a fraction of what I would pay on ebay or retail! I went to Cynthia's recently for the first time and I could not be happier. I told her that I had a black tie wedding coming up and that I wanted something fabulous and unique for it. She proceeded to pull some fabulous dresses for me to try on and I scored an amazing floor length Giambattista Valli!! (among other items that I simply could not pass up). I had a life-changing shopping experience in Cynthia's Consignments! Cynthia is amazing. I didn't feel any pressure to buy anything, and she was honest about how every piece fit my body. The clothes are all high-end, and I ended up only paying $1600 for $12000 worth of clothes. WHAAAAAT??!!! I feel more confident, I feel beautiful, and my pockets are beyond happy. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways! I've been shopping with Cynthia for YEARS! She is a doll and so helpful! If I tell her what designer I like, she pulls items from that designer for me. I go to Cynthia's Consignments all the time. Everyone who works there is great ... so helpful. Their merchandise is 'one-of-a-kind' and the prices are terrific ... especially during their sales. I was quite impressed by the men's section. Nice selection of like new, high-end brands and priced well overall. The women's section was ok, but most of our finds were in in men's. Sadly, the Coca-Cola jacket was a size too small for my husband. But I found him a great shirt, while my son picked up a pair of Patagonia shorts and a vintage sweater. My kids bought me a Vans quilted jacket to help when walking in the Chicago winds. (It was perfect as I wore it almost every day!) The girl at the counter was very nice. We paid in cash and Venmo for the additional discount. We will definitely try to make our way back here, at our next visit to Chicago.

After a year and half, I was told the same thing...that is until I asked to come and pick up my dress. Then magically, a mistake was made and my dress had already sold. I don't think I would ever have been told! I cannot recommend this business in any way.
