To be completely honest, I was a little hesitant at first only because we had a bad experience with daycare centers in Orange County - we relocated to Merced in Sept. 2019. But since Back to Square Fun is located at Paige's home, we felt a lot more at ease shortly after my daughter started there as it truly has a warm, safe, and inviting feel to it. At first my daughter would cry at drop off due to stranger-danger mentality. But Paige won her affection very quickly. She would send us pictures and videos of her eating, sleeping, and playing with other kids around her age. This reassured me that our little girl was in the best hands possible. You really need to look no further for the best care for your little one. But do try to get on the waitlist asap! We now have a 6mo. old son and been trying to hang onto him until something opens up with Paige.

On the tour, our child's teacher reviewed the curriculum and educational rationale, and it was clear that there was substantial thought to all aspects of the child's day. I started my child in the toddler room, and the best thing I can say about it, is that each day that he goes, he's excited when we pull up to campus, and every day when we pick him up, he tells us he had fun at school. We get thorough descriptions of his day, what he liked, and where he struggled. Excellent communication with parents. Snacks include local organic produce from our local CSA. Ms Sonya and Ms Samantha run a great classroom and I would have no reservations making the same choice again.

It quickly became apparent this was not the case. I did not feel my child was emotionally supported at the pre-school, there was lack of attention on the students during play time (I saw two students physically hurt each other while behind the teachers back), and I personally had to take away two dead cockroaches from a group of students who were playing with them during recess. The teachers refused to let my child eat his lentil chips claiming they were unhealthy while simultaneously offer Ritz Crackers and plastic wrapped processed cheese slices during snack time. During the first week, I picked my child up from day care, only for him to show me a massive 4 inch cut down his arm. To my surprise not one of the teachers could explain how or when it happened. My child attended for a total of six days before I decided that his well-being was not prioritized in the school. I will say, there are many people who love this school for their students. It's possible that we got a very unfortunate look into their summer programming. Ultimately, I did not feel my child was safe and decided to find another pre-school.

When my daughter was around 20 months old, she went through a stage where she didn't want to eat, drink, or play much. I also love that Ms. Carolina cooks fresh meals every day and makes sure the kids drink plenty of water, especially during the hot weather. My daughter was also potty trained at daycare when she was a little over 2 years old, which was a huge help for us. As a full-time working parent, having a daycare I can trust has been such a relief. Ms. Carolina has also been very flexible with early drop-offs and late pick-ups when I needed them, and I really appreciate that.
