To be clear, however, you're not going to get any natural light at all here like you do in the big, old building downtown with the huge banks of tremendous windows. If you want that kind of shoot, this isn't that. Also, I found the strobe units to be usable, but not fully professional. For instance, they didn't fire reliably all the time, and I think they are prone to overheating when used with a pro-model with whom a good photographer can get a frame every second to second and a half for twenty or thirty frames. That was annoying, and I lost about 25 frames or so out of about 700 to misfires. You also can't make any adjustments to settings remotely from the controller unit, which is pretty inconvenient when using a multi-light setup. That said, the place is clean, neat and well organized. The light stands and wide selections of excellent modifiers (including a really big one for a soft, flat lighting base), were appropriate to the space and in good repair. There's tons of colors of seamless options (though no cyc) and there were enough power cables and AC points to reach wherever I needed. There's a fan. There's a really great, big private dressing room, WiFi and the ability to connect and play your own music through a pretty nice system. They have a good selection of stools and full and half apple boxes. There's ample air conditioning (it was 100 degrees outside the day of my shoot) and we were comfortable in the studio - an absolute must to avoid sweaty models. Communication with the owner went well and the price is appropriate to the offering. All in all, this is the perfect place for the right type of job. There are times you need pro level strobes that recycle in milliseconds, but if you don't (family shoot, amateur models for engagements, business headshots), this place is a perfect ten.

Love that there are three rolling light stands for ease of moving but also additional c stands if needed. You really only need to bring your camera! Rafael, the owner is super nice and helpful! Really great guy! Studio Rental includes Makeup/changing room with two chairs, garment rack, garment steamer, internet/computer, mini fridge, microwave, green room & reception, restroom. The cyc is huge and super clean with no surrounding noise. Marco, the owner, makes the experience so easy for us every time we're there. We've shot 5 campaigns for a global coffee brand at Greycard and the kitchen is perfect for food stylists to prep in. There's nearby street parking, it's just off the 405, I mean...the list goes on. There are a lot of stages around LA and I've shot in most of them. This is the one I'll keep coming back to, without a doubt.

Rented this place out for my boyfriend's surprise birthday party. It was more than perfect. We had…read moreabout 30 people there, brought 4 long tables for snacks/ beer pong, and even utilized the garage door as part of the surprise. There's no one else during the evening really in the building so music and noise was never a concern, which is always really nice. They had speakers there but we brought our own and they have a clean bathroom inside too. It was so much more affordable than any other spot too (looked all over downtown LA for the perfect spot). There's only one spot provided but there was a ton of street parking right across and no one had any issues with safety or anything like that. Also it was right next to my favorite street taco place so it was nice to grab midnight munchies next door. ERB is right next door too. Overall, 5 star experience. The people are super sweet and nothing was a hassle. Definitely would throw another party there again.

Dystopian Studios is located off Moulton avenue near Barbara's at the Brewery. Parking is street…read moreparking which was easy to find on the street and then you have a short walk around the brewery and then down a very long alley until you reach almost the end of the alley. In front there is a huge Giant Skeleton with his skeleton dog, and that's how you know you have reached the right place. Inside the studio it looks pretty cool and we were all impressed. I am reading some of the older reviews from 2018 and 2022 where people wrote that things were falling apart, however this was not the case whatsoever. The studio looks very clean and like new to me. It's decorated very futuristically with time portal doors and silvery paint. It was actually pretty cool to have our Kintsugi class at this location. Apparently the space gets rented out for people to do photo shoots or movies or commercials so that's pretty cool. I was signed up for a Renaissance Club event (The art of Kintsugi) at this location of the Dystopian Studios. The instructor for The art of Kintsugi only uses the space to host her classes, so I am only doing a review of the location itself and I will try to find the instructor's business to write a separate review specifically for her.

My experience at the Jesus Wall studio was different in that this was the first time I went with a professional celebrity photographer, who actually highly recommended it. The great thing about this place was that in addition to themed walls, couches, curtains, and white space, it also came with professional equipment such as key lights, props, and even a wind machine I got to use to flow my daughter's hair for portraits. It was equipped with everything that a professional photographer needs. There was even a makeup mirrored table to prep for shoots, which apparently was key for my daughter. The place is located in an interesting industrial-looking lot near downtown LA, and while there are a lot of parking spaces, they were quite full. However, just a few minutes of waiting yielded open spaces, as apparently there is a lot of come-and-go traffic. I enjoyed my experience here, and the proof is in the phenomenal photographs I got back.
