I loved the service they offered my dog. You can tell they love animals by the way they treat your pet. They don't overcharge and offer fair prices. I used to be very thankful of this place due to their prices, but after a bad experience I'd never go back. My cat, Watson, came in with a swollen stomach at the end of April. They found a tumor and we scheduled an operation and he was given a prescription for chemo. They never informed me of the side effects of the chemo, and never offered any other treatment or explanation as to what was going on. It wasn't until researching myself that I realized how sick that could make him, so I decided against it. The time for his operation comes around and he becomes anemic, and they say there's nothing they can do. Bullshit. They could have done a blood transfusion and operation to remove the tumor and stabilize him, but I wasn't informed of that until I took him to another vet. It could have been benign for all we knew, and I'm sure a fine needle aspiration would have been able to show that, but it was never offered and I didn't know it was an option until I went to another vet, once again. They didn't even offer to do another ultrasound to check to see if the tumor spread. They simply said okay here's your dying cat, bye. Sorry, good luck! And when I'm told by Cypress that basically there was nothing we could do and he was going to die, I ask if we can put him down. They say "oh well we don't want to put down a happy pet." Are you fucking kidding me? He had a tumor on his spleen that could rupture at any moment and kill him almost instantly. He was not a "happy pet." He was bleeding to death from the inside. He had anemia, FIV, and likely cancer that was literally killing him. He was breathing so heavy and his heart was going crazy and he was super lethargic with a giant stomach full of blood. How insensitive can you possibly be? I was told this by both the doctor and the receptionist. So now I had to take my sorry ass and my dying cat elsewhere where I'm actually informed of all the options, but by then he's on the brink of death and has to be put down. I can only guess he had cancer, but I guess we won't fucking know for sure now that he's a pile of crushed bones and ash in a tiny plastic bag, now will we? I was told there was nothing to be done which wasn't true. I was denied the opportunity to put my cat out of his misery. Absolutely unacceptable. read more

This vet let my cat die under anesthesia. They are horrible to the animals. They are also rude and should be shut down.

Veterinarians and cost of care is terrific. You can't beat it. The office staff especially the one that lost a lot of weight is horrible. If you can tolerate rude staff and outstanding physician care this is the place. Watch out for the vet technician who thinks she is the DVM. read more

I see this place recommended frequently on FB and I figured I would post my experience. When I moved back to the area a few years ago I needed a new vet for my dog and I decided to try this place out especially after hearing the affordability. I went a couple of times and each visit the whole staff was so apathetic and unnecessarily aggressive when handling my dog. The last time I was there I had to leave my dog with them for a procedure and when I picked him up, his back legs were covered with poop and his brand new harness was ripped. They handed him over to me and didn't say a word. I never wanted to take him back after that. His vet now isn't as low cost, but it's so worth it. The staff is professional, the place is always clean, and they treat him with such love and care. I've left him there multiple times where he had to stay most of the day and I've had no issues. It's night and day to this place and I also don't think the prices are that much different. Plus I think paying a little more for peace of mind is worth it as well. read more

Called recently 07/2018 and was met with the rudest person ever. Seemed like helping me was not their job and I was bothering them. Was looking to switch Vets, for a closer location. The way I was treated think I'll stay where I'am. Can't say anything else about the place seeing that I didn't even get in the door. Shame to loose business before it even walks into location. We've lived in the area for 3 years now and have been to several vets that we haven't liked for various reasons for our dogs and cats. We brought one of our dogs in to Cypress Animal Hospital yesterday and have definitely (finally) found our new vet. They were very knowledgeable, attentive, thorough, and caring. These people were nothing but rude. My dog is a puppy and kept jumping, and the lady that came and grabbed her kept pushing her down telling her I don't want to grab her if she keeps jumping. I thought with these people working at a vet they would understand how to deal with all types of dogs. So any how we spayed my dog, and they didn't even send her home with a cone, she kept licking so we called back and said for the amount of money we payed (250-270) we expected to have had a cone with her so she won't keep licking the wound. So she said they had some for sale for 12 dollars or so. My husband decided to go pick it up, she came back with a dusty old one that didn't clamp. My husband mentioned that to her and she said "oh let me see if I can grab another one" so she went to the back and said "sorry we don't have anymore". This place is not well equipped. It's a small local place. Looks and smells dirty. Never again. Go to somewhere else. I recently decided to try cypress on west esplanade, and they were lovely. read more

I wanted to thank all the people working in this place. My litle friend of almost 17 years were dying. After taking him to other veterinarians that were much closer to my location nothing changed. I tried different medications and treatments as was recommended but no results. Finally my friend send me to this place to see Dr. Stone . At this point i knew there were litle hope left for my baby. I just wanted to know what's going on because according to other blood tests he was supposed to be fine. When i told receptionist on the phone what was happening she Donna ( sorry if i got your name wrong ) was so understanding and tried to fit us in asap. When we saw Dr. Stone in the morning he was everything i was looking for: straight to the point about what's going on by just looking and pulpating my cat. He new there were tumor but to make me feel better about my decision he recommended Ultrasound to make 100% sure . And the doctor performing Ultrasound was very generous as they knew that my litle friend was dying. There were multiple tumors and he was in very bad condition at this point. I thought i would never be able to make a decision to put my cat to sleep. I could see him in pain but still hoped what if. With those people around me i new that what has to be done. No pressure for any procedure but option to choose and so much compassion. I didn't even though about money at that point but when i got home i could see from bill they made big deduction for me. The bill was much lower then if i went to any other place. Those people love animals more then money. They do really care and they have knowledge to back it up. My gratitude to all people working there from front desk ladies to vet assistant who was trying to comfort my kitty at his last minutes. read more

BEWARE: OUTRAGIOUSLY PRICED!!!! I am new town and took my 2 dogs in for their yearly check-up. I did also buy their flee meds, but was shocked when I got hit with a $719.00 bill. After my visit, I called other vets in town to see if it was the city that was so expensive, but it was just them. I called 7 other vet clinics to find out I paid almost double what other vets charged. I called and addressed my concern with Dr. Stone, and he was very un-understanding and would not work with us at all. Lesson learned: I will not return and I hope to save this from happening to others. The vet check was fine but can get the same thing much cheaper! VERY EXPENSIVE! read more

I have been a dog breeder for over 15 years and have used more than 25 different vets in the New Orleans area over that time period. I have to say Cypress Animal is by far the most FAIRLY PRICED and CARING veterinarian office I have ever dealt with. From the receptionists' kind disposition to the attention to detail they show in ensuring my dogs are healthy and happy, I have never met a vet that goes the extra mile like Dr. Stone does. There have been several instances in which he has helped me through tough times in regards to my dogs and has time and time again gone above and beyond what I have come to expect from vets, as in my experience most are prone to over exaggerate health concerns in attempts to up charge clients and for fear of admitting a lack of knowledge on each and every subject a pet owner can encounter. In past situations such as those Ive been lied to, overcharged and under delivered my MANY vets over the past decade. The reason I trust Dr. Stone so much is because, as with other vets, over the years with so many dogs Ive brought in rare cases to him that he wasn't 100% sure about and instead of allowing ego to get in the way and mislead me as many others have done in the past, he has taken his time to call specialists in each field to further educate both of us on the reality and risks behind the procedures involved and given me 100% honest assessments of his capability and recommendations, even when that very recommendation is to go to a surgeon that specializes in such procedures while im begging him to give it a try. Instances like those are very rare in the pet health industry and when you find a vet willing to go the extra mile to ensure the safety and best care possible you know you've got one of the few vets out there that actually care about the well being of animals more than their own pride or pockets. A sight that is even more compounded by the fact that Dr. Stone is the absolute best surgeon I have ever watched perform. From ear crops, and c-sections to exams and checkups Cypress Animal is one of the very few vets I feel comfortable enough to recommend to all my clients. read more
